You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

But just before that, noble, he is engaging in athletic hours-long sex so, y’know 🤷‍♀️

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 24/02/2021 18:55

Oh god.. that picture. I'm just eating a baked camembert. Vom.

noblegiraffe · 24/02/2021 18:56

I'm just eating a baked camembert.

😂 really bad timing!

Michino · 24/02/2021 18:59

Another one delurking here. I'm a TA in a year 3/4 class. I'm with 13 KW & V children at the moment. As a 62 year old asthmatic who hasn't been vaccinated yet, I'm not looking forward to the 8th March when their 23 classmates come back!

SmileEachDay · 24/02/2021 19:01

I’m with Saucery re Goldblum.

Appuskidu · 24/02/2021 19:08

I’ve just been catching up on the news-is it right that secondary school teachers will be choosing the pupils that need summer school?! Can see that going down well with -neither- kids and parents!

Will you be choosing Bob, @MrsHamlet?! Bet it’ll be wankGrin

MrsHamlet · 24/02/2021 19:12

Yep... Bob all the way 🤣

TheHoneyBadger · 24/02/2021 19:17

I've had it confirmed I'm group 6 but same deal with the booking page - anyone who isn't over 70 or an nhs or social worker (because those social workers are at such higher risk than us) can't book.

Sounds like some areas are way ahead of us.

Bless you Michino - all the idiots saying all vulnerable staff will be vaccinated before March 8th must annoy you even more than they do me.

MrsHerculePoirot · 24/02/2021 19:19

Welcome to all the delurkers!

@HerdyGerdy did you ask about tax and pay earlier? We have this a bit as our pay rises are always backdated to September and we get paid the backlog in January which results in the tax codes going up until they realise we’re not getting laid that much each month! They should however automatically sort it out, but if not contact them, once you get through they are very helpful!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 24/02/2021 19:21

Grin

Piggy how are you now?

Michino · 24/02/2021 19:24

Thanks for the welcome. I'm just cooking my lateral flow test now. I can't use that website to see if I can book a test as I live in Wales.

Michino · 24/02/2021 19:26

Vaccine

Not sure how I could get laid any less.
CallmeAngelina · 24/02/2021 19:33

Has anything been said anywhere about who is going to be delivering these summer school sessions?

TheHoneyBadger · 24/02/2021 19:33

@Michino

Some people are getting laid and Michino is cooking tests - I'm doing everything wrong.
TheHoneyBadger · 24/02/2021 19:35

CallMeA Gav said the government is giving schools loads of money so they can hire people whether that be existing staff or errrr, you know, other staff who can offer really high quality worthwhile provision.

Not sure who those people are. Looks like rip off supply agencies will be getting a good cut of the pie too.

JanFebAnyMonth · 24/02/2021 19:40

Me too honey. Altho I have got a vaccine booked..... I'm starting to worry that's some kind of error as two other same age-bracket, similarly non-vulnerable neighbours I've spoken to haven't had the call-up. Weird.

I saw parents Utd angsting over "the teachers will choose" - goodness knows where it's come from. People don't seem to realise there's no way we can force kids into school in the holidays... is there?? I suppose it might be doable legally but it would cause such an unholy row that I can't see it somehow.

Bob will love summer school I'm sure!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/02/2021 19:42

Are they angsting that we won't prioritise Tobias and Millicent? We know how much they 'truly' care about the disadvantaged till it comes to the idea of them getting something extra.

JanFebAnyMonth · 24/02/2021 19:42

What is the law - remembering that Disapplication Instrument thingy Gav signed - is it that if a child's registered at school X, parents must ensure attendance during school X's (published-well-in-advance) terms or something?

DollyMixtureLulus · 24/02/2021 19:43

Just caught a report on the news about schools in Europe- 6 children in the classroom!

I've been in Primary 1 all week and I am dead on my feet. I much prefer the big ones Shock

MrsHerculePoirot · 24/02/2021 19:46

Oh no... it must have been that shag, marry, kill talk subconsciously entering my brain despite me trying to block it out 🤣

TheHoneyBadger · 24/02/2021 19:47

Ooh just remembered I had an interesting email today inviting proposals from teachers of History and English for summer school modules targeted at year 10 students less likely to attend university. If successful you have to plan and resource an 8 hour module including self recorded videos, extended worksheets for independent work and some sort of assessment (that's what I can remember off the top of my head). It pays £1000 if any English teachers are interested?

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 24/02/2021 19:48

Dolly Is this the same news that makes our classrooms look like social distancing is taking place?

JanFebAnyMonth · 24/02/2021 19:50

No honey Tobias and Millie-for-Short are U4T's kiddos. Parents United are what was originally BRTUS then PUAUS, so more.... hmm not quite Bob, but more just Hannah and Daniel. Some of them are a bit 'don't let the state take our kids' lives over'.
SmileEachDay · 24/02/2021 19:52

@TheHoneyBadger I’m interested! Can you send me details?
