You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Once more unto the breach dear friends.... 😁 I'm sure that's a misquote but it sounded suitably dramatic.

Mask up, peeps. Let's do this 😎

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/11/2020 07:28

Good luck all today!

MrsHamlet · 02/11/2020 07:29

My day has not been improved by the sodding train being late!!!
Can I please just go back to bed?

noblegiraffe · 02/11/2020 07:41

I'm going to win 'worst start'. Poured the last of a bottle of milk into my cereal. Poured new bottle into tea and it was lumpy. No milk left in the house.

Desperate for tea I made a new cup and tried to pour milk from my cereal into my tea. My tea now has weetabix in.

Piggywaspushed · 02/11/2020 07:45

noble that sounds like one of those disgusting yummy breakfast drinks you can buy in the porridge aisle.

SonyaCisco · 02/11/2020 07:46

Have topped up my antibac and got some new thermals to ward off the cold. And my fingers crossed for luck....we have 4 schools between us, if I include my eldest who is on placement on her PGCE - we have amused ourselves by placing bets on who gets sent home first - majority consensus is it will be my year 12 son - I have given him until week 3, he is more pessimistic and doubts they will last a fortnight! Good luck all!

ohthegoats · 02/11/2020 08:06

So it begins...

Head out
School office manager out
KS1 phase lead out
Cover teacher 1 out
Cover teacher 2 out
5 x LSAs out (no teacher can leave their room for anything at all, and there is no one to call)

Children safe? Who knows....

TheHoneyBadger · 02/11/2020 08:10

Yikes goats! What a start.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 02/11/2020 08:17

Good luck everyone.

noblegiraffe · 02/11/2020 08:20

Ok goats, you win over Weetatea. Blimey.

Have a good day everyone.

motherrunner · 02/11/2020 08:40

Oh @ohthegoats. That sounds awful!

Still considering what to deliver for the drama lesson ... maybe get DS to perform a comedy skit for them? He could entertain them with such crackers as ‘what’s a cat’s favourite colour?’ (Purr-ple) and ‘why did the cow go into space?’ (To visit their moo-n)

HerdyGerdy · 02/11/2020 09:03

Jesus ohthegoats and noble. What crappy starts.

Today we have a KS3 consultation day. WiFi doesn’t work in our building. Guess who has been put in an actual fucking supply closet for their day? I notice I drew the extremely short straw there out of the whole school 🙄 everyone else is in a classroom or admin office.

CallmeAngelina · 02/11/2020 10:04

Come on, goats, look on the bright side. There could have been half a dozen of you in there, protected by the special anti-Covid-spread ring that schools are blessed with.
Where's your "can-do" attitude?

CallmeAngelina · 02/11/2020 10:05

Sorry, that should have been @HerdyGerdy.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 02/11/2020 10:08

Gosh Goats that is terrible.

We managed to book a cover teacher for the week! Head is off along with 2 other members of staff.

One year 10 student parent emailed in saying student tested positive during the first week of half term so no idea of what is happening. Year 11 very subdued during period 1.

Good luck all - I will be back to start the next Republic later

Yikes goats!

We've got a lot of absence, luckily so far not too bad in terms of slt. Pretty tough for one class.

Saucery · 02/11/2020 10:45

We've all been advised by slt to wear a mask or visor all the time bar working completely alone or eating in staffroom. Got a proper "shit just got real" vibe around the place now.

Is wearing one whilst teaching encouraged now as well?

Is that primary or secondary?

Surely we can’t be far from masks for them and us while teaching?

It’s here vaguely 😂
Saucery · 02/11/2020 11:10

Primary. Teachers have mostly chosen visors. Support staff in closer contact with children wearing masks. Children taking it all in their stride from what I can see. They're so used to face coverings outside school they aren't phased by them on adults in school.

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/11/2020 12:00

Wow. Nowt here, though we were told to carry one incase in a close situation. I might start wearing one on principle to encourage others.

Appuskidu · 02/11/2020 12:04

There is a nice little video on the bbc news app today showing the areas of schools that you’re most at risk of catching Covid. They have helpfully highlighted them in yellow. I just thought I’d share it here so you were all aware and could avoid them Grin

We’re a four school household running a sweepstake too - DD thought she had taken it with a text from rugby to SI, later rescinded as contact’s test was negative. Then DS had to SI due to contact, but no symptoms developed. DH had phone call to say yr13 was positive but he wasn’t in close contact. They all had their money on me going first but not happened yet.

Makes the thought of getting sick worthwhile for the financial reward Confused

Augustbreeze · 02/11/2020 12:14

Wow @Appuskidu , classrooms are included!!!
