You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Go back the 1st Sept.

MsAwesomeDragon · 21/06/2021 17:02

That's a week after us. 4 weeks to go.

Another member of my department needs to SI as a close contact (not his fault). That means all his classes need to be covered, and our hod has tried to keep as much of that within the department as possible. So I have 5 lessons this week covering for this SI colleague, plus another cover for someone else for a middle leaders conference, plus my appraisal. So 7 lessons out of my gained time are being used up on things that are not my "gained time job", yet I'm still expected to get it all done in the same timescale. I have no idea how I'm going to get everything done!!!

MsAwesomeDragon · 21/06/2021 17:03

@motherrunner

We break up the 16th. Inset 19th/20th but we’ve done twilights since can take them in lieu.
This is what we're doing.

Piggy FFS is really all that can be said to that stupidity.

MrsHamlet · 21/06/2021 17:12

We finish on the 16th and go back on the 2nd.

MrsHamlet · 21/06/2021 17:13

We have 3 teachers self isolating - they're expected to teach remotely from home since they're not ill. Cover supervisors are sitting in the lessons but lessons are being delivered via teams.

WhenSheWasBad · 21/06/2021 17:20

I’m the same as motherrunner finish on the Friday. Inset days are 19th & 20th but it’s in lieu due to twilights.

Start again on 31st Aug for an inset day. We get a longer break at October, which I think is very sensible.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/06/2021 17:25

I've just been able to bring forward my 2nd vaccine to just after 8 weeks after my first. The ht is getting twitchy about rising cases and is wanting us all.souble jabbed asap. I will be happier too to have more protection. It's not possible to cancel already mad appointments so I have booked the new appt and will phone up this week to double check the appt so officially on their records (though I have an email confirmation) and to cancel my original 10 week appointment.

Namechercanged · 21/06/2021 17:34

MrsH That's the expectation re isolating staff at my place too.

chocolateisavegetable · 21/06/2021 17:36

Cake and Flowers to the birthday girls

Jan we also break up on the 23rd here - it's a nightmare isn't it Sad We go back on the 2nd September although hopefully I'll have escaped by then

CarrieBlue · 21/06/2021 17:40

We break up 23rd, training day 26th covered by twilight and back in on 6th - we had 7 weeks last year which was a bit of a waste but sounds like we might get a quieter week before we go back again at the start of September?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/06/2021 17:52

That is mad of the admin thing then Piggy

I have no words on the other thing.

CallmeHendricks · 21/06/2021 18:21

Yoohoo! GinWine

Fizz for breakfast, wine at lunch and more fizz now.
Can we do the cake part any time soon?
Have you had a good day too, MrsH?

ChloeDecker · 21/06/2021 18:26

Can we do the cake part any time soon?

Anyone got a lighter for the candles!? Grin

I break up in the 23rd and back on the 1st. No longer half term in Oct. Feel like I’m being short changed a little!

MrsHerculePoirot · 21/06/2021 18:26

I’m here for the birthday party!

Happy birthday @MrsHamlet and @CallmeHendricks🎉🎉🎉

ChloeDecker · 21/06/2021 18:33

Right, I’ve turned the music up-any requests ladies?!

Mistressiggi · 21/06/2021 18:37

Too early for ABBA?

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/06/2021 18:37

I happened to hear “It’s Raining Men!” on the radio yesterday and had forgotten what a blast it was...?

Let’s get our Monday afternoon party started (I now have a - possibly - clean gasket, after much scrubbing, fiddling, and viewing of YouTube videos from such channels as SqueakyCleanMom, where they demonstrate how to clean their already clean-looking washing machines Hmm)

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/06/2021 18:38

Never too early for ABBA! Just heard something about the SQA (or something related?) being abolished as not fit for purpose @Mistressiggi?

TheHoneyBadger · 21/06/2021 18:38

Back from the gym and pleased to see I haven't missed the calorie free cake.

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/06/2021 18:39

I have the matches. There’s a nice round 25 candles, that’ll do won’t it ladies Wink?

noblegiraffe · 21/06/2021 18:40

Anyone got a lighter for the candles!?

There are quite a few candles tbh. It might take a while...

noblegiraffe · 21/06/2021 18:40

Oh you are nicer than me, Jan Grin

MrsHamlet · 21/06/2021 18:45

I've eaten lots of cake but there's always room for more...

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/06/2021 18:45

Obvs, noble Wink

noblegiraffe · 21/06/2021 18:49

It's a chocolate cake, yes?
