You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Thanks for that Jan. Very interesting.

This quote stated: “A resurgence occurs because there are still many people in vulnerable groups who do not have protection; flies in the face of those posters who keep bleating on that ‘the vulnerable are all double vaccinated we need to go back to normal’. They are not all vaccinated. Not all vulnerable can be and some won’t reach the immunity levels from the vaccine to be protected enough, which begs the question, if the govt are not including herd immunity in their policies, why are they then modelling its outcomes?

That article was also very good at explaining herd immunity and the ‘third’ wave and it is not what a lot of posters on Mumsnet think.

eitak22 · 26/06/2021 08:46

So glad you found out Name, nice that you already know the year group too.

Got my second vaccine today, hopping the side effects aren't too bad.

motherrunner · 26/06/2021 08:47

@eitak22 I was really ill after my first. I posted about passing out in front of my Yr 11s! Didn’t have so much as a sore arm after second!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/06/2021 08:49

To me, it just seems a stupid game to play given how well the vaccine roll out has gone. Why would you get this far and then risk chucking it all away when a few more weeks would make all the difference.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/06/2021 09:03

The UK Government has strongly denied there is any policy to increase infections.

I think something might be going wrong with whatever policy they are running if it doesn’t involve increasing infections.

RigaBalsam · 26/06/2021 09:20

My dd has to isolate too. We are due to move soon so she will be stuck in one room too at my parents house. She is happy about no school but annoyed about not being able to see her friends at the weekend.

noblegiraffe · 26/06/2021 10:30

U4T now having a hissy fit over school closures and isolation.

I am this close | | to starting a thread pointing out that they didn’t give a fuck about closures and isolations before Christmas when they couldn’t use them to argue for a lifting of restrictions. They are once again despicably using kids to further their adult agenda.

noblegiraffe · 26/06/2021 10:35

There’s a video of the Hancock kiss doing the rounds on Twitter. I can’t unsee it.

He’s got kids, how come he kisses like a virgin?

Piggywaspushed · 26/06/2021 10:46

Haven't U4T always whined about closures and isolations?

noblegiraffe · 26/06/2021 10:49

No, they were very silent when nearly a million kids a week were isolating before Xmas. They didn’t want to draw attention to the fact that covid was in schools.

Piggywaspushed · 26/06/2021 10:51

Oh right. I remember some suspicious posters on here banging on about how they weren't really ill and we were isolating 'healthy' children.

noblegiraffe · 26/06/2021 10:58

They didn’t have a campaign about isolation that I can remember from then. Too busy telling anyone that suggested extra mitigations in schools that masks were child abuse and that anxious teachers just wanted to close schools.

Piggywaspushed · 26/06/2021 11:06

They have spouted so much crap I can't even remember properly!

RigaBalsam · 26/06/2021 11:09

Two of my dds friends have turned up at the door. So much for isolating Hmm

Piggywaspushed · 26/06/2021 11:10

I think a lot of youngsters just think isolating means 'not going to school'...

DollyMixtureLulus · 26/06/2021 11:28

TBF, I think a lot of adults also interpret it as ‘just not going to work’ too 🤦🏼‍♀️

RigaBalsam · 26/06/2021 12:54

@Piggywaspushed

I think a lot of youngsters just think isolating means 'not going to school'...
You are right there.
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/06/2021 13:10

I suspect quite a lot of these kids and MNers might get quite a surprise if they actually did live in a country where their civil liberties were curtailed.

LolaSmiles · 26/06/2021 13:23

You're not wrong there rafals. I love hearing about things that are apparently against human rights/against our civil liberties.

Someone's just sent me this. Although now I'm wondering how they found it and if they are on MN.

Beachhuts90 · 26/06/2021 13:46

By the way, if anyone else is in their 30s and has a vaccine appointment for their second jab months away, you can check and move it closer now. Mine was originally supposed to be the first day of school in September (after school but that's not ideal either way) and I was able to move it back almost a whole month into the summer holidays.

noblegiraffe · 26/06/2021 13:52

How did you move it, Beach, did you cancel and rebook?

ChloeDecker · 26/06/2021 13:54

Is that the same for the over 40s beach?

LolaSmiles · 26/06/2021 13:56

How did you manage that beach. I was told I'd get a text when my second vaccination is due but I've heard nothing yet.

TheHoneyBadger · 26/06/2021 13:58

That's what I had Lola - they text when you're able to make your second appointment. Mine was much earlier than initially predicted so hopefully yours will be too.
