Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

I think alien species are probably inventing rockets that move away from earth really fast having observed Bojo and his band of wankers for the last couple of years.

Our school have sent out numerous letters, permission forms etc to parents. Have said 'let us know by fri if you're up for testing (I paraphrase) as we can't plan it all until we know how many tests we need to do'. Which I was slightly surprised at as it did have a whiff of non-enthusiasm about them!

Also yet another email asking to be informed of anyone who's tested positive since 29 Dec as they can't be tested for 90 days.

Then another one a few hours later saying oops we meant since 4 December!

Glad you all sound as random as me today. I have been teary on and off all day at the thought that dh is getting his first dose on Fri. My lovely secondary teacher sil got her first dose today so cried at that too.

Both TAs in my year group are cv though and no vaccine for them yet. I have told them to double mask and get their 1:1 children out in the playground for as many sensory breaks as possible.

I have no lessons recorded for tomorrow but looks like engagement levels of children are nose diving. I think the parents are just ground down and know the children will be back in school soon. I can't really blame them really.

Head has made the excellent decision to cancel all assessments for this term so we can focus on teaching and talking to the children. We are not to 'waste time' on assessing as we don't know what might happen next apparently. Head is visibly delighted at the news of any member of staff or their family getting vaccinated. I can sort of imagine she's chanting, 'please no one die' over and over it her head. Must be so awful to feel responsible for the whole school community.

Oh yes one of our teachers got vaccinated today, and apparently heard whilst there that (at least at that centre), they're significantly under capacity in terms of bookings and are therefore delighted to do teachers, just try booking and say you're a key worker.

But I thought you had to have an invitation unless you're over 65/60/whatever age the MN threads say??

Jan I tried to book a couple of weeks ago for a vaccine, but I wasn't eligible. So the system wouldn't let me through. Maybe it would now. I'll try it and report back (I suspect I still won't be able to)

I tried booking but it was v clear no proof of NHS worker = no vaccine.

Seems madness there's people out there actively wanting it and centres aren't operating at capacity because people 'aren't allowed' to book.

Nope. Can't book without lying about my occupation, which I'm not prepared to do. I'll wait my turn, but will ask about the vaccine when I order my repeat prescription tomorrow. I am in group 6, so should be contacted soon, it's just annoying not knowing when

I drive past 1 twice a day. Not a busy area when the local school is closed to all but KW but fairly built up and a main route of the city. No discernible increase in traffic at commuting time.
I feel a bit sick I drive to a job that sees me exposed to so much risk but am blocked from getting a vaccination.
There are no mandatory regs at school after all. Why are so many parents taking the risk with staff who can choose what mitigations they put in their classroom?

We're assessing year 10 in the second week back (which will actually only be their first week back after a week of testing). My hod apparently fought for this to be postponed, but was overruled as parents need a progress review before Easter apparently. I'm not convinced any parents would care too much if we delayed reporting on their progress til after Easter in order to give them some time to settle back at school before we test them in every subject
