You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

@Medra

Also *@9pmcouchnaps* if you’re in Yorkshire let me know. We have a vacancy.
I’m not in Yorkshire, but thanks. Hope you find the right candidate. What languages does your school offer?
DrMadelineMaxwell · 22/03/2021 20:35

I can cover ks2, esp y6. The only mfl I can offer is Welsh.
I can cover science and music and play the piano in assembly...when we can finally assemble once again.

JanFebAnyMonth · 22/03/2021 20:51

Oo, can we have a staff choir that rehearses at a time I can actually make, DrMad?

TheHoneyBadger · 22/03/2021 20:55

@JanFebAnyMonth

Do we need some male teachers maybe?
Fuck no!

Interview is Wednesday morning Jan.

Worse than not recognising it wasn't rafals I had to go and google rafa king of clay to discover he is a tennis player.

Rule is HT then yes?

Looks like we're alright for all subjects at all ages and have some cracking tas.

lonelyplanet · 22/03/2021 20:58

I'll join your choir Jan. Not great but enthusiastic.

CallmeHendricks · 22/03/2021 20:59

I'm in.
I can do yrs 4/5/6

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 22/03/2021 21:10

I'm in, maths, stats and pse. Happily join the choir too. No children younger than 11, preferably not younger than 14.

phlebasconsidered · 22/03/2021 21:11

I'll join the school! I have taught A level history, psychology and politics, gcse history, ks3 history and geography, and year 6 everything. And I survived a year 6 PGL and year 11 geography field trip in January where we measured longshore drift in Sheringham. The one thing I cannot do is KS1. And music. I bloody hate that.

namechangedyetagain · 22/03/2021 21:18

I'm happy to do KS1 Smile. My fave year is 2 but have also TAd in 1 and eyfs.

Big interview day on weds then, @TheHoneyBadger. Me tooShock

TheHoneyBadger · 22/03/2021 21:18

I'd like KS3 and 4 History (phleb can do a'level) and I'd love it if I could offer GCSE Sociology.

I want a 0.5 timetable plus I'd quite like to be head of ks3. Think we've had this discussion before about ks3 being undervalued and under resourced.

Would countenance doing RS with the little ones so long as they don't have that snotty noses or need anything wiping.

TheHoneyBadger · 22/03/2021 21:19

OOh that's a new development isn't it name?

cantkeepawayforever · 22/03/2021 21:24

I'm in. KS2, pretty much anything but not PE. Or Geography, if it can be avoided (the fact I only did Geography for 2 years in my entire education is achingly obvious). If I could be in charge of liaising between KS2 and KS3 to ensure continuity of the Maths curriculum to maximise children's progress, I'd ADORE that.

ChloeDecker · 22/03/2021 21:31

Ah, PGL. Happy memories. Particularly loved the all staff one (no kids) I did with colleagues about 10 years ago. Marchants Hill I think it was.
Epic weekend that was!

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 22/03/2021 21:35

I can do any year in primary but would quite fancy a year off from children. Can I be in charge of displays and tidying for the first year. I love a staple gun!

CallmeHendricks · 22/03/2021 21:36

Do we have to do SATs in our lovely new school?
If so, I'm withdrawing my offer of Yr6. Done my time with all that shit over the years.

CallmeHendricks · 22/03/2021 21:37

Ooh yes, biscuits! Me too. I'm good at displays.
And music. Grade 8 piano, if anyone's interested.

CallmeHendricks · 22/03/2021 21:38

And PGL! I went up the top of that telegraph pole with the bird table on top, once.
Kids couldn't believe their eyes.

cantkeepawayforever · 22/03/2021 21:43

Ooh, Hendricks, would you lower yourself to do a proper Primary School Assembly Piano Thump so the primary section of this school of ours can sing all the traditional favourites at the very tops of their voices? We'll let you do Proper Sensitive Stuff for shows and carol services and things, and I'm really good with music stands and music sheets if you fancy a junior orchestra but need a gopher...

JanFebAnyMonth · 22/03/2021 21:50

I am most definitely NOT doing PGL or at climbing of poles....

HarrietDVane · 22/03/2021 21:55

Add me to display detail, please! I can bring my own staple gun... Grin I love making displays. It's one of my favourite parts of the job.

MrsHamlet · 22/03/2021 22:02

I'm not doing outdoors things either. I'll do gardening club at a push but I'm not orienteering

JanFebAnyMonth · 22/03/2021 22:05

MrsH We can do theatre trips instead, no prob!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/03/2021 22:08

I love a PGL. Always happy to get up on top of the telegraph pole.

CallmeHendricks · 22/03/2021 22:11

I have to admit that my telegraph-pole-vaulting days are now over since I broke my leg a few years back. But I am good at rustling up warming drinks for people who've been out in the rain and cold.

winewolfhowls · 22/03/2021 22:16

Could i join the school as the tea lady who has those giant silvery teapots and the soggy toast made with Morrisons cheapest margarine substitute? I will quiz you about the location of the tea spoons but on the other hand I will wash your mug if you slip me a custard cream.
