Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

I agree that the isolations can be very disruptive. What happens though if there’s no isolation, no masks, no ventilation and parents refuse to test?

piggy, they won’t need to police them if they’re onsite?

Parents United have heard that all children are going to be infected. Meltdown.

Which I have some sympathy with. Long Covid. CEV. Immunosuppressed parents. MIS.

And I think the press and various social media sources have really propagated the idea that LFTs are shit.

But we can't keep testing them onsite ad nauseam. It's so disruptive !
And what about contacts outside of school - social contact/family?

Hmm do we think it’s be Daily LFTs to replace isolation PLUS twice weekly LFTs for everyone, or will they scrap the latter?

And this is all supposing there’s no new variant. Which is unlikely, esp if it’s let rip through schools.

The government just don’t have the balls to say ‘we don’t care if kids get it’ so they’ll roll out some crappy measures to make it look like they are trying and schools and teachers will get it in the neck when it’s shit/not adhered to/doesn’t make any sense.

At the same time the DfE has extended the legal obligation to teach remotely til March 2022.

Schools are going to need someone full time on testing (possibly) and then there’s the space.

Oo yes and I mean to say, Welsh govt have said they’ll let schools decide their own measures come September!

No, me neither. If they’re going to stop isolation for classes in primary-there will be nothing then. I can’t see them introducing testing there.

Unless the kids are vaccinated.

Which is a position they’ll have to defend after opening those 15 long covid in kids clinics.

I hate remote teaching. And we still have to be given details to whatever changes will be made to next years Yr11 & Yr 13 exams.

I hate this. At our school if a kid is isolating at home we have to make our lesson live for them to join. Even if the lesson doesn’t remotely lend itself to online learning.

We are still wearing masks. Then you have a headset on top of that so it’s really claustrophobic.
We are still moving rooms, so every lesson you are already on the backfoot. This just just adds to the feeling of being overwhelmed.
Plus the tech fails all the time even when you are just using a PowerPoint. Add in a live teams call and you have pretty much guaranteed a crash during your lesson.

Hate the live teaching / class teaching hybrid.

Crikey those clinics almost seem like future planning. Horrible thought - and v likely wrong because Boris isn’t famed for that sort of forward thinking is he

Vaccinating kids seems like the next logical step, particularly teens.

Gov have pretty much said kids are all going to get it, and their policy is bearing this idea out.

Remote teaching is awful. Gcse changes need to be announced ASAP. (I predict March 2022).
