Where the dickens has it gone? Is it gone gone? Has it been renamed and I just can't find it?

OP posts:

@BGRKE

It isn't a lie, I have seen what happened to one poster, and from the text conversations I have had, it is more than one.
The only poster I have seen removed deserved to be. They came with the obvious aim of causing trouble. I doubt very much that you can substantiate your allegations. Interestingly you and and @quarks appear to have joined up here very recently, possibly intending to cause trouble for the new forum on this thread. Were you the poster removed from the new forum a few hours ago?
spanieleyes · 10/01/2021 08:19

I would suggest that BGRKE and quarks set up their own forum and leave the rest of the 300ish of us to co-exist quite happily in the staffroom where we can be mature adults rather than petulant teenagers!

PriscillaChinchilla · 10/01/2021 08:33

I'd be more inclined to believe quarks and the other one if they could provide the Tes user-names of the people claiming to be unfairly banned, but I doubt they'll be able to provide them.
I smell bull-shit.

It's a very well set up site with fair, clear rules. Break them and you will be asked to leave. Fair enough.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 10/01/2021 09:50

It is a lie because no one is banned unless they breach the rules of the site. Just like anywhere else. If you reach the rules, you can expect to be removed.

catmothertes1 · 10/01/2021 09:52

@BGRKE

I actually think that is a pretty rubbishy thing to do. We are in a lock down, FFS. some people are entirely on their own without any human contact what so ever. Don't tell people they can come and join your new gang, then ban them as soon as they say hello. Crap behaviour. Who behaves like that?
"Your new gang"? I'm surprised the word "clique" has not been used yet!

That sounds like a very sensible solution.
Foxyloxy1plus1 · 10/01/2021 10:17

I think it’s apparent from what has been said on the new forum, that there is gratitude for its arrival and many thanks to those who started it. There were people who were very lost and lonely at a difficult time of year in the midst of chaos and it has been of enormous benefit.

Some of the threads on TES became very unpleasant very quickly and moderation was poor. We know that the moderators on the new forum won’t tolerate that kind of behaviour and those who tried it have found themselves removed speedily. Quite right too.

BGRKE is apparently a previously banned poster here too, they've had another fictitious thread removed.

I hope they get the help they need. Seriously - I'm being sincere.

That doesn't surprise me.

@PriscillsChinchilla you're evidently much nicer than I am.

PriscillaChinchilla · 10/01/2021 17:36

Lol.

Doubt it...

I wouldn't bother. They are not interested in debate. Soon as you take a view they don't like you get banned. I have been on TES 20 years without a problem. The emilystrange woman is correctly named.

HeeHawHeeHaw · 11/01/2021 23:34

"farqueue21" - I get what you did there. What was your name on TES? No, didn't think you'd reveal that. There was a toxic element on TES and many people are glad to not have to encounter it again. If you're so unhappy why not set up your own place?

farqueue21 · 11/01/2021 23:49

I broke none of the rules. When I questioned which rule I had broken I was immediately banned. I was never once put on moderation on TES. The emilystrange woman has performed a good service, the site looks good and she has made many people happy. If she is going to dictate what people can and cannot talk about however then the more opinionated posters will be forever treading on egg shells to avoid her wrath. I have seen it already with Red. It will happen with some of the others. I know them too well. Hopefully the TES site will be back soon.

stamfordbridge · 11/01/2021 23:49

Debate there is fine. Having a go at other posters, posting rudely or aggressively isn't. So often, it's not what people post it's the way that they post it.

If you have been on TES for 20 years, you'll know exactly what I mean.
The last few years on there have no been pleasant on some threads, because of sneery, nasty, aggressive posts.

farqueue21 · 12/01/2021 00:08

People always tend to look at the past with rose coloured glasses. The last few years have been the same as it ever was. There have always been heated debates. People have been getting banned all the time in the 20 years I have been on and they return multiple times. It was ever thus. Now is no different.
