You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

DH now shouting at telly about football.

He really is an outrage .

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 20:52

Anyway, change subject. All dealt with .

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/11/2020 20:53

Sorry cross post on miliband.

So how did Corbyn get in or is he less union friendly?

TheHoneyBadger · 01/11/2020 20:56

pft owen jones thinks not being attracted to transmen is fine but lesbians not wanting penis in their beds is transphobic. I'm afraid his opinion is worth less than chip paper to me

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/11/2020 20:59

Is that on here or in RL Piggy? It isn't generally my experience off MN, and certainly this weekend most of the ones I know are shocked that schools are staying open and teachers are not being adequately protected.

There do appear to be a number of 'nurses' or 'people who know nurses' on MN who use it as a bit of one upmanship. Suspect some of these people might also 'know some teachers who just get on with it' and might also be the same people who were telling nursing staff to get over not having enough any PPE because it's what they signed up for.

That being said, nursing, like every other job is not without its fair share of arseholes.

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 20:59

Well, Corbyn didn't get in , did he? But his election to the leader certainly rocked the establishment!

As I may ahve mentioned my sister is trans so I don't want to get into that one honey, if that's OK.

CallmeAngelina · 01/11/2020 21:00

@Piggywaspushed: You have a TELLY?
And you WATCH it, instead of spending all Sunday evening planning?
Pfft. Call yourselves teachers?

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 21:00

Probably all true rafa. there is certainly lots of fake tweets going round Twitter today purporting to be NHS staff and clearly trolls and bots.

And don’t forget the wives of ITU consultants. Or is it just the one singular one that must post a lot?
NeurotrashWarrior · 01/11/2020 21:02

Jesus seen the thread; that's appalling. And so naive!

Many people seem to have some sort of deep childhood teacher hatred their projecting. They really should get counselling for it.

Good handling Piggy.

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/11/2020 21:06

True. Very interesting hearing what a milliband (ed? Not sure) thought of corbyn on any questions on Friday. (Not much!)

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 21:10

was it David, though??? They are veeeery different. Do you remember how much David sulked when his more geeky, less attractive brother beat him??

I have met Ed. It was not long after bacon sandwich gate. he was very polite and lovely and I nearly cried.

ChloeDecker · 01/11/2020 21:10

And here we were thinking it was just Primary school children who thought teachers ‘lived’ at school and had no other personal life Hmm
Creepy stalkers.

TheHoneyBadger · 01/11/2020 21:13

Nothing to get into I just find Jones a stunning hypocrite (on way more issues than trans ideology-that was the first that sprang to mind so apologies if it's sensitive ground).

I find there are many of these very vocal 'human' rights lefty types who manage to completely overlook women and women's issues. I find Jones a deeply self righteous navel gazing little boy. Clearly we don't have to agree on that.

ChloeDecker · 01/11/2020 21:13

I met David when he was schools minister and handed out certificates to some of my pupils who had won a competition. Always wondered what would have happened if he had won the leadership over his brother!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/11/2020 21:15

Mostly I think NHS staff would like something where bubbles wouldn't be at risk of keeping popping. I think a lot are quite low on AL after the past 6 months.

If they do close schools, if the gvt could not cut the funding for wrap around care, that would be appreciated. It shouldn't be up to teachers to volunteer to fill that gap, especially since many had worked over the Easter holiday and Summer half term.

TheHoneyBadger · 01/11/2020 21:16

I found Ed fairly likeable and authentic. I'm not sure what happened in politics at that point but in fighting in the left then and since certainly didn't do us any favours.

DreamingofBrie · 01/11/2020 21:16

@AllDoneIn

Very late to the party. So happy this thread is here. I feel totally deflated. High cases in our area, mumsnet full of teacher hatred. DH getting cross at me for getting upset at the teacher hatred ('Just stop bloody reading it!') I just never really understood the full depth of contempt people have for teachers. I don't want schools to close, my own DC love school. I just want them to be safer.
Welcome AllDoneIn! I feel exactly as you do (and my dh seems to be similarly bemused).
Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 21:19

Ah, but you see the infighting is a mirage created by The Establishment. Or something.

I grew up in Glasgow and may have owned a donkey jacket at one point...

I'm with you on LOJ, I think he's a misogynist. There's an amusing interview on Sky News (?) where he has a strop and stomps off the set somewhere, it'll be in FWR, I'll look for it Grin.
Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 21:21

I think that ahs always been an issue though honey. The overlooking of black women by other women is very interestingly looked at in Reni Eddo Lodges' book.

I read too much....

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 21:22

Whoops just occurred to me that Reading is A Hobby. How very remiss of me Grin

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 21:23

Most successful man do, sadly, seem to be misogynists.

Maybe it's just most men!

Oh my Lord, the Boys Don't Try bunch : puerile.

HeyBaby2020 · 01/11/2020 21:25

I also work in a school but will be unpopular on this thread because I disagree with the majority of posts Grin

MistressIggi · 01/11/2020 21:26
@SmileEachDay I have got my own risk assessment, in which I put that there isn’t the room to stay 2m away from the children. Their response is that I should make sure I’m following the schools extensive COVID guidance and use mini whiteboards and other marking methods 😬
If they cannot come up with a mitigation to alleviate your additional risk they need to solve that, they can't just pass it back to you - you could work at home for example. (As told to me by union)
