Where the dickens has it gone? Is it gone gone? Has it been renamed and I just can't find it?

OP posts:

@spanieleyes

What is "that community"? The staffroom board is a NEW community, not a replication of an old one.
What garbage. It is exactly the same community. All the same people with mostly the same username/avatars. All that is different is management. It's like when a crap SLT take over the running of a school. Soon be in special measures.
Weald56 · 23/01/2021 09:27

Oh dear, I have to say the quality of posts (and vitriol) of so many posts here shows how wise the moderators of the new Forum were to exclude the troublemakers.

PriscillaChinchilla · 23/01/2021 09:30

I'm finding the sour grapes bitching quite entertaining. Keep it up, lads.

I'm still in the new forum. Can't say this stuff on the site. Queen Emily will have my guts for garters.

And a troublemaker is exactly what you are doing here right now. You might, of course try being constructive as Mr Needabreak is kindly doing.

Proof if needed that the new forum is not quite so entertaining given the uniformity of most members.

You are more than welcome to contribute your thoughts here.

"Be excellent to each other"

More hypocrisy.

"And a troublemaker is exactly what you are doing here right now. You might, of course try being constructive as Mr Needabreak is kindly doing".

Actually, @Kandahar, I'm trying to add some balance.

Calling people "troublemakers" is adding balance?

If so, it might be well to do so a little more politely. Two of the trouble makers recently banned are in their eighties.
farqueue21 · 23/01/2021 09:46

Disgusting what they have done to both you and Florian.

MonicaBilongame · 23/01/2021 09:46

The ProBoard site now attracting refugees from the community boards is a private forum with rules and guidelines on what behaviour is expected and acceptable. The people who set up the forum and moderate it have the right to decide not only how they want the forum to run, but also who they want to be on there.

To those who have already joined and been banned, I suggest you look at your own attitudes and posting history before getting all upset because you were not allowed to stay. If you have fallen foul of the rules then it's because you have fallen foul of the rules, not because anyone is being 'mean' or 'spiteful' or is 'in a clique.'

Getting banned because of your own behaviour and then whining about it on here is the typical behaviour of a stroppy teen who needs to grow up and start taking responsibility for their own actions.

ALL the posters so far who have been banned from the ProBoard site had writted posts that were argumentative and designed to provoke negative responses from others. They were given chances and continued.

There was more than enough of this on the TES community board, and the moderators weren't effective enough to stop it happening. The ProBoard site is not TES, and the inflammatory posts and trolling behaviour that these posters got away with on TES will not be allowed on the new site. You have no automatic right to join a private forum and will get no sympathy if you do join only to then try and continue your disruptive behaviour - behaviour which was in part the reason for the TES community board being withdrawn.

So, dear trolls, if you want to join in then you have to come out from under the bridge, put down your clubs, and start behaving like sensible adult people who know how to be polite. Grin

My Farqueue account was banned without a reason given and to describe people like Kandahar and Florian as trolls is ridiculous. You have been on TES long enough to know that is not true.
Kandahar · 23/01/2021 09:57

Hello Monica.

You disappointment me given my efforts to research the Giant Sun Trolley for you given my part with the similarly named Su Trolley in 1967.

You might want to consider that your unpleasant post here in itself represents trolling behaviour.

I trust that it was an unintended post in haste.

Weald56 · 23/01/2021 10:04

"My Farqueue account was banned without a reason given ".

@Farqueue - perhaps consider your choice of user name...Was it just intended at be provocative? 😉

Florianus · 23/01/2021 10:10

I'm afraid, Monica, that Emily Strange merely asked if I was the same Florian Gassmann - the one who had been a member of TES for 16 years, who has posted some 22,000 messages in a number of forums and had 20,000 "likes" for those messages. When I said that I was, she accused me of being a troll and banned me.

Do you think that is a fair way to run a forum? Is there anything in the handful of posts that I made to the Staffroom that was against the rules? Emily Strange did not inform me that I had posted anything against the rules. I ask, again, Monica, if you can tell me how I broke the rules. If you cannot, I can only conclude that Ms Strange is running the forum according to her own prejudices, and not according to any of the published rules.

No mention was made of my username. It would have been easy to change if that was the problem. I don't know if it was that or not. I was never told or warned. Just banned.
Florianus · 23/01/2021 10:36

@MonicaBilongame, you claim that "ALL the posters so far who have been banned from the ProBoard site had writted posts that were argumentative and designed to provoke negative responses from others. They were given chances and continued."

I did not write any argumentative posts - if I am mistaken, please quote what it is that you claim to be "argumentative".

Neither was I "given chances", whatever that is supposed to mean. Ms Strange merely enquired if I was Florian Gassmann and, when I confirmed that I was, immediately banned me.

I'm afraid you are being seriously misled if you think that Ms Strange runs the forum in the way that you imagine.

Zelda20 · 23/01/2021 10:41

It's Emily's forum and she can run it as she likes. If you dont like it, tough. All she has asked is that people are polite, courteous and considerate when posting. Due to the unpleasant posts on here I can see why some people aren't welcome.

MonicaBilongame · 23/01/2021 10:45

My apologies Kandahar and Florian - I should have said 'all the posters whose posts I had seen who have been banned'... and I've personally never had any issue with you Kandahar.

Fact remains that Emily is the final arbiter. If it had been me and I'd really wanted to stay I'd have asked for time and space to prove myself...

Brian35 · 23/01/2021 10:52

You can all discuss, here, all those things that couldn't discuss there.

And you won't have to keep claiming you can't discuss them.

I'm welcome. I'm still on the site.

Of course Emily can run it as she likes, but suppressing views that do not coincide with her own will not lead to worthwhile discussion; it will simply produce a mutual admiration society.
