You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I am just trawling through my Teams to see who has uploaded work.

It makes me laugh when students say that they have been busy so didn't manage to do my work. Busy? Busy doing what?

I am not going on the other threads as I am too scared to go outside the staffroom for the next 24 hours

I need to get on a diet, aiming for 10k steps a day and determined to start running again. I really struggle to get steps in when remote learning.

MrsHamlet · 21/02/2021 18:13

My coconuts were insufficiently dedicated to becoming biscuits - they look shite!
I was planning to hide them in my study and eat them whilst teaching

motherrunner · 21/02/2021 18:13

Been having a good chat with my nurse friend (same age as me so 43) this afternoon via WhatsApp as to what makes us just ‘keep going’ and why did we choose this profession since we Uni. We have no clue! It was just something in us and we despite the shit we can’t imagine doing anything else - why is that? And if there are people like us, who want to be public servants, what aren’t we respected for that?

DD is 9. When she was 2 she lined her teddies up and ‘taught’ them. She loves school and she gets commended in her reports for helping others. She’s a Brownie, a volunteer at her dance class and wants to teach. This makes me sad rather than proud,

Have we had this from yesterday's guardian yet? Surprised I didn't see this on twitter tbh.

KatherineOfGaunt · 21/02/2021 18:13

I've had a planning day today, @HercwasanEnemyofEducation, and managed fewer than 1,000 steps Blush

There's a whole thread about that article out there .

"I am not going on the other threads as I am too scared to go outside the staffroom for the next 24 hours"
But that's exactly what some posters want us to happen.
That said, it's probably wise.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 21/02/2021 18:15

rafals We must move in different twitter circles, it's been widely sagged off in my feed! They've moved on from fronted adverbials to maths.

SmileEachDay · 21/02/2021 18:16

Me too Herc

I’m going to teach standing up this term, see if that helps.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/02/2021 18:17

I haven't really been out there, this weekend Katherine.

I might go and look for it.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/02/2021 18:19

I think I did see something about fronted adverbials, but assumed it was carrying on from the last argument about fronted adverbials.

StaffRepFeistyClub · 21/02/2021 18:27

@motherrunner I am secretly pleased that I have dissuaded my DD from teaching (at least for a while). I used to let her read some of the hilarious emails I got from SLT/parents/students and when I said what my actual hourly rate was she was horrified. She now has an engineering job that she loves

Officially Mumsnet royalty now Noble. Smile

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/02/2021 18:33

CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2021 18:35

On another thread they used the giraffe emoji to signal noble. Oops probably get in trouble for talking about a thread.
noblegiraffe · 21/02/2021 18:36

Well done Pumpkin! What's your next step?

mumsneedwine glad you've made that decision, you must be feeling like a weight has lifted.

noblegiraffe · 21/02/2021 18:38

Two threads all about me in two days. I'm going to be bigheadedgiraffe if it continues.

mumsneedwine · 21/02/2021 18:42

🦒🦒🦒🦒🦒 s rule 😊

motherrunner · 21/02/2021 18:44

Wow @noblegiraffe, you had your own emoji! You’re honoured! I think mine would be 😩 (the emoji version of Sadsack from the ‘Raggydolls’ for those us who can remember that cartoon).

WhenSheWasBad · 21/02/2021 18:51

How do I miss all the exciting threads? Love that Noble has her own emoji.

CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2021 18:54

They weren't exciting - they were pretty unpleasant, to be honest. Glad they're gone.
