You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

On the plus side, MNHQ just deleted both a shitty post about teachers and a shitty thread.

SaltyAF · 09/11/2020 06:03

Ugh, why is it always sodding Monday morning?

Saucery · 09/11/2020 06:18

I start my new hours/role today. So naturally I have been awake since 4.30am full of nameless terror. Hmm

Here we go, another week

PumpkinPie2016 · 09/11/2020 06:29

Morning allSmile

I made the mistake of clicking on an unpleasant teacher thread elsewhere on MN yesterday. Thankfully it was deleted soon after.

Work feels permanently busy at the moment- my to do list is a mile longSad Need to have a tricky conversation with a member of staff today as well which I'm not looking forward to.

On the plus side, I have Y10 and Y9 - both of whom are lovely.

motherrunner · 09/11/2020 06:31

Hello all. My first day out of the house since I broke up for half term, not sure whether to celebrate or cry!

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/11/2020 06:39

@motherrunner 🎉 hope it’s a good day!

Piggywaspushed · 09/11/2020 06:52

What was the shitty thread about? I am allowed to ask this, as the thread no longer exists!

It seems parents -at least on MN- are still very anxious about schools. Keeping schools open hasn't stopped, or lessened, the anxieties (or venom).

MistressIggi · 09/11/2020 06:59

I am adding "chess shark" to Noble's list of talents Grin
Have a good one everybody. And if it isn't good, I hope at least it's quick.

namechangedyetagain · 09/11/2020 07:00

How is it Monday already? Have a few evening zoom calls this week. Feeling so apprehensive about going into the new class today which is daft.

Will be amazed if I make it to Friday!

motherrunner · 09/11/2020 07:04

Just had an email to say Yr 9 have been asked to stay home due to staffing levels and we are being used for cover elsewhere.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 09/11/2020 07:30

No need to praise MNHQ for taking that thread down. They let it run for days reaching 700 plus messages.

They need to make money and want us to to subscribe

Maybe the begging bowl will be out again shortly which is why it was taken down.

They seem to enjoy dishing out warnings to us.

Yep it Monday so back into school

They took down "teachers are annoying me" - if we posted "parents/hairdressers/train guards are annoying me", you can bet it would come down a lot faster.
Train guards are annoying me, incidentally. They have a huge amount of the train cordoned off so they can "work safely" - which apparently doesn't run to checking tickets any more.

noblegiraffe · 09/11/2020 07:39

Which thread are you talking about, Staff? The one I saw get deleted was something like ‘aibu to be annoyed at teachers’ saying we all need to just get on with it, stop moaning yadayada.

Have a good week everyone!

motherrunner · 09/11/2020 07:42

Just found out all my dept is out for 14 days because one of us has tested positive. I missed it as was at home. I’m a dept of one for next 2 weeks!

MrsHamlet · 09/11/2020 07:49

Oh goodness mother - good luck!!

Augustbreeze · 09/11/2020 07:54

May the odds be ever in your favour , mother - they obviously are currently (sort of...) Smile

That god I missed that thread - wasn’t there one about our lives being worthless? Haven’t really been outside the staff room as it can be so grim

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 09/11/2020 08:43

EVERYONE is annoying me. the roads are SO busy! How is this going to help if everyone keeps going to work. No wonder they think we are snowflakes while they are carrying on 'as normal'.

August, my head said that the word on the street is after the 2nd Dec some schools will return on rotas, in some areas. Bet it won't be a directive , though, so that any school who does gets moaned about.

TheHoneyBadger · 09/11/2020 09:01

Morning. Sorry to everyone who's struggling.

I'm feeling quite down and anxious generally. Hadn't noticed it was sneaking up on me but this weekend there's a constant background feeling that I could just weep. Not over anything in particular just a close to tears feeling. Already on antidepressants. Think maybe not being allowed to go to the gym anymore has removed the thing that was bolstering my mental health.

Don't have to be in school till late today and only have 2 lessons thankfully so that's manageable. Still got the dread though.

CallmeAngelina · 09/11/2020 09:03

Was it one of our old friends who began the "annoying" thread? Or did they just turn up for the pile-on? So glad I missed it.

Augustbreeze · 09/11/2020 09:19

Take care HoneyBadger, going to PM you 🌹

Keepdistance · 09/11/2020 09:25

Do private schools and uni not break up pretty early December? So that might be the plan.
Others could take kids out early to isolate before x mas maybe around the 10th.
