You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Well, no. But for future reference...
JanFebAnyMonth · 19/02/2021 17:37

The Mail is describing it as "9 teaching unions gang up on PM" Hmm

Saucery · 19/02/2021 17:40

Some sections of society are shit scared unions will come back in any meaningful reincarnation, aren’t they?

Piggywaspushed · 19/02/2021 17:40

Oh poor Boris. Bless him.

MrsHamlet · 19/02/2021 17:40

Poor diddums, Boris.

So gin... Hendricks, Hendricks lunar, Bombay, 1689, a Pienaar Orient gin, WN Blackberry/ rhubarb/ raspberry, Gordon's lemon / pink. Few miniatures and a few more bottles in the garage but it's cold and wet and I don't want to venture out.
Maybe I'll just have a cup of tea insteadBrew

Saucery · 19/02/2021 17:46

I’m listening to Ella Fitzgerald I never bother with people I hate

Wise words. We need to be more Ella. Wink

MrsHamlet · 19/02/2021 17:47

I quite like the Gordon's pink VERY cold with plain tonic.

GuyFawkesDay · 19/02/2021 18:01

I like salty/airy gins or those with a nice sharpness. I can't bear sweet ones.

Tonight I am on simple tanqueray with plain tonic and plenty of lime.

Beachhuts90 · 19/02/2021 18:01

Gordon's lemon with tonic is lovely. We always go through it too quickly though!

RandomGrammarPun · 19/02/2021 18:02

Well, I've just lost an entire day recording lessons for early next week... Fine and fair enough apart from the hour I spent trying to fix my laptop because the camera was broken, installing updates, deleting and reinstalling apps, restarting machine and researching replacement laptops (via checking me bank balance 🙄) only to realise there was a function key to switch off the camera which had obviously got knocked... What a dickhead.

Hope Ophelia has had bettee news, and bad backs and shoulders are easing for all.

RandomGrammarPun · 19/02/2021 18:04

Sorry, Mrs Hamlet didn't name check you as 1% doubting my memory for whom it was Flowers.

No gin here but am seriously considering skipping dinner and going straight to ice cream.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 19/02/2021 18:05

I'm joining the gin drinkers tonight. Got a sipsmith on the go at the moment. All time favourite is Tanqueray 10 with Schweppes tonic (full fat). We have sampled many bottles, Ophir is nice and crisp. I'm not a fan of flavoured gin but Sainsburys did a blackcurrant one that isn't sweet which is nice.

That ribble Valley looks nice, going to order a bottle.

That thread noble Grin

MrsHamlet · 19/02/2021 18:07

My favourite gin is Tonka which my sister gets me in Germany. I was meant to get some at Easter. Can't see that happening 😢

StaffRepFeistyClub · 19/02/2021 18:08

I have considered giving up teaching and making gin instead. Often mull over business ideas.

One person I know retired and now makes jam and marmalade which she sells at farmers markets - she went online at the start of Covid

I don't like gin....

Just sorting thru some old documents of my brother's including simple English plus symbols versions of tenancy agreement etc etc.... Now there's simple English and there's wrong English:
his former home is described as being "situated in a colder sack." Grin

StaffRepFeistyClub · 19/02/2021 18:09

Silent Pool gin - delicious

Important gin info: B&M Bargains (classy bird, me) have Verano Sicilian Lemon Gin for 12.99 - a proper bargain! I may have bought 10 bottles because pandemic, innit!

Piggywaspushed · 19/02/2021 18:11

I like gin but prioritise wine of a weekend and rarely drink at any other time.

Two gins and I am weeing all night.

MrsHamlet · 19/02/2021 18:12

I would not like to live in a sack. I especially would not like to live in a colder one 😂

JanFebAnyMonth · 19/02/2021 18:18

Indeed!
