You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Ooh Meg Hillier’s up.

Useruseruserusee · 30/12/2020 16:58

@cantkeepawayforever

Useruseretc,

When you find the list, could you post a link here?

Thanks

Will do, although not hopeful it will be any time soon to be honest!

All week here we have had emails from the council instructing us not to go to A&E unless life is genuinely at immediate risk as they are overflowing and can not guarantee treatment. I’m relieved that it seems our schools will be closed but why would they want to let other areas get to this level of pressure before taking action?

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 30/12/2020 16:58

I like Meg - she makes him nervous

We can't sit in classrooms with a load of known close contacts to a positive. We just surely cannot consent to that? How can anyone think that's ok for us?

Evvyjb · 30/12/2020 16:58

Right, who wants a wine? I've got...
Pinot origin
A nice cremant de loire I was saving for tomorrow but oh well
The end of the baileys somewhere

And a jumbo bag of lidl fancy cheese and onions.

Going to stop planning the AfL weeks for Y11, because they're not going to be able to do those online when we have all their papers!

Butmiss · 30/12/2020 16:58

@Useruseruserusee I think my borough is too.
What a mess. For school staff and parents trying to plan for next week.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/12/2020 16:59

He says we're going further - we're actually doing less! No isolation? It's insanity.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/12/2020 16:59

I’d pay good money to watch her give him the grilling she gave the permanent sec from the DfE the other week.

Hercwasonasnowball · 30/12/2020 16:59

Many clarity on 7,8,91012 yet?

I'm beyond angry, more weeping at the sheer fuckedupness of it all.

Evvyjb · 30/12/2020 16:59

Origin?!?

Viciouslybashed · 30/12/2020 16:59

WHERE ARE THE UNIONS. Literally this. Where are the people to protect teachers and support staff and everyone else. It's made me so cross I am in tears of rage.

hedgehogger1 · 30/12/2020 17:00

How do we get onto our union about this?

TheHoneyBadger · 30/12/2020 17:01

I've got a 14.5% Rasteau that this may merit.

My intention is to try and not drink in January so need to drink all the alcohol in the house by the end of tomorrow. This shitshow has made that a little easier.

I'm really not sure whether to shout or cry!

namechangedyetagain · 30/12/2020 17:01

Just re read that statement. Hasn't helped. Testing (which I'm not doing - can I refuse?) will not stop transmission. At all. If parents don't consent to testing, and still send their symptomatic / asymptomatic child in, it's still able to transmitted to the whole class, no?

And yet I still want to teach. Just so cross that no one cares. I'm in 2 unions and not heard from either, only my student union who have told us to stay at home not that I've even seen the inside of uni for just over 9 grand

chocolateisavegetable · 30/12/2020 17:01

They've mentioned that teachers will go up the priority list for vaccinations - does anyone know if this includes support staff?

Achristmaspudsskidu · 30/12/2020 17:02

Where is this bloody list then? There’s still loads of parents, teachers and heads who have no idea of their school is open Monday or not?!

Looking at the infection list, we are in the top 10 worst areas, with a hospital that is already overwhelmed but is that enough to ‘qualify’?! Might it just be the top 3? Top 5? Just London?

HarrietDVane · 30/12/2020 17:02

Thanks for the new thread. I’m so upset. I’m genuinely afraid and can’t stop crying. We are nothing to them. Our lives are worthless.

Because that will keep more children in the classroom and the DfE attendance figures will go up.

This is actually something some MN posters were calling for months ago.

Fucking disgusting and I will not consent to it.

lonelyplanet · 30/12/2020 17:03

@SantaAssociationRepresentitve

A testing scheme that has an accuracy rate of less than 50% !

I will isolate thanks not rely upon a dodgy test

It was found to be 3% accurate!

If someone does not consent to testing, they must isolate.
Monkeytennis97 · 30/12/2020 17:04

From the DfE.... what does this mean? They can move kids from non open schools to open schools?

I might start drinking my JD cinnamon fire by the tumblerful...
starrynight19 · 30/12/2020 17:05

Surely unions need to ballot now for strike action , everyone hates us anyway what have we to lose. About time we put our own family first for once.

PumpkinPie2016 · 30/12/2020 17:05

Honey I really can. I also don't think parents at the school I work in would be happy to accept that.

January is looking more depressing by the day. I am going to have a takeaway tonight to compensate even though I couldn't run today because of ice/snow.
