You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

If we are positive contacts and refuse to do the shiteral flow tests, do we self isolate? Are we then not paid?

I don't know but I will ask.

There’s a few lists flying about on Twitter.... not sure where from.

Saucery · 30/12/2020 17:18

We will be identified if we say we have a temp/cough and go for a proper test (even if it is 15 miles away). Or wait for a postal test. Surprising how many times I could feel a bit warm in a term.....

Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 30/12/2020 17:19

They havent written the list yet.

DecemberStar · 30/12/2020 17:19

Prof spiegelhalter on R4 just now pointing out that LFTs not designed as an "enabling" test .... may lead to further outbreaks.

phlebasconsidered · 30/12/2020 17:20

The fb page of the place I teach is full of parents jubilation about us "having to" open. While they remain at home. Having had a lovely social xmas.

I am off, for even the tiniest sniffle from this point on. If they make us sit in the same room for inset on Monday i'm going to flip out.

Bastards. London-centric, appalling specimens of humanity bastards Angry

ChloeDecker · 30/12/2020 17:21

Thanks Ruby and welcome!

That potential list interestingly does not include Greenwich but it’s neighbouring boroughs. Gav still holding a grudge?!

SmileEachDay · 30/12/2020 17:22

OK so I think what Blojo said was remote teaching for exam years from 4th to 11th, then they are back in.

Term start delayed for non exam years until 18th. So - I guess - - no remote provision for them.

Primary and EYFS totally screwed over.

If I suspect a child within a couple of metres of me having it I will go for a test.

We actually have more direct contact with some students than their parents do and so we can be pretty good at spotting who is unwell

Saucery · 30/12/2020 17:25

Agree, Staff. You get to know the illness ‘tells’ very well. In fact, sometimes we have picked up on behaviours and signs that are passed onto parents and they get back to us to say that yes, X did throw up/feel unwell that night.

CallmeAngelGabriel · 30/12/2020 17:27

On this list that has been showing on some sites, my school straddles two areas; half our catchment lives where they're saying no f2f opening???

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 30/12/2020 17:29

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 30/12/2020 17:29

We have the same problem @CallmeAngelGabriel

NeurotreeWenceslas · 30/12/2020 17:29

So sen schools remain open what ever.

Half of me is relived half of me worried. Surely we must then count as health staff and be offered the vaccine in those areas?

(I'm not but really feeling for anyone in that area.)

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 17:30

Can I ask WTAF are years 7-10 meant to do in the first week back if their DPs send them in as SEN , vulnerable , KW??

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 17:30

Yeah me too ange.

CallmeAngelGabriel · 30/12/2020 17:30
