You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on

Apologies, I now can't find anything about Scotland and shielding, was sure I read something about it earlier, but maybe I misread on the way out of school.

EducatingArti · 22/09/2020 18:03

A primary school near me has had to close completely because there are now only 2 teachers available at school.

DreamingofBrie · 22/09/2020 18:09

@colourofblue

OH is a star. We’ve had a long heart to heart and decided I’m starting maternity leave rather than go back. Feel like the biggest weight has been lifted.
Take good care of yourself, Blue!
ohthegoats · 22/09/2020 18:13

We had 8 staff off today. Not teachers, but support. Any hard-work child, was really fucking hard work today.

DollyMixtureLulus · 22/09/2020 18:16

Any hard-work child, was really fucking hard work today.

Yup. That sums up today.

Mine just will not listen until you are an utter bitch, then they sulk or cry. I've already asked nicely 5 times, praised, rewarded, but it's never enough. Fed up.

motherrunner · 22/09/2020 18:23

Learned today that the head of my old school has tested positive. No-one else isolating apparently.

Feeling like the worst parent in the world. Just told DD that she can’t go to a birthday party this weekend at a trampolining park. It hasn’t been cancelled as it classes as a ‘sport’ but we’re in local lockdown, I don’t know a school not affected. Feel like crap.

Piggywaspushed · 22/09/2020 18:30

Someone tried to pull that 'it's a sport' thing on my friend to avoid giving her a refund. It isn't when they are having cake and stuff...

starrynight19 · 22/09/2020 18:31

So sorry to hear so many of you aren’t feeling well. The news about 3 positive cases before a bubble
closes in France just makes me want to weep.
We are going to be made to do this to the bitter end aren’t we Sad

motherrunner · 22/09/2020 18:34

@Piggywaspushed That bit has been cancelled and I can see the parent’s point that they’re in a class bubble together but I just can’t see how SD is possible. I’m probably being over anxious with all the X codes on the register.

motherrunner · 22/09/2020 18:35

@starrynight19 I read that about France and my heart sank.

Keepdistance · 22/09/2020 19:02

Brutus post saying 87 positive at u of liverpool.
That would be 2% of a day total by itself.

FrippEnos · 22/09/2020 19:05

The numbers that are being ignored are depressing

CallmeAngelina · 22/09/2020 19:16

Anyone know how many schools have sent whole bubbles home now? Last I heard it was around 1400, but I presume some of those are now back in?
Zilch making the news bulletins though. It's as if we don't exist.

RigaBalsam · 22/09/2020 19:38

The Brutus map is missing off the two years closed at my husband's school.

Meanwhile bubbles haven't pooped at mine only a few close contacts are isolating.

monkeytennis97 · 22/09/2020 19:43

DS's school now has a case-staff member. Will check Brtus but doubt it's on there. Very worrying with the vulnerable children that are there (as well as staff). This is awful. He is not in the effected bubble.

WhyNotMe40 · 22/09/2020 19:53

Can someone link the brtus map please?
I know of 2 schools that have sent bubbles home recently, but they haven't made the local news - wondering if they are on the map.

ohthegoats · 22/09/2020 19:54

Family member who works for the BBC (local) says that they are announcing every closure, so it's only at a national level they are being ignored. Weird. Well, not weird..

noblegiraffe · 22/09/2020 19:56

Good news, colour, I bet that's a relief. You shouldn't have to, but sometimes you have to do what's right for you.

monkeytennis97 · 22/09/2020 19:58

Just checked DS's school is not on it.

WhyNotMe40 · 22/09/2020 19:58

I found the map. Both schools not on there.
I have also double checked and they have not been reported on the BBC local news either.

Piggywaspushed · 22/09/2020 20:00

You have to inform them with evidence for map. They haven't added my two reports.

Piggywaspushed · 22/09/2020 20:01

Fuck off with your fist shaking, Boris.

Piggywaspushed · 22/09/2020 20:09

Using us as a threat there. Keeping it classy.

noblegiraffe · 22/09/2020 20:10

Boris saying that our cases are so high because as a country we like our freedom, and not because he is completely incompetent has really pissed me off.

We were overly compliant at the start. He really fucked things up.
