Just in case she got lucky and is in the one school that still goes to the pub.

Apparently St Pancras is busy with people trying to leave London. Not sure how true.

DecemberStar · 19/12/2020 20:47

It wouldn't surprise me.

@DecemberStar
I’m normally just borntobequiet and I post occasionally on Staffroom threads with random thoughts. I retired from Secondary (at 60, so I served my time) - I have now taught for an additional 7 years in FE, which has given me a different perspective. The situation in FE is worrying - day release, block release and part time learners in and out all the time from different workplaces (including high risk ones). But having said that, I really wouldn’t want to be back in school (especially at my age).

Gav has written to headteachers and union leaders TONIGHT and would like them to reply by Monday!

twitter.com/lewis_goodall/status/1340395420686663684

He mentions an additional INSET day to prep for remote learning and testing. What? Was that yesterday? No one knew that was what that was for?? Plus we didn't have INSET...

bornatXmastobequiet · 19/12/2020 20:58
I got a train from Paddington the weekend before the March lockdown and it was like that.
starrynight19 · 19/12/2020 20:58

piggyinblankets wow so they actually already know January is going to be a screw up. Great time to introduce the first of its kind ‘testing instead of isolating’ Hmm

TheHoneyBadger · 19/12/2020 20:58

Think he just means one less teaching day has to be provided.

So one day and £0 to set up testing centres for the largest scale testing event this nation has ever seen. We should all bill serco for our overtime

Interesting thought along the two birds with one stone line - we could train the kw kids and vulnerables to man the testing stations seeing as they'll be in school anyway.

Who needs Kevin's Mum when Kevin can do it and doesn't need a DBS to do so.

Hugs to everyone who needs them. It sounds like a lot of people need them today. I hope you get to see DS soon Knowing.

Re: the virus being more transmissible in children because schools were open and everything else shut, I don’t know. Maybe or maybe just chance.

Where I think it might have been preventable was in not controlling the virus this autumn/winter. If that firebreak had happened when it was recommended there would have been less chance of this happening.

So he says there'll be "revised" guidance on Monday. But it doesn't sound like there'll be any radical changes!

And mentions that the resit results have just come out. Really? Seems very quick?

FiggyPuddingFiend · 19/12/2020 21:14
Well it's definitely st páncreas and it's definitely filmed during the pandemic as they are all wearing masks. Not sure at what other point it'd be so busy...

Resit results are out, the election map Twitter person posted their A level results earlier in the week.
CountDuckulasCranberrySauce · 19/12/2020 21:22

adult Dd who hates science and hasn't done it for years just screamed natural selection innit at me when I was discussing the new strain being more transmissible in kids. It makes perfect sense unfortunately.

SaltyAF · 19/12/2020 21:41

I was still.markomg resists on 10th December. If they're out, the benchmarking process hasn't been done properly.

KnowingMeKnowingYule · 19/12/2020 21:41

Anyone pissed yet cos we are in this house. Ducking tier 4.

I thought ours were due out much later than this...
DecemberStar · 19/12/2020 21:48

Would it be quite childish of me to message No 10 and point out a lie on its website?

It gives the transcript of BJ's statement, saying that it's "exactly as delivered". It isn't. They've corrected "31 January" (what he said, but of course we all knew what he meant, as was in context of New Year's Eve) to 31 December!

Little pleasures.....

SaltyAF · 19/12/2020 21:48

Was he just referring to A levels then? Or just talking unmitigated shit as usual?

noelgiraffe · 19/12/2020 21:53

Who reads this story and thinks a certain repeatedly banned poster wasn’t the talented individual they had hoped for?

It’s worth following this head on Twitter-she is watching the testing in schools webinar now and posting updates as she goes

Piggyinblankets · 23/12/2020 14:30

It seems they are determined to plough on with this unreliable, dangerous crap.

I was reading the guidance and note that it still says older pupils should distance form each other and not touch each other. Does anyone work in a school where this is actually adhered to??

KnowingMeKnowingYule · 23/12/2020 14:31
