Where the dickens has it gone? Is it gone gone? Has it been renamed and I just can't find it?

OP posts:
@Hexadelica That's great news - we'll just have to keep -pestering- sorry, asking, if it takes too long.
Yes, agreed. I'm contemplating phoning them in the New Year.

catmothertes1 · 30/12/2020 17:50
@Hexadelica Thanks for Sharing the news that TES Community will definitely be returning. I can imagine that one of the first threads on Personal after it returns will be one full of outraged posts about it vanishing.
@Hexadelica
@ Bebinn

Thanks.

Let's hope we don't have too long to wait!

stamfordbridge · 30/12/2020 17:51

@PriscillaChinchilla

Oh balls. I put little asterisks around that sentence and it came out in bold. Looks a bit harsh and threatening now!
No worries - I wish I could get such things to work on my posts!
Geneaologist · 30/12/2020 20:22

Yes I would pay a subscription for site that provided the huge resource for teachers (and others) of advice, information and support that was TES. I would also volunteer time to moderate.
TES will have a new "chat" facility; that is clear because there is an option on the new screen menu.
Merry Christmas to everyone and thanks to Mumsnet for this thread.
Social support is vital always and more so just now. It was very callous of TES to withdraw the service over the Christmas season.

SarahLou67 · 30/12/2020 20:38

Hi there. I emailed TES and got a very vague message about how the site was down for maintenance. The non specific nature of this and indeterminate timing (is they didn’t answer the “how long will it be down for” has made me mightily suspicious. No warning. There are lots of posters on there who have close online friendships that are really helping them in difficult times. With the current nightmare facing schools so many of use need to find out what is happening. Some posters were so knowledgeable. I’m gutted.

SarahLou67 · 30/12/2020 20:43

Me too!! I didn’t mind it really. I’d rather be on a forum with impassioned debate.

SarahLou67 · 30/12/2020 20:47

Devastated to hear this. I posted regularly as Sally006 and remember and liked your posts lots.

Alenamai · 30/12/2020 20:54

Hi All, I was Alena and the Alenamai on TES from 1995. For the last 20 years I lurked rather than actively positing but I’m gutted it’s not there anymore. I think there is more to it than we are being told. In 25 years the site has never been down for so long. I think there is a chance that someone ‘higher up’ in government has been worried that education staff may use the forum to collectively use their voices regarding the shit show they are making out of education in this pandemic.

Murs · 30/12/2020 20:54

Sally006, I read and liked many of your posts on TES. It is cruel the way it was pulled so abruptly and without warning, I am pleased I found this thread on mumsnet and have found TEs people.

SarahLou67 · 30/12/2020 20:57

Absolutely, Murrs, thank god some of us have found this. How are you feeling about the return on the 4th. Must admit to feeling very nervous.

SarahLou67 · 30/12/2020 21:40

Needabreak please keep me posted if a new forum takes off. I’m thrilled to hear from many TES folks. It has given me hope. I miss Casandramark, Red Observer and Peakster. If only we could find a way to let them know about this.

Neededabreak · 30/12/2020 22:14

Gosh I'd forgotten Red, hope he's OK this week, maybe they'll find us soon, and Belle, Lan, Nomad...

I will keep you posted though not sure how viable it is if TES is back, though that said Kickstarter will hopefully be a good barometer more widely and in many ways the provision is different with huge potential :)

Geneaologist · 30/12/2020 22:25

I am now wondering if the "chat" option on the menu bar of then new updated Tes website is more akin to the "chat" that is an option on many sites - UPVC windows, that sort of thing. Maybe I am wrong. We cannot know yet what "chat" will deliver.

diddydave · 30/12/2020 22:43

Yes, I'm missing the TES community too...I had toyed with starting a FB page specifically for TPS stuff.

Bebinn · 30/12/2020 23:18

Glad you’re here @SarahLou67 Sally006 & @diddydaveSmile I hope the others mentioned above also find their way here too along with all those many, many TES posters not specifically mentioned of course.

PortugirlTES · 30/12/2020 23:36

Can’t believe I joined MN to find TES people. I’m a lurker there but it was my bedtime reading. Sadly missing it.

Neededabreak · 31/12/2020 01:27

Ian not Lan, for years I thought he was Lan... Like some sort of global Internet sever 🤣

Bebinn · 31/12/2020 04:15

Is it this Lan or Ian?

mobile.twitter.com/TLanokia

PriscillaChinchilla · 31/12/2020 07:34

Pretty sure it's Lan not Ian!

SarahLou67 · 31/12/2020 07:51

Morning all. Just checking in. Still a little shell shocked by the news that we in primary are all back next week despite spiralling infection rates. Well all except the London and Kent primaries.

sunshineneeded1 · 31/12/2020 07:57

Morning all - have changed username to TES one. Agree, @SarahLou67 - can't quite get my head round going back next week despite the still rising infection rates. I could cope better if they would prioritise us for the vaccine. There seems to be some talk about that, but nothing definite.

PriscillaChinchilla · 31/12/2020 08:02

Wow! Are you going back next week? That's madness.
My daughter's in primary school (Scotland) and she doesn't go back until Jan. 20th.

RoyBatty · 31/12/2020 08:03

Record infections every day currently. Hospitals in London declaring critical incidents, running out of beds. 500 deaths per day on average.

bojo said yesterday that schools are safe. They are the definition of unsafe. 30 or more people collected closely together in small badly ventilated rooms for hours on end. No distancing and no masks.

Primary students seem less likely to pass on covid19. But staff are still at risk from parents and each other. bojo is perfectly happy for teachers to take those risks. Supermarkets and all other public places restrict entry and demand people wear masks. Why not schools?

PriscillaChinchilla · 31/12/2020 08:03

Because of Covid, that is. Holidays have been slightly extended and she'll be home-educating for a week.

EverEdith · 31/12/2020 08:46

Hi - NannyOgg here. Seriously missing TESSERS but so glad to have found some of you on here xx
