You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

ie. what are the chances of her having being an asymptomatic and having a false negative test result. I'm thinking very slim but not impossible. If they also have no symptoms now or in the next day or two it makes it even more unlikely - then again if they're vaccinated they have more of a chance of asymptomatic carrying too compared with if they weren't.

I still lean towards they're in the clear but your/their call.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/06/2021 19:14

@TheHoneyBadger - I know! It's all so complicated. I was sure she'd be fine until one of the other kids tested positive. She has secondary siblings though, who they are still awaiting test results for. Might not have been her bubble related. Everyone is asymptomatic so far, even the original case. Picked up on LFT.

ChloeDecker · 30/06/2021 19:15

@SquashedFlyBiscuits

Parents - sick of your pesky self isolating secondary children getting under your feet at home? Why don't you send them to collect their primary siblings from school? Saves you a job and you get half an hour's peace.

Fuck this shit!

Seriously?!
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/06/2021 19:19

I had to call to get a child removed today. First time ever. When he'd gone (obv back 10 mins later), 4 kids said thanks.

Piggywaspushed · 30/06/2021 19:22

We have had mad induction this week. Lots strutting into lessons without the mask they should have. I nearly had to call to get four of them removed form the exciting induction lesson ! Horrific it was.

CarrieBlue · 30/06/2021 19:23

@TheHoneyBadger

I suspect but they worry that it would lead to a 'two-tier' system under which Tarquin will be disadvantaged. If some people have their children vaccinated then some people might suggest on different processes for vaccinated and unvaccinated children eg. when there is a positive case in school or when darling T is a known contact of a positive case.

They don't want Tarquin vaccinated, isolated, tested, 'muzzled' or in any way bothered at all and they don't want their to be any consequences for that choice.

Tough, there’s consequences for every decision you make.

We’ve had 4 positive cases from our Year 11s coming in for our induction last week. It’s just relentless, isn’t it?!
Piggywaspushed · 30/06/2021 19:28

Oh these weren't cases. Unless you count nutcases.

they are treating it like a mufti week . With added frees.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/06/2021 19:33

I'm amazed we still haven't had a positive yet unless they're no longer telling us? Some days we have a few kids on the covid register that we are informed of so we can send work but most days none. I've assumed those are kids waiting on test results or who have been close contacts outside of school with a case. Right at the beginning of term there was a positive child but he'd caught it on holiday and hadn't been into school.

I'm not complaining obviously but it's clearly very different in different schools and areas. If I wasn't aware of situations elsewhere I'd have found that article saying very high numbers of bubbles sent home etc totally unrelatable.

Oh yeah, that too. Some of the boys had to be asked to leave due to their behaviour. Fun times.
Piggywaspushed · 30/06/2021 19:38

I feel really sad about it tbh. Never known bad behaviour in induction lessons before.

SarahLou67 · 30/06/2021 19:50

Are inductions still going ahead? We have Y6 pupils potentially going to 6 different schools. They could either be taking to them or coming back with it. We have so many cases in the NW right now. Risks of ill health might be really low but holidays are in jeopardy if you get a call to self isolate in the final week.

Sorry, I mean Year 11 into Year 12 inductions so they are already ‘ours’ if you see what I mean and Ofsted wanted the 11s in for as long as possible, so we extended our induction for a week.
Piggywaspushed · 30/06/2021 20:42

I bloody well didn't.

Yep - same here too! You couldn't make it up Angry

Hi everyone just wanted to pop on to say I'm still reading. Not been too great health wise recently (not Covid-yet....) but I enjoy reading through everyone's comments and nodding along to them. Really worried about September- December in schools again especially if we don't get the booster (had my second in late May but under 50). Hope everyone is well x

noblegiraffe · 30/06/2021 21:09

Sorry to hear you’ve been ill, Monkey, hope you feel better soon.

noblegiraffe · 30/06/2021 21:10

Someone else has written that book you should have written piggy

Thanks @noblegiraffe 💐

ChloeDecker · 30/06/2021 21:16

Get better soon Monkey!

I noticed in the headlines that it was over 50s and keyworkers, so I am hoping that we qualify under that for boosters

Piggywaspushed · 30/06/2021 21:19

Ermm, yeah, Mark Sodding Roberts. Does the podcast.

Piggywaspushed · 30/06/2021 21:20

I am amused by him being congratulated by a load of male teachers calling him 'mate'...

To be fair. MR is OK. It's the other two.

JanFebAnyMonth · 30/06/2021 21:23

Oh hi monkey, I’d been thinking of asking “Where’s monkey?”. Get better soon 😊

That’s shocking re Robert Dingwall.

Just WHY do DTeens decide to wear the really expensive American hoodie thing (birthday present) from their fave YouTuber when we could all see it was too small, then spill coke down it thus making it unreturnable - WHY??

HarrietDVane · 30/06/2021 21:29

Get well soon Monkey!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/06/2021 21:32
