You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Oh monkey I'm so sorry. Sending you many hugs and thoughts to help you and your family get through this as much as you possibly can. 💐💐💐

Piggywaspushed · 31/10/2020 20:30

LOL august, we have drawn the line at parents' evening...

monkey , that's very sad and tough for you.

Medra · 31/10/2020 20:30

Sorry everyone’s feeling so shit and hugs to you @monkeytennis97 - I can’t imagine how you must be feeling.
I’m wondering if our head will stop giving us the crap line that transmission can’t have happened in school.

Danglingmod · 31/10/2020 20:31

Shit. Yeah. It's resignation day again.

So angry that the May one passed before some big changes to the guidance came out.

I seriously considered it this time as dh is so much at risk from this.... But, he also has quite a short life span anyway and, being brutally honest, I'll need my salary and my pension contributions when he dies.

Flowers for Monkeytennis and anyone else who needs it.

echt · 31/10/2020 20:32

monkeytennis, Thanks and an antipodean hug from me.

RigaBalsam · 31/10/2020 20:35

Hugs monkey. ThanksThanks

starrynight19 · 31/10/2020 20:36

monkeytennis I am sat here crying at your post. Why should we put up with not even seeing our own children because of all this , so sorry it’s all so shit for you right now Sad

noblegiraffe · 31/10/2020 20:38

When will you next see him, monkey? Does the lockdown mean you can’t visit till December or does it come under care?

Loshad · 31/10/2020 20:39

Hugs @monkeytennis97, so sad for you, and your ds

monkeytennis97 · 31/10/2020 20:39

@motherrunner I have sent you a PM Thanks

GravityFalls · 31/10/2020 20:39

I feel so down about being treated as a worker drone - get up, do the school run, drive to work, then do it all in reverse, and that’s it. No nipping round the shops after work every now and then, no drive through McD’s on the way in for the odd treat, no pub with DP and the kids on a Friday. Just a cold, dark, utilitarian life. It fucking sucks. At least the first time there was time together, no commute, saving some money on childcare and so on. This time I have all of the shit things about work and no mitigations.

I hate it, and I’m angry.

SaltyAndFresh · 31/10/2020 20:41

@monkeytennis97, would you be allowed to see him if it weren't for school? If so, please just get yourself signed off. No-one should be expected to live like that.

Piggywaspushed · 31/10/2020 20:41

I finished 1984 today. Wasn't the most uplifting choice of half term reading but apt.

monkeytennis97 · 31/10/2020 20:42

Not sure at the moment. They are isolating at the moment as a carer tested positive but his test has come back negative. Thankfully. Will send you a PM.
monkeytennis97 · 31/10/2020 20:44

@SaltyAndFresh no I don't think it's anything to do with school it's just that the visiting rules to care homes may change before his isolation (as a carer tested positive) has ended.

ohthegoats · 31/10/2020 20:47

I've just written to my MP with the charts of school infection rates, and asked why I'm expendable.

GravityFalls · 31/10/2020 20:48

And I’m sorry too, monkeytennis. It just be so hard for you to bear, especially when he can’t understand it.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 31/10/2020 20:48

hugs monkey. Flowers. It must be so tough.

Keep posting and venting on here when you need to.

Yes this in a nutshell Sad

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/10/2020 20:49

Oh motherunner and monkey I'm so sorry. Thanks

I know this seems futile as most things are empty promises but the local
Council are considering using those rapid tests to enable people to visit care homes etc.

Is there any way you could contact anyone at the local council to see if that's going to be a possibility?

(I heard/ read about it in a report about the moonshot idea with rapid tests and that councils have been offered this option but many have turned it down for various reasons, but thought of where they might use them, ours
considering the above.)

Piggywaspushed · 31/10/2020 20:49

I predict this week Trump will win in the US and I will ahve to hide all my BIL's posts just to add to the rosy nature of the thread...

monkeytennis97 · 31/10/2020 20:51

@ohthegoats if possible could you PM me a copy of that so I can send it to my mp too? That would be great. Thank youThanks

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/10/2020 20:51

Ah for fecks sake.

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/10/2020 20:53

(Re trump)

Honestly, this time last year we thought brexit and trump was the epitome of shiteness; now we have them and this and ducking lockdown and being treated as expendable.

monkeytennis97 · 31/10/2020 20:54

@NeurotrashWarrior thank you. I doubt it will happen for his care home as it will probably happen in the elderly sector understandably with the added age risk (although the huge increase in learning disabled deaths in Covid is too frightening to contemplate).

You are all amazing in your support, thank you all x
