You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

It'll probably get accused of fearmongering, August.

plasticboxesrock · 01/11/2020 20:09

Appuskidu ECV people have to "take extra care". No shielding resumption. You can imagine how that goes down! Have had email from the head making sure I know I'm back in "with everyone else". Nice. DH might spontaneously combust if I tell him about that email so I won't!!

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 20:15

Waves at susan.

You are more than welcome to come over here and talk at me about my DH if you like rather than on other threads.

TIA.

I might get in touch with the union rep because they have changed my risk assessment from what I sent them

Do. Even if it’s just so you feel someone is on your side.

Come on, let's get the gin out and get pissed!

Up for that!! Let them eat cake!

Honestly, now's the time to only post here and any more distracting sensible or entertaining threads.

(Or FWR if you feel like being ranty!)

AllDoneIn · 01/11/2020 20:38

Very late to the party. So happy this thread is here. I feel totally deflated. High cases in our area, mumsnet full of teacher hatred. DH getting cross at me for getting upset at the teacher hatred ('Just stop bloody reading it!') I just never really understood the full depth of contempt people have for teachers. I don't want schools to close, my own DC love school. I just want them to be safer.

Appuskidu · 01/11/2020 20:40

If posters take information we’ve put on this staffroom thread and then post about it on a different thread, is that allowed?

Is that any different to us mentioning other threads on here which isn’t allowed?

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/11/2020 20:40

There probably will be school closures in some areas. Most likely secondary. I reckon the government wanted to wait till twitter burst several blood vessels on that one.

If they'd announced all the measures at once it would have been too much.

Rates among children and teens will be very interesting in the next few weeks.

I saw so many in the park hanging out in great crowds sharing suspicious bottles of cola etc. Whereas kids will have been apart, mostly. Especially in tier 2 and 3 areas.

Depends if it's for nefarious purposes....

Medra · 01/11/2020 20:42

@RigaBalsam I would put money on my Y9 class saying that next week. Despite the fact it’s assessment week in every bloody subject they do.

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 20:45

JOB and Owen Jones are both brilliant at showing how successive governments have positioned all politics to be anti union and how all parties have successively (since thatcher) broken the backs of the unions and stoked hatred effectively for the working class and public sector workers.

The thing that upsets me most, actually, is NHS workers seeking to divide and conquer. i won't have a bad word said against nursing. I am not sure why they are so anti us and would like JOB to investigate. Wouldn't say on any other thread but I suspect it may be some perception of their lower status in various pecking orders and a valid annoyance about pay and working conditions turned on fellow public sector workers : and we are the biggest and most obvious target. I ahve no desire at all to be a nurse, or give nursing a go. But I suspect many nurses would not like teaching much either.

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 20:46

No, it isn't allowed and I have reported.

Am fucking furious.

And that is actually quite rare for me.

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 20:47

Can I just edit that to post inaccurately?

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/11/2020 20:47

Even under Blair/new labour Piggy?

No, it jolly well shouldn't be allowed. Report. Or give us a hint where it is.
NeurotrashWarrior · 01/11/2020 20:49

I think we are getting watched.

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 20:49

Especially under Blair, sadly.

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/11/2020 20:50

*being watched. Terrible grammar.

monkeytennis97 · 01/11/2020 20:50

@Piggywaspushed oh sorry Piggy I've just quoted it and responded.

Appuskidu · 01/11/2020 20:50

It’s a #close the schools is trending.

We are definitely being watched. Just not fair.

TheHoneyBadger · 01/11/2020 20:50

Honestly it's a farce. The kids will know that too. I'm prepared for at least 5minutes per lesson tomorrow to be taken up with questions as to wtf we are in full time whilst the nation is told to lock down.

All these arsy parents don't seem to understand that their kids and us are kind of united in our understanding of what is happening in schools and how far from the standards for the rest of society we are.

They are fully aware they're there because their parents want them out of house or their parents are afraid of being fined etc.

The latest decisions seem to be about pandering to middle class parents who couldn't possibly do their work from home role if they had to have kids around the house. Presumably a good chunk of tory voters who can't quite afford private schools but are aspiringly absent enough to vote tory.

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 20:51

Owen Jones is a big fan of Ed Miliband and seems to think the establishment got him out because he had views on unions and taxation that were not supportive enough to ne liberal, free market capitalism values.

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/11/2020 20:51

Wow really Piggy?! how did that happen?!
