You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Happy birthday MrsH and Ange!

My birthday is in deepest darkest December but at least it’s not deepest darkest January when everyone is broke. My DC’s birthdays are in July (2 weeks apart), we have BBQ parties!

Bit hungover. Had first meal and drinks out since I don’t even know when. I may have had all the food and all the drinks. Thankfully not teaching till late morning.

Happy birthday, birthday girls!

Busy day today if all my students rock up - but more dreading all the extra curricular stuff for my own kids this week, I’m fed up of ferrying!

Piggywaspushed · 21/06/2021 08:18

so, the MTU that comes into schools doesn't report the results to schools.

You couldn't make it up.

Uh? Comes into school, uses your staff to run the tests and doesn’t report back to you? No, you couldn’t make it up. But that’s par for the course with anything schools/Covid related, isn’t it?

My decision to pack in my job seems sensible in retrospect. Loads of teaching staff off ill or self-isolating at my former place of work. But I know I was lucky to be able to retire (even though I had planned to keep working for another two years). I don’t think I’ll bother with supply now, I’ll do some volunteering to make good use of my time, just going to fill in a Wildlife Trust form today.

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/06/2021 08:51

WHAT, piggy??? Do they report to PH??

Happy birthdays Ange and MrsH!

Can anyone enlighten as to how CAGs work? I’m rather confused as to how this is being done and unless I know I can’t say whether I think my son’s school (former school now but that’s another story) have done this fairly. He only took two early GCSEs but it seems to be a rather secretive process largely based on mock tests taken in March (which I felt was far too soon). If results are not gathered on mass then there cannot be the norm referenced system we are used to. If it was criterion based, like primaries use for Writing at the end of KS2, then that makes these assessments totally different to all other years and negates any year on year comparison, surely?
