You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Yup, agreed Angelina

I want my own emoji 🍫

RigaBalsam · 21/02/2021 19:05

I loved the raggy dolls. Sadly I resemble sad sack these days too.

TheHoneyBadger · 21/02/2021 19:09

There are some really aggressive posters. On the thread Chocolate and I finished the other day I was really stunned by just how aggressive and combative some posters are - usually out of nowhere too like they haven't even been on a thread then just turn up braying and baiting like pissed blokes looking for a fight.

I missed the threads Noble - you come across as very thick skinned but still, not nice.

I think I'm in denial that we're back to work tomorrow. I did go and check and I have set work on GC for my lessons tomorrow (worried I dreamt it) and I have set everything on GO for the next fortnight for all my groups (pretty much see GC for today's lesson x a zillion and clarifying which are live lessons etc). That then helps me to remember when to set work on google classroom - with shared groups I find it hard to remember when the partner teacher would have had them and panic about missing lessons. If they're all on the homework schedule on GO I can easily check rather than searching up other people's timetables repeatedly.

My first lesson is not till period 3 tomorrow so it's a fairly relaxed start!

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 21/02/2021 19:14

I have spent the weekend planning my escape route out of teaching. I think I've got it sorted.
I'm also going to put my foot down about all the extra lessons in STILL doing (because I'm a mug who wanted to do well by the kids, and have trouble saying no), and possibly talk to the GP about stress.

I saw some of the thread in Covid but didn't have chance to read it all before it was deleted.

I can't believe people think it is ok to harass you like that 🦒. Very impressed that you have your own emoji though!

StaffRepFeistyClub · 21/02/2021 19:18

We need Noble to head up the DfE.

What's the plan? I also need one.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 21/02/2021 19:47

Does the escape route pay the same with the same holidays? Pretty much the only thing keeping me in. (for the stalkers, no it's not a vocation, it pays the bills. I do like children though).

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 21/02/2021 19:49

Ed Psych seems to be money for old rope. Repetitive stuff that most SENCOs can suggest without needing to pay the 500 quid fee. £20k for a conversion course though, and then you need sponsorship.

Appuskidu · 21/02/2021 19:54

I’ve looked at retraining as an Ed Psych. I would have gone for it had it been just a masters like it used to be, but a psych conversion and then a 3-4 year doctorate with 80,000 word research project would just about finish me off, I think.

I thought about doing the L7 dyslexia assessor course as well but it’s bloody expensive and then there’s quite a lot of ongoing stuff that comes with it to maintain the qualification as well. I presume if self-employed rather than working for a dyslexia centre etc, you’d have no pension as well.

I’d quite like to do counselling but that was really expensive as well.

motherrunner · 21/02/2021 20:02

Actually the more I think about it, the angrier I’ve become. We’re all laughing @noblegiraffe’s emoji off - and quite rightly she’s a superstar - but wtf? This is turning into out right bullying. The hope HQ step up.

Yep.
RigaBalsam · 21/02/2021 20:07

It really is!

Corporate trainer and learning technologies.

No it is not term time only, and will involve a bit of retraining expense and I will have to start back at the bottom, but progression can be very quick.
I'm hopeful!
I'm lucky to live near 2 cities which are home to lots of global IT businesses.

I'm really hoping this will pull together my passion for teaching, plus my experiences in various different professions while I was young and trying careers out for size.

motherrunner · 21/02/2021 20:09

Is there anything we can do? @Saucery and I got some individual posts taken down yesterday but can we complain about a seemingly ‘hate campaign’ towards an individual poster? It just seems if noble puts her name to anything there’s a pile on.

SmileEachDay · 21/02/2021 20:12

I’ve emailed HQ.

MrsHamlet · 21/02/2021 20:17

It's really interesting that the threads noble starts always turn vicious.
I went to a girls' school and some of it very definitely reminds me of those nasty girls. It's deliberate.

MrsHamlet · 21/02/2021 20:18

Sorry ... the threads she starts about schools. I don't know about the bird watching one!

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/02/2021 20:22

Glad I missed today's antics really.

Noble, I think there'll be quite a few glasses of Prosecco lined up at the bar .... or, on a picnic rug, when we have our party on the hill.

thecatfromjapan · 21/02/2021 20:22

I've contacted MN.

I've seen this happen before - and it's not OK.

SmileEachDay · 21/02/2021 20:23

It’s not even just threads and starts. It’s when she joins other threads. It’s totally unacceptable.

I hate it.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 21/02/2021 20:24

when we have our party on the hill.

Will that be the 'no masks in classrooms' hill they've all died on. Grin

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 21/02/2021 20:26

If you're interested in counselling I can recommend researching into a play therapy masters. I looked into it but then decided that actually I wouldn't be very good at it - being more of a nerdy than "fun" type
