You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Yeah, I don't mind though. I said I'd still be in my dressing gown, which is apparently 'expected'.

I'm glad to have my proper Head back.

Loving the thread saying that schools should be vaccination centres and teachers should be the ones wielding the needle. Is there anything we can't do.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 30/12/2020 17:48

I've felt like this for ages. I'm in the North of England and in an area that a few months ago was considered one of the worst hit in the country. No-one gave a shit.

I know, I mean, ffs, we must be kick ass at the hospital thing as our numbers have been shite for a while and yet I know from a hcp on one ward, they've been ok and kept to one ward.

You forget that we're shit at our actual job according to most of mumsnet
hedgehogger1 · 30/12/2020 17:50

Maybe we've missed our calling and we just be jabbing people with needles

At least they admitted we couldn’t teach at the same time as vaccinating the public.

hedgehogger1 · 30/12/2020 17:51

Apparently they're a teacher? Fucking idiot

blackwych · 30/12/2020 17:53

Can't believe I am expected to go to work in a primary in a tier 4 area next week. No vaccine, no mass testing, no protection and no thought from anyone for the health of school staff in this situation. My school hasn't even been that bothered about keeping bubbles apart.

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 17:53

That was lifted off Twitter forma completely misunderstood and ill advised tweet.

Just console yourself with ParentPing and YouGov. The loudest bashers do NOT represent a majority view.

Ignore ignore and scroll on by.

SaltyAF · 30/12/2020 17:55

@DrMadelineMaxwell

We're still stuck going back in for remote learning with KW kids in on the 4th with the county deciding WTF they are going to do on the 6th.
If it's down to county I can guarantee my kids won't be allowed to go to their school.
DecemberStar · 30/12/2020 17:55

Thanksto you all.

As an aside, the death figures today do NOT mean that number died in last 24 hrs, remember it's just when they've been reported. HOWEVER, this means that we're still waiting for some backlog reporting from all four nations, and that, with the effects of Christmas mixing and the new strain, the figures will likely soon genuinely be that many a day, or higher.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 30/12/2020 17:55

I'm getting my U4T voodoo doll pot to practise.

oddsbodkins · 30/12/2020 17:56

So Boris said: 'The problem is not the schools...the issue is the spread from the mixing of households...that's what we're trying to combat'

What does he think these kids do at school? Sit in a room by themselves? Not a sodding clue...

MrsHamlet · 30/12/2020 17:56

1400 in roll. 10 applicants for key worker spaces. 2 testing volunteers.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 30/12/2020 17:57

I think it was this numpty:

DecemberStar · 30/12/2020 18:01

Wow @MrsHamlet . Whereabouts are you??

Monkeytennis97 · 30/12/2020 18:03

@blackwych ThanksThanksThanks

FrencheFancie · 30/12/2020 18:03

Sigh. I guess we'll getting a fresh wave of these threads in the next few weeks :

=> AIBU to think live lessons should be provided?
=> Can you tell me what provision your child has had so I can check if my school is normal? (complete with a faux innocence head tilt).
=> AIBU to be cross? No contact from school, not even a phone call home.
=> My friend's child Cressida has daily live lessons, lessons marks on the spot and instant access to her teacher... AIBU to be cross that my child's teacher isn't up to scratch?

I may have to ignore the main boards for a little while...

MrsHamlet · 30/12/2020 18:10

@DecemberStar

Wow *@MrsHamlet* . Whereabouts are you??
South Cumbria. We've gone from tier 2 to tier 4. I live in a tier 3 area which goes to 4 tonight.
eitak22 · 30/12/2020 18:10

FFS! I will be isolating when a contact and will not use testing in its place as it can be 10 days before showing symptoms and I'm not putting my husband at risk - I'd rather quit my job that pays pittance than do that.

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 30/12/2020 18:13

Yes I think the best thing is to avoid those threads. Some are just designed to wind us up and some people are so bitter that we are an easy target.

There will be loads of 'this is not meant to be teacher bashing but ' as we all pile in to say it is different for us providing a full timetable were as their DC haven't received a phone call.

I am very thankful for this thread, especially today. It is reassuring to know there are others who completely understand, even if the man in charge is an idiot.

CallmeAngelGabriel · 30/12/2020 18:17

So, if I'm OK to go into school and mix with hundreds of people perfectly safely next week, I think I might go out partying on New Year's Eve.

Why the fuck not?
