You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

@noblegiraffe fantastic! We still have him here. It's been wonderful ❤️😊

CallmeAngelina · 17/02/2021 13:21

I asked the question on a thread the other day of how many people would be happy to attend a party of, say, 30 people any time soon (if officially allowed). In a smallish room with no opening windows.
Also tumbleweed.

noblegiraffe · 17/02/2021 13:21

Wow, after not having seen him for so long, actually having him home and for a decent time period must be heaven!

Yup. It's been fabulous. He's coped really well. His language has disappeared a bit but he is in a bouncy good mood.Like Tigger!

Am amused by the Us4MPs posts on Twitter today.

Get those poor MPs back to parliament in person so they can do their jobs and as there’s no evidence covid is transmitted there. It’s so important for their mental health. No ifs, no buts!

@Monkeytennis97 am so happy for you and DS - I'm glad he's so bouncy !

Piggywaspushed · 17/02/2021 13:49

I have just (optimistically maybe) booked 4 nights in a cottage this summer.

Barnard Castle. Genuinely Grin

SmileEachDay · 17/02/2021 13:51

Barnard Castle. Genuinely

Pahahahaaaaa. Brilliant.

You’ll be able to go regardless of restrictions then!

noblegiraffe · 17/02/2021 13:53

Well it did sound lovely.

And you must visit their Specsavers.

BustopherPonsonbyJones · 17/02/2021 13:56

So pleased for you, monkey.

DreamingofBrie · 17/02/2021 13:57

Lovely news, monkeytennis 😊.

Trying to catch up on some work with my own dcs this half term. So dd doing Dr Frost, ds1 doing Corbett and ds2 brushing up on his handwriting. No devices until this, music practice and outdoor time done and no devices before 3pm. Apart from ds2, they are being quite good natured about it.

I need to look at y8 today but no energy.

I note, in that article, Boris is about to touch a CHAIR!

MrsHerculePoirot · 17/02/2021 14:10

@Monkeytennis97 sounds like bliss!

@Appuskidu that is GENIUS!

This is great because you will be also able to get your eyes checked at the same time.

Barnard castle is actually lovely though!

ChloeDecker · 17/02/2021 14:13

You are both incredible!

Sooo Oh school has bit of an outbreak, primary school, low kW kids numbers, 5 staff and a child positive so far... Seems focused around the very years that everyone is expecting to be the first back, eyfs and year 1. Bit scary. Hoping they are not really ill and have mild cases.

MsAwesomeDragon · 17/02/2021 14:20

I really like that #us4mps, they really do need to be open first and closed last!! Grin

Brilliant news monkey, I'm so glad you've got your happy, bouncy boy with you for a decent amount of time.

Today is my big tidy day. Dh is in the office today, so I can do stuff in the living room while he's not in there working. I've spent a good couple of hours tidying the living room!!! Dh's desk was completely disgusting Envy but I suspect he'll be annoyed rather than happy I got rid of his growing pile of rubbish (anything that wasn't obviously rubbish is in a pile for him to sort for himself). I discovered 5 teaspoons, 3 knives and 2 forks. It's like living with a teenager. my pile of craft stuff and my workspace on the dining table may have been just as gross

Piggywaspushed · 17/02/2021 14:26

DS1 does keep saying he needs an eyetest, to be fair.

Piggywaspushed · 17/02/2021 14:27

Also, meant to mention. I got a whacking 2% off with Discounts for Teachers, if anyone else is looking.

GravityFalls · 17/02/2021 14:27

Has anyone else done All The Things?

I’ve practiced piano, read some of my book, done puzzles with DD, coloured with DD, been for a walk, played stupid phone games, sat outside and done a drawing, read all the internet and now I am BORED. There isn’t really anywhere to sort out unless I go in the cold conservatory, and I should go for a run but I’m never bored enough for that. I used to subscribe to the “only boring people are bored” theory but that was until I stayed at home for a fucking year.

sherrystrull · 17/02/2021 14:31

Me. So bored. I've even done shredding that I wasn't bored enough for in the first lockdown

BustopherPonsonbyJones · 17/02/2021 14:31

I would like to be doing All The Things but have reports to write. Hence why I am on Mumsnet, pretending I am doing my reports.
