You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

They shouldn't hurt rule?

WarriorN · 23/02/2021 17:07

I'm confused, we've been doing lft at home for weeks?

MsAwesomeDragon · 23/02/2021 17:08

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot

I don't really want to do a test twice a week - they hurt and are shit. But I've just seen in the RA that we'll be 'spoken to' and 'encouraged', so you know.. testing twice a week it is!
I don't want to do it either, because the tests are so unreliable. But I'm an obedient soul, so I'll end up doing it anyway.

Are you primary? I'm secondary, and haven't been on site at all, so haven't been tested at all. I think primary staff have been testing at home while secondary staff are testing at school if/when they are on site.
WarriorN · 23/02/2021 17:10

This is the weird thing, when I was concentrating on not fucking up the test it really tickled and hurt my nose especially. Gagging etc.

Over the last week I've been doing them without really thinking too hard if that makes sense and I noticed this week's didn't hurt. I pushed the nose thing in further than before too.

JanFebAnyMonth · 23/02/2021 17:11

Crikey there's at least two posters (so presumably at least two schools!) saying their school is aiming to test everyone prior to the 8th!

I hope they are going to be exceedingly careful about distancing each and every student for the whole time they're in school as we are still in lockdown.....

noblegiraffe · 23/02/2021 17:11

LEAK ALERT:

We are to submit student CAGS mid June and results day will be in
August, not July as the consultation suggested.

JanFebAnyMonth · 23/02/2021 17:12

Warrior's a SEN teacher

RandomGrammarPun · 23/02/2021 17:12

Yep! At least two SLTs who can't read.

noblegiraffe · 23/02/2021 17:13

I pushed the nose thing in further than before too.

It's the hole to your brain getting wider and wider....

What were those hooks that people making mummies used to hook the corpse's brain out through their nose called?

piggywaspushed · 23/02/2021 17:13

Oh Lord noble : does that mean we will have kids in school with nothing to do in English_ up til then!?

piggywaspushed · 23/02/2021 17:15

I have unresolved issues with some stuff and cannot do LFTs in public places. I really can't. Going to cry again now.

MrsHamlet · 23/02/2021 17:15

Oh fuckit, noble

Be more Bob. I ain't fucking doing it.
noblegiraffe · 23/02/2021 17:18

Hadn't thought about that, piggy Shock

SmileEachDay · 23/02/2021 17:19

Where’s the leak noble?

I think my DC school is going to try for this too. They were ready to start in January- and every weekly newsletter reminds us that they're keen to get started ASAP.

RigaBalsam · 23/02/2021 17:26

Wonder how long they expect year 11 to stay in school.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 23/02/2021 17:26

I've had far fewer kids sending me work today after the announcement that we'll all be back on the 8th.

Me too! Only 3 turned up to each of my maths and English sessions.

We planned our English unit to go straight over the 8th March - it's 3 weeks long, 2 weeks at home, 1 in school - in the hope that it might force them to engage. Haha.

LFTs hurt when I do the throat thing - not when I'm doing it, but they make my throat sore. I'm not going anywhere near my throat with them anymore, just nose.

motherrunner · 23/02/2021 17:30

On our school calendar Yr 11 are scheduled to do Work Experience in July as they missed our in Yr 10, so all academic year.
Saucery · 23/02/2021 17:31

KS2 love a description of transnasal brain removal. Almost as much as a race to see who can wrap their partner up in toilet paper to make a mummy the fastest Grin

I quite like a description of transnasal brain removal too. It just sounds really weird and gross. I obviously never really grew up Blush

Ah ok yes primary Sen.

They aren’t mandatory. I’m not doing them.
