You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Thanks @MistressIggi it's always good to hear what we will likely be doing in a week or so after you trail blazers north of the border!

Augustbreeze · 01/11/2020 22:59

Actually it'll be really valuable to have the press interviewing Scottish staff and students on how it's going with masks....
Night all! Windy one here 💨

noblegiraffe · 01/11/2020 23:06

Ah no, surely they will just be popping up on the relevant Twitter threads saying "is that you, Noblegiraffe?" Hard stare....

Grin

I KNEW this would be you OP oh shit no it isn’t noblegiraffe Have you had a name change OP??

noblegiraffe · 01/11/2020 23:08

I can't drink so someone is welcome to my share of gin/vodka. Got some prosecco in the fridge I got last year if anyone wants it?

Inset for me tomorrow, hoping it'll be ok and useful well see.

noblegiraffe · 01/11/2020 23:16

Bagsy the Prosecco. I’m delivering a bit of INSET tomorrow so that will be amazing.

I wonder if the lockdown sceptics are going to start to have second thoughts when they realise their new leader is Nigel Farage?

DreamingofBrie · 01/11/2020 23:26

Noble, did you not see the comments about the unions working hard on Mumsnet? That'll be you they're talking about!

I bought these two gins whilst on holiday in Scotland in the summer, and can recommend them highly. Especially when Boris is on Grin.

Loshad · 01/11/2020 23:30

Duty, tutor time, six lessons, lunchtime single year group enrichment

DreamingofBrie · 01/11/2020 23:37

Someone on the #closetheschools thread talking about union infiltration of MN - they didn't mention you personally (I'm just joking!).
noblegiraffe · 01/11/2020 23:54

Probably is me. It's not paranoia when people do make stuff up about you behind your back...

It's really weird when so many posters I've never seen before really hate me. No idea why, I'm basically lovely.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/11/2020 05:37

Needn't have worried about setting alarms. I've been awake since 4 trying to relax and go back to sleep but head full of work stress. Couldn't talk myself down so gave up and turned the light on.

Mad how quickly the stress kicks back in.

PumpkinPie2016 · 02/11/2020 05:57

Morning all Smile I'm up and getting ready. Completely failed at going to bed earlyBlush

Darker mornings are not helping!

Looking forward to seeing the kids and my colleagues but bracing myself up for a long, tough half term!

Hope everyone has a good day!

ChloeDecker · 02/11/2020 06:00

Morning! Remember that we all have each other’s backs. Good luck today!

Saucery · 02/11/2020 06:23

Up and at ‘em, comrades! 🤛

I finished a very irritating book last night. Drifted off picking holes in the plot and wondering how long the author can carry on with his style and people still buy the books. Made a change from worrying about the coming working day Grin

RobertsUncle · 02/11/2020 06:29

Good morning everyone - best of luck today.
I didn't sleep well either.
I need to have a conversation about reasonable adjustments for reynaulds syndrome today. I suspect the response will be 'just wear gloves'.

HedyPrism · 02/11/2020 06:30

Morning all! I discovered a nail in my tyre yesterday so the 6am train it is! At least I can check my emails.

motherrunner · 02/11/2020 06:34

Feeling jittery and I don’t know why - I’m still SI. 5 lessons today, 1 being drama. Still haven’t thought of anything meaningful I can deliver love from home for that.

Will need to fit in time to download DS’ school work and make sure he does it, but also make sure he doesn’t interrupt my lessons. Going to be an interesting day!

Firstly I’ve got to get DD to school but for me and DS to avoid any people at all! She’s in breakfast club so although the rules are to take her to the door I’ll just sit and in the car and hopefully she’s responsible enough to get herself into school alone!

GravityFalls · 02/11/2020 06:44

Up and at ‘em guys! I had a dream I put the clocks back/forward wrong and didn’t wake up until 9.45 - fat chance, as even on holiday without kids I wake up at 7.30 at the very latest every single day, but stressful enough to propel me out of bed speedily this morning.

MistressIggi · 02/11/2020 06:57

I had an awful moment last night when dc woke up upset about something and I thought I'd just do a temperature check - and realised I was hoping for a temperature. BlushSad
Fortunately all was fine and in the cold (darkness) of day I am glad of that.
Good luck today everyone.

MrsHamlet · 02/11/2020 07:01

If you're my new member of staff, I apologise now! 🤣

monkeytennis97 · 02/11/2020 07:02

Good morning lovely people! Good luck to us all today🤞

MistressIggi · 02/11/2020 07:02

Hedyprism that is so shit!

WhyNotMe40 · 02/11/2020 07:09

Morning! Good luck everyone
Crappy nights sleep with kids having nightmares - ended up wedged in very little bed with kids cuddled up... Ah well, there's always coffee Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 02/11/2020 07:14

I have a late start today but have to be up early anyway to ensure ds is up and moving and out the door on time. I think he'd be a school refuser if he got a say in the matter. This morning he was like, can't we just pretend I've got covid and have two weeks off? Err no.

I'm wondering how many of my students are going to be as pissed off as him to be made to come to school during lockdown. There's going to be lots of whinging I suspect.

Good luck to everyone. I genuinely think that Sunday night is worse than the reality of Monday morning. It's the dread.
