You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Blimey. Ventured outside the staffroom, but have resisted posting. So, it would appear that "Kevin's mum" really does exist?

Staying in here now.

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 21/02/2021 16:21

How's that "not posting" going, Angelina? Grin

I haven't been testing at work. I can't bring myself to gag, snot and cry in the school hall. I did do it once because I felt obliged, but didn't do it properly because I thought I'd be sick and it still came back negative. There has been one positive in what, five weeks?

I want to go back for the selfish reason that I want my kids taught. If I catch Covid, as some of you have said I won't be working because I'll be focusing in me and the DCs - their school sure as hell won't help them so that's where my teaching efforts will go. Just got everything crossed to be well during the holidays.

It's a shame, I don't give a fuck about anyone else any more.

RandomGrammarPun · 21/02/2021 16:47

There is no "void" or "inconclusive" result for LFTs, unlike PCRs. If you test a blank swab, it comes back negative (which test centre staff haven't tried this? Grin)

RandomGrammarPun · 21/02/2021 16:48

Oh, my mascara always runs so I make sure I go after my last live lesson, but before them!

RandomGrammarPun · 21/02/2021 16:49

Not before them...

Cantaloupeisland · 21/02/2021 16:51

Photos in a DM article captioned "all children will return to school on March 8th." I just can't imagine them printing something so definite if it wasn't the case, they'd look pretty daft. Hopefully we'll get to Easter without too much disruption!

thecatfromjapan · 21/02/2021 16:54

@Piggywaspushed

Oh I left the staffroom. Stupid stupid stupid.

Me too.

I'm incredibly angry right now.

thecatfromjapan · 21/02/2021 16:55

In other news, the weather is just lovely here. At last.

Beachhuts90 · 21/02/2021 16:58

Same. In this nice weather I am beginning to allow myself to think about when we will be allowed to have friends round for a BBQ or similar. Even imagining it seems indulgent!

PumpkinPie2016 · 21/02/2021 16:59

Been hibernating for a few days but, my NPQML write up is finished 🥳🥳🥳

I've actually done it!

For better or for worse, it's being sent Grin

Sorry, very self indulgent but I'm so happy!

SmileEachDay · 21/02/2021 17:02

I'm incredibly angry right now

Yep. Me too.

motherrunner · 21/02/2021 17:02

@PumpkinPie2016 Yay! You should be so proud! 🥂

SmileEachDay · 21/02/2021 17:03

Well done Pumpkin!!

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 21/02/2021 17:03

Well done pumpkin! And kudos - I dropped out of the npqml half way through 😳

thecatfromjapan · 21/02/2021 17:03

Well done, Pumpkin.

TheHoneyBadger · 21/02/2021 17:07

Well done. I had a double take at those champagne glasses - they look like chicken legs to me.

KatherineOfGaunt · 21/02/2021 17:08

Well done, @PumpkinPie2016!

I'm working on a post grad diploma. Currently on teaching practice!

eitak22 · 21/02/2021 17:10

Well done Pumpkin.

I'm currently ignoring the news and social media but am furious after finding out a friend who works from home has the vaccine and I know as a 30 year old I'll be lucky to get it in July. She works from home and barely leaves the house pre covid.

Need to calm down but can't, people honestly don't care if teachers die or get sick. Keith starmer needs to either work in my classroom or get back to the commons with no social distancing and masks and see how safe he feels!

RandomGrammarPun · 21/02/2021 17:16

Me three.

I loathe myself Grin

MrsHamlet · 21/02/2021 17:20

Congratulations pumpkin
I don't understand the absolute loathing some people have for teachers.

MsAwesomeDragon · 21/02/2021 17:21

Well done pumpkin.

chocolateisavegetable · 21/02/2021 17:35

Well done Pumpkin

CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2021 17:38

@MrsHamlet

Congratulations pumpkin I don't understand the absolute loathing some people have for teachers.
I suppose that on here they can be "brave" enough to say what they don't dare in real life. And I think some people are quite simply furious when teachers (you know, those of us who were actually IN classrooms last Autumn term Shock ) come on here to tell of the realities of it. They would prefer not to know; as someone-or-other said on a thread somewhere, they don't care if it's not safe, they just want their kids in the classroom, end of story.
