You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

From her liv8ng room I assume.

ohthegoats · 01/11/2020 16:01

Some bloke on Twitter gave me a lecture on the morality of teachers going back. His bio said ex Mcdonalds and PWC. Not sure his opinion is valid.

CallmeAngelina · 01/11/2020 16:14

I caught a bit of David Lammie's show on LBC yesterday afternoon as I was driving.
Bloody hell - what a rant! Quickly scrolled on through the channels.

monkeytennis97 · 01/11/2020 16:19

Just written to my MP.. for all the good it will do. True Blue😢

Re LBC I've listened since the early 80s! James O'Brien great, Clive Bull, Steve Allen occasionally and Nick Abbot, Shelagh Fogarty and Eddie Mair- the rest (particularly Nick Ferrari who I have met a number of times) can do one!

Majiid is a whole new level. His argument with a professor yesterday from iSage was horrendous.

Three consecutive emails from year 12s who are SI.

Everything's fiiiiiiine.

MrsHamlet · 01/11/2020 16:41

I've just resent the teams guide to (I think) everyone who asked for it. There's also some stuff about marking in word and recording with a visualiser - it's basically everything we discovered in lockdown!
If anyone else would like a copy, please message me your email address.

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 16:41

Oh that one goats ! The Tory councillor. I don't get how people in political positions are allowed to be so outspoken and goady tbh. We aren't! Nor are BBC staff.

CallmeAngelina · 01/11/2020 16:48

Thanks, @MrsHamlet.

God, these boards today! Think I will hide in here for while.

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/11/2020 16:49

That's really good news nobel.

Piggywaspushed · 01/11/2020 16:53

Even squabbling on staffroom Sad

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/11/2020 16:53

@MrsHamlet you legend thank you!

Have also written to my MP, thanks @noblegiraffe as I used some parts of yours in mine.

Agree with lots of you saying that the students aren't working enough independently. We've offered streaming some lessons to those at home - barely any students have taken it up. My Y11 class, who are always upset about their grades/situation have very few of them done any of the loads of extra stuff I organised and made available for them at half term. FFS.

Appuskidu · 01/11/2020 16:58

Are we awaiting any new guidance re schools in this new ‘lockdown’ or did I imagine reading that there would be some?

Danglingmod · 01/11/2020 17:00

The last lot only came out on the Thursday before half term...

But, yes, the wording in the new lockdown guidance about "if not remote" or something suggests maybe more to come...

MrsHamlet · 01/11/2020 17:03

17 out of 32 in my top set 11 did their homework over half term. 3/22 in my mixed ability. And 6/11 in year 12.
Am I going to bust a gut to offer revision/booster/catch up? Nope.

SansaSnark · 01/11/2020 17:39

I've also written to my MP, but she's a back bench Tory who doesn't think for herself, so I'm not sure what good it will do!

I did highlight that current DfE suggestions, like staying 2m from the class at all times are impossible in many classrooms.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/11/2020 17:59

Mine's one of the new bunch of Tory MP's. Evidence so far suggests he's of the toe the party line variety. Tweets what he's told to, votes how he's told to. I'll write but I don't see it making much difference.

MrsHamlet · 01/11/2020 18:16

My MP is labour and a good 'un. School MP is a true blue Tory who barely knows where his constituency is, let alone has the first clue about what it's like there. They voted out labour over trident 🤷‍♀️

ChloeDecker · 01/11/2020 18:35

I actually teach the child of an MP (who voted against free school meals if you can believe it!) so I don’t hold out much hope there. Always votes with the party line. Never deviates sadly (or checks if their child has done any work but there you go!)

MrsHamlet · 01/11/2020 18:40

There's no bloody hope, Chloe
You've reminded me that I taught the daughter of someone who went on to be big in their party. He wasn't a colossal prat - one of very few I fear.

WhyNotMe40 · 01/11/2020 18:46

The hatred for teachers on some threads at the moment...Sad

Medra · 01/11/2020 18:46

@MrsHamlet I made sure I set loads for my top set Y11 to do over half-term, bearing in mind they have mocks coming up. Still less than 50% have even started it. I’m going to be pointing that out when I’m asked to do after school sessions for them.

MrsHamlet · 01/11/2020 18:51

Medra one of them has JUST messaged me on teams to ask if they have a test next week.
It's in their planner.
It's in their outlook calendar.
It's on Teams. In three places.
PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE!!!!

Then you will start the test and one person will say 'Miss you didn't say there was a test' Grin
