You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Have a lovely time noble

By the way - I have seen Ed Gamble live (pre-Covid), and he was brilliant Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 31/05/2021 10:11

Are you ok herc?

Have lovely days everyone. I’m contemplating the gym.

MsAwesomeDragon · 31/05/2021 10:37

Is there anything we can help with herc? You ok?

Piggywaspushed · 31/05/2021 10:52

Bah! Tried to book for Comedy of Errors after DH said he would come (having consulted test match schedule...) and you can only book single tickets!!

Anyone been to the theatre alone ever??

MrsHamlet · 31/05/2021 10:56

I went to see Jane Eyre at the National on my own. But it was so dreadful that I left in the interval.

Beachhuts90 · 31/05/2021 11:08

I used to go to the theatre alone ALL the time when I was younger. I used to do short courses in London, and since I'm not from the UK I'd be on my own exploring and seeing shows etc. Not fun to be a Globe groundling alone but I really liked seeing west end stuff on my own.

Beachhuts90 · 31/05/2021 11:09

We saw that on tour. Not one of their best productions! Small Island is probably their best book to stage adaptation recently, I think.
HarrietDVane · 31/05/2021 11:15

Hope you're ok Herc

JanFebAnyMonth · 31/05/2021 11:19

Oh herc hope things can be untangled in whatever way will be best.

I have avoided camping for 53 years but recently have said I’d be prepared to give it a go as long as it’s not too cold AND I’m doing it with someone supportive of my ignorance and fears. Mainly ignorance.
I’d love to be by the sea but will settle for a long walk across the fields.

Bullying is so dreadful, I’m so sorry for your DSs.

cantkeepawayforever · 31/05/2021 11:23

Great. Trapped waiting for an NHS 111 call back - raging infection that 1st course of antibiotics hasn't touched. Feeling grotty, and DD has just returned from party / sleepover at which she had an emotional breakdown. All going well here....

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 31/05/2021 11:33

Hope everything sorts itself out Herc. And that 111 get back to you quickly. can’t.

You’ve managed to pick the right weather for down here DrMadeleine. Have fun and don’t be tempted to do any work.

Clockspanner · 31/05/2021 11:41

@MrsHamlet Yes we would have preferred a more natural route but they really wouldn't stop coming back one year so DH cracked and they've pretty much been clear since then.
Hope everyone has a great Bank Holiday Monday Smile

Clockspanner · 31/05/2021 11:45

Sorry @HercwasanEnemyofEducation and @cantkeepawayforever I didn't read all the subsequent posts before adding mine and I'm worried it reads as insensitive now, but I hope you're both going to be ok very soon!

HarrietDVane · 31/05/2021 12:02

Hope you hear from 111 soon Cant - hope you feel better soon and DD is ok.

borntobequiet · 31/05/2021 12:10

@HarrietDVane was it the interesting mix of neighbours that alerted you to our possible proximity? I’ll give another clue - from my window I can see @motherrunner’s holiday destination (and she could see where I live across the valley if on top of the hills).

cantkeepawayforever · 31/05/2021 12:17

@HarrietDVane

Hope you hear from 111 soon Cant - hope you feel better soon and DD is ok.
They have called back. More antibiotics, for longer. These ones make me nauseous, but frankly I'm ok with that if they do the job.

Still praying I'm fit to drive up to my parents' house on Thursday - haven't seen them since last summer as they're in Wales.

cantkeepawayforever · 31/05/2021 12:18

i will say here that motherrunner will have seen my old secondary school from her hills.

motherrunner · 31/05/2021 12:23

Have just packed up and heading home now. Have had a lovely weekend. We walked from Priory Park up to the top of the hills yesterday - took a while as the 99 Steps were closed. Must have tired the kids out as DS slept til 8.30 this morning!

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 31/05/2021 12:28

Thanks all. Yes I'm OK, parents have just realised how shit he is (re booze). Sister and BIL have taken H out for the day. Not sure it's the best solution as he gets a kid free day but I need some mum and dad TLC.

Hope you get something soon cant.

Aphids I have memories of my nan using neat fairy liquid...

DreamingofBrie · 31/05/2021 13:14

Herc, Flowers. I hope you're ok.

Hope you feel better soon too, Can't Flowers.

I'm determined to get my ironing done this afternoon. Boys out on a PoGo walk and girls revising. Hoping for a bit of peace and quiet!

HarrietDVane · 31/05/2021 13:32

@borntobequiet - your description of my local demographic was terrifyingly accurate. And I too can see @motherrunner's holiday destination from my home! Wink

motherrunner · 31/05/2021 13:47

@HarrietDVane i apologise for your home town being over run with all us Black Country folk this weekend! Nearly back home now. We stopped off for lunch in Upton and had a picnic by the river. Now the not so fun bit - unpacking the car!

GuyFawkesDay · 31/05/2021 14:30

Tourist central here. Bad move deciding to drive through town!! Ah well, BBQ and booze will suffice

MrsHamlet · 31/05/2021 15:01

I teacher voiced a woman in the garden centre cafe. The friend I was with was rather taken aback 🤣

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 31/05/2021 15:17

I’ve just been out. I’m not leaving the house again til autumn. They’re still arriving in train and bus loads.

Haven’t even headed towards the beach.
