You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on

How do I have a socially distanced conversation in class with another adult without all the children hearing? Of course we have to get close to each other.

starrynight19 · 15/09/2020 22:29

The letter is on the school webpage so I should fully expect it to go viral.
I honestly wonder how much more blame we can take.

ohthegoats · 15/09/2020 22:30

Teachers will be blamed for getting ill

I mean, to be fair - he can't prove that they all got it from the event. Might have been one super-spreader who caught it and took it back to school. The fact that at least three almost definitely caught it at school due to 'close proximity' means that the school isn't as 'robust' as he thinks.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 15/09/2020 22:34

A HT who does that loses the goodwill and respect of the staff.

Too late now the letter is on the web site.

But the letter says the teachers didn't break any rules.

So what's the problem? They were unlucky.

CallmeAngelina · 15/09/2020 22:40

And yet, he has written himself that the teachers weren't breaking any of the guidelines "at the time."
So, where's the crime, then?

CallmeAngelina · 15/09/2020 22:44

X post.
Plus, he mentions something about parents not blaming the innocent teachers who were not at the party, but who have caught it since.
The insinuation that the perfectly legal party attendees can be blamed!

Just had a thought; this could almost be our friendly poster's husband (fishy something) who makes his staff clean loos and cook and serve all the kids' lunches in their non-existent lunch hour.

WhenSheWasBad · 15/09/2020 22:44

Hahahaaha... I can't think for a moment why the head himself wasn't invited total bellend

This was my second thought. The first was WTAF.

I have actually cancelled meeting up with friends this weekend. Mainly, if I have to isolate it would be embarrassing to say it’s because I was in a pub.

It’s just wrong, we shouldn’t be held to such high standards. We do have lives outside school.

RobertsUncle · 15/09/2020 22:45

Shocking letter. Constructive dismissal? Breach of confidence/ data protection?

ohthegoats · 15/09/2020 22:45

I have also apologised to colleagues who did not attend, especially those who caught the virus

What for? Not being popular enough to be invited to a party? On behalf of the government for not being funded well enough to protect staff properly? On behalf of the virus for just wanting to find another host?

ohthegoats · 15/09/2020 22:46

Honestly, that head is just a bad head. He'll get hounded out now I expect, so should probably feel sorry for him and his bellend-ry.

noblegiraffe · 15/09/2020 22:48

What is clear from the letter is that the person very much not to blame for the outbreak is the sainted Head.

HedyPrism · 15/09/2020 22:49

Wow that letter! So condescending.

Sureitwillbegrand · 15/09/2020 22:52

Wow, that letter is a spectacular fail, no words...

Hercwasonaroll · 15/09/2020 22:53

That letter 😯😯😯😯

cheesecurdsandgravy · 15/09/2020 22:57

Starry that letter is awful, even worse than that studios head who went on national radio and said that her staff were deliberately keeping the school closed. What a prick. I hope they all resign.

I had to leave work early today as I appear to have picked D&V up from someone. Despite the mask and the hand washing. I feel grim. No CV symptoms though, so, yay.

Before I left I had a realisation. The way my timetable falls I only teach KS3 at the beginning of the week. The only class with noticeable absence was Y8 & Y9 bottom set (1/3 of the class)... any one else noticed this anomaly? Grin

noblegiraffe · 15/09/2020 23:03

1000 votes on my thread in an evening, people are not happy. Weirdly the split is the same as it was on my 'govt doesn't give a shit about schools' thread.

Slight niggle in that the percentages don't add up!

And yes, I was refreshing till it hit 1000.... I'm v cool.

I've just a post on twitter from a deputy head saying that one local authority is advising schools not to pay staff if they have to isolate awaiting a test and to only pay them if they test positive.

What the actual fuck?

SuitedandBootedbutNowheretoGo · 15/09/2020 23:32

Holy inquisition Batman! That letter posted on Bacup Holy Trinity Stacksteads C.E. Primary is unbelievable. Shock
How on earth does Mr J. Aspin think that makes him come across?
What's he going to do next - make them all write lines?!

Iamnotthe1 · 15/09/2020 23:36

That letter is exactly what we said would happen as soon as all that "teachers being extra vigilant" messaging started. I'm just surprised it's the head saying it and not Gav or Matt.

echt · 16/09/2020 05:00

One for the union. I would think they can't be denied pay they are not electing to stay off work, but effectively being kept out.

Anyhoo: no pay = no cover set.

That will cause a swift re-assessment of the situation.Hmm

SleepymummyZzz · 16/09/2020 05:51

That letter 🤬🤬🤬 Sod resigning they should all go off with work related stress and claim constructive dismissal.

SleepymummyZzz · 16/09/2020 05:56

So as part of my CEV individual risk assessment I should be told if there are suspected cases of Covid in school. Just found out today the head has not been telling me as there are so many apparently I’d never be here. This is the same Head that is now telling parents children can return after seventy two hours if they think their cough is cold related and not Covid. No test needed. Last time I checked most parents in my school weren’t medical professionals. FML

motherrunner · 16/09/2020 06:16

Checking in 👋 Too shocked to write anything after reading that letter 😮

SaltyAndFresh · 16/09/2020 06:22

If staff aren't going to paid to SI then they won't be able to SI, meaning Boone will go off and get the tests that are unavailable for us anyway. The time for strike action is almost upon us surely. I mean public opinion couldn't get much lower, and that fucking letter won't help. I've a mind to email that school.
