You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on

We had 90 absent out of 900 ish today but only 25 on x code. The rest just vague ill, probably because parents don't want to admit to symptoms as they know they'll have to isolate!

Augustbreeze · 21/09/2020 19:43

Those of us on BRTUS - just wait until they get wind of that French change, they will literally implode!

Actually I have to say, a few of the posters on there are really well informed and I've found out useful stuff from there. Many not so well informed, but I understand most of their anxiety.

ohthegoats · 21/09/2020 19:47

Watched one for the first time.....

Yerp Hmm

I liked the EY stuff for my child, but they don't suit my class.

MsAwesomeDragon · 21/09/2020 19:47

Bus duty staff had a bit of a run in with the health and safety officer in school today. She's making all staff on bus duty wear high vis jackets, which is normal protocol, BUT staff don't want to wear a jacket that someone else was wearing the day before, because covid and quarantine. The head had to get involved, and basically said "why are we even discussing this? Buy enough that they can be quarantined for 72 hours between uses".

MrsHamlet · 21/09/2020 19:51

We've spent £30k so far on wipes / sanitiser / toilets / sinks. How the hell do we come back from that???
One child has now tested positive 3 times... so much for them not getting it!

Keepdistance · 21/09/2020 19:52

Whole school closure

Appuskidu · 21/09/2020 19:52

How do we let the BRTUS people know about positive cases in school? I’m not v good with Twitter!

Keepdistance · 21/09/2020 20:02

Are you on the fb group?
Ive been putting comments on the map when they seem to do it daily.
I think threres a google form but i dont have that.
They seem a bit behind.
Just looked at the france version and it's everywhere the schools
Imo the strategy is to infect the kids. So we may see the other restictions to maybe stop teachers and parents givng it to anyone else.
Ive also messaged the county paper with a few.

Danglingmod · 21/09/2020 20:03

When you read the most dumb witted comments on your local news sites (like "please don't get tested, people, just keep quiet if you've got it, because if the govt don't know it's spreading they can't lock us up again..." and then realise they could well be parents at your school...

Keepdistance · 21/09/2020 20:07

Yes my friend said other parents were refusing to wear masks to the drop off.
So im thinking they wont be wearing them elsewhere then
People wanted the schools open but refuse to change their behaviour

SaltyAndFresh · 21/09/2020 20:12

We live in such a selfish, hostile society. It's really depressing (re the FB comments).

Danglingmod · 21/09/2020 20:15

Oh, I mean I knew parents were sending their kids in with symptoms and refusing to get them tested but reading the batshit crazy deniers talking absolutely moronic nonsense was next level.

SaltyAndFresh · 21/09/2020 20:16

Current temperature Confused (yes I am in bed). Any guesses what's wrong with me if I'm Covid negative? Hot, coughing, shivery, bunged up, sore throat and a bit of a dodgy stomach.

SaltyAndFresh · 21/09/2020 20:16

That was supposed to be 38.7.

Piggywaspushed · 21/09/2020 20:18

Flu?

Piggywaspushed · 21/09/2020 20:19

Keep they will only add if you do the form. But they haven't twigged teachers might be able to report unannounced cases and there is no facility to do this if there is no url link or picture..

SaltyAndFresh · 21/09/2020 20:20

Flu, another one to look forward to this winter. I had it when I was 17. Yuck.

Piggywaspushed · 21/09/2020 20:21

All of our absences say in the notes :

stinking cold NOT COVID

Wtf? Three times,?! Do you think it's genuine or been used as an excuse?
Piggywaspushed · 21/09/2020 20:22

I had swine flue back when that was A Thing.

Oh my good Lord. Never known anything like it.

Piggywaspushed · 21/09/2020 20:22

flu!

Oh poor you. Did it come on suddenly over a couple of hours? Every time I've had flu I've been fine in the morning, and shivering and coughing in bed by evening. Have you had a test?
Danglingmod · 21/09/2020 20:24

Lots on ours just say "sniffles"... As if in normal times a parent would minimise symptoms this much Grin

MrsHamlet · 21/09/2020 20:25

Genuine I think. She's in year 12. There are some major local employers where distancing is problematic who were badly hit early on and I wonder whether that's the source. Poor kid.
And poor Salty. I hope it's flu!
