You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Appuskidu

That’s sparkly gin. I had the elderflower one over the summer. It was delicious.

RigaBalsam · 01/11/2020 22:02

I am teaching three online lessons in school dreading it as need to take my own lap top in and use school wifi.

ChloeDecker · 01/11/2020 22:02

@Frlrlrubert

Right.

I'm all ready for tomorrow. I've bottom set y11 lesson 1. I'll need my game face in for sure!

Good luck everyone, sleep well

I have Year 11 period 1 too! (mixed ability though) Bring it on! will be muttering fuck off to the alarm clock when it goes off at 5:45 though
SmileEachDay · 01/11/2020 22:03

Top set Y10 followed by very bottom set Y11 for me.

The change of pace gives me actual whiplash.

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/11/2020 22:13

Hope the return for all tomorrow is OK. @MistressIggi is it right that students in Scotland are wearing masks in the classrooms now? I've lots the ability to remember who is doing what and where...

winewolfhowls · 01/11/2020 22:14

For a moment I was getting excited about the mulled tea. Did enjoy a cherry and cinnamon one this time last year though.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/11/2020 22:16

Is it all years back in tomorrow in England, then staying in when the lockdown kicks in?

In Wales Primary to y8 are back tomorrow, but the older years are still off for another week. I'm torn. I want schools to be safer and the virus to be less prevalent for the sake of the pupils and staff.

Yet, selfishly, my DD is y11 and didn't cope at all well with the first lockdown and I'm not happy with the thought of her missing this coming week. She's already missed time off for her own isolation awaiting a test, time off ill (not covid but another virus that lingered ) and then 2 weeks isolating due to cases in her year, now another week before she's allowed back in. We should hear whether GCSEs are to be cancelled this week. It will be a relief if they are.

Shit fuck bollocks. I'm free 1&2 tomorrow and have loads to do... forgot I'm inducting a new member of staff!!!!

SmileEachDay · 01/11/2020 22:25

“Hi new staff person! First bit of induction is the photocopier. I’ll have 30 copies of each of these - if you could read the safeguarding policy whilst you do it? I’ll be back to quiz you in half an hour.”

There. Ok?

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 22:27

Good news. Looks like golf might get a reprieve. DH will be thrilled . Grin

starrynight19 · 01/11/2020 22:28

That’s great news Piggy Grin

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 22:30

It's certainly the rumour madeline.

FrippEnos · 01/11/2020 22:30

@Piggywaspushed

No, it isn't allowed and I have reported.

Am fucking furious.

And that is actually quite rare for me.

If its anything like the normal moderation it will be one rule for us and no rules for the rest of them.
Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 22:32

Oh no.. it got deleted ! Happy to say.

That thread has become very nasty. Have stepped back from it.

MistressIggi · 01/11/2020 22:32

It's like the bar in the Overlook Hotel here.
@MrsHerculePoirot Scotland's plans are - staff everywhere have to wear masks if less than 2m from pupils (which will affect primary staff a lot I think). In tier 3 areas, which is most of the central belt including where I am, we do the above plus all S4 and above (so, 15+ basically) have to wear masks in class and so do their teachers.
A few schools have gone further than the government and asked for them to be worn by all secondaries. Lots planning to rebel, according to a certain group. We'll see tomorrow!

FrippEnos · 01/11/2020 22:40

Piggywaspushed

That is good to know.

FrippEnos · 01/11/2020 22:43

Sorry Piggywaspushed that should be good to know that it has been deleted.

noblegiraffe · 01/11/2020 22:46

It just occurred to me that some posters must be wetting themselves with delight that now there is a genuine campaign to close schools that they can rage against.

Maybe that lets me off the hook? They don’t have to pretend that’s what I’m doing any more.

Cracklefraggle · 01/11/2020 22:47

@MistressIggi

Bit odd to come on and announce it though. I don't like toffee vodka but I've kept quiet about it Smile
I've stashed some raspberry vodka under the scrap paper Grin
ThrawnCow · 01/11/2020 22:48

They'll find a way to blame you, Noble.

WhyNotMe40 · 01/11/2020 22:49

I've got "one up from bottom set" year 9 first thing. They are a tad tricksy at the best of times - but also have a high absence rate, so who knows.

Am I allowed to stay if I say I really don't like gin? Unless it's well hidden in a cocktail....
Don't know about toffee vodka but I remember getting absolutely hammered in my twenties on vodka that had had those vile pink chewy long sweet that had fizzy bits in it? Wham bar or something?? I think I must have liked it - drank enough of it! Grin

Ah no, surely they will just be popping up on the relevant Twitter threads saying "is that you, Noblegiraffe?" Hard stare.... Grin
MistressIggi · 01/11/2020 22:53

Raspberry vodka, I'll take off my coat. 😄
I remember a bar from my youth that was all flavoured vodka, it had about a hundred different types. Now it's all gin.
I'll take either, to be perfectly honest.
I don't let myself drink after a bad day at work, as let's face it I'd have few dry days if I did.

All though if you have an entire file of the most important policies that's even better. A thorough read should take most of P1 & P2, leaving you to get on with what you need to do.

ohthegoats · 01/11/2020 22:53

Go to bed now dudes! Good luck... cos that's all we've got #gamefaceon
