You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on

Sorry to hear that too motherunner.

I can't work out how it'll be much different for most. Though I'm sad not to be able meet mums of toddlers in the park.

The problem is, if we go to the park or a field etc we will see my eldest's mates from school. It's going to be shit saying no you can't play with them :( which is just running around and climbing trees or football.

Ds1 is really glad to be going to after school club /child care so he can just play with his mates. Year group bubbles.

Do share some gems, Honey. I could do with a chuckle.

NeurotrashWarrior · 16/09/2020 20:07

Hope you're ok @phlebasconsidered?

EducatingArti · 16/09/2020 20:08

The only thing that has really been working to reduce cases in GM is in Oldham where volunteers have literally been pounding the streets and knocking on doors with advice and information and offering tests there and then.
Andy Burnham is trying to get other council's doing similar and coordinating a more local response as the government approach is just not working.

@starrynight19

So the school closed and the head sent this Shock
That is just dreadful!
DollyMixtureLulus · 16/09/2020 20:13

We are technically 'under restrictions' but very few people are bothering imo.

Until the pubs and shops are shut, no one is going to restrict social visiting.

I am usually such a rule follower but even I am fed up of it.

CallmeAngelina · 16/09/2020 20:41

I'm just nodding and smiling and carrying on doing my job and mixing socially in a quite limited and sensible way until someone tells me things have altered.
I'm tired of second-guessing and attempting to analyse what the hell the guys (supposedly) in charge are doing.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 16/09/2020 20:41

Article today in the Times saying that Heads have been asking lawyers if staff members can be banned from going abroad at half term and whether or not we are paid if we then end up in quarantine.

Another of the primaries in our feeder school cluster has closed a yeargroup.

We are beginning to be one of only a few left who haven't yet.

GuyFawkesDay · 16/09/2020 20:46

Blimey Starry, that HT really doesn't want his staff to work hard for him ever again, does he? What a grade A twat move.

Grateful i have a sensible SLT!!

CallmeAngelina · 16/09/2020 20:48

Banned?! What are we, inferior citizens? If everyone is "banned," then that's one thing. I really can't see how they can forbid one profession from a course of action in their private time.
Being paid to isolate afterwards is a different matter, but then the same must apply to everyone.
After all, as we've been told all summer, why should teachers be treated as special cases?

Appuskidu · 16/09/2020 20:49

I can’t believe that head’s letter isn’t all over Twitter!

CallmeAngelina · 16/09/2020 20:51

There'd probably be a posse on there that would think he was in the right.

Piggywaspushed · 16/09/2020 20:52

I have to say though...it is really bothering me at school that staff aren't socially distancing.

Yes me too.

I'm intending on planning a shoe buying trip to Amsterdam at half term and will hopefully meet my sister there. What a bad ass! I'll wrap myself in hazard tape and take a mini whiteboard with an objective on it... they'll keep us safe.

NeurotrashWarrior · 16/09/2020 21:02

Yes,as you all said,

Wow that letter!

noblegiraffe · 16/09/2020 21:03

shoe buying trip to Amsterdam

Clogs?

DollyMixtureLulus · 16/09/2020 21:05

What sort of shoes do you buy in Amsterdam?

MrsHamlet · 16/09/2020 21:08

Canadian ones 😂

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 16/09/2020 21:09

Can I just ask, those of you that have pupils that take public buses home, do they know they are supposed to wear masks, on the bus? And have the school given them that info. I appreciate that knowing and doing are not the same thing.

Twice today I've been on a bus when groups of kids have got on and then just sat down and taken their mask off. They aren't the only people who do this tbf, but in the second case they talked about it and then decided they only needed then on if they were moving about not if they were sat down. Not surprising really, given the masks in corridors but not in classrooms bollocks.

Frlrlrubert · 16/09/2020 21:09

Graphs? Honey Graphs?

Bane of my bloody life. So stressful. I still have year 10s that can't get to grips with the fact that the scale needs to be consistent as you go along an axis.

MrsHamlet · 16/09/2020 21:12

Rafals yes they do. SLT get on the buses and nag them into wearing them but we've had complaints from other passengers. We can force them at our end but unless SLT go home with them, we're jiggered.
I did bark at some kids at the station last week - interesting side effect was a grown up putting his on 😂

starrynight19 · 16/09/2020 21:30

Mrs Hamlet good planning that Grin
