You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

A lovely poster starts a thread in support of us and what happens? Pile on.

So many bastards on MN.

?? Which one
Piggywaspushed · 29/08/2020 09:38

Thank you notDonna. It is so disheartening. I am aware some parents do hate us as a 'blob'. But they don't ever say it out load. MN allows us to hear it. Over and over and over again.

AIBU ickabog. Is trending.

Coronavirus: Secondary schools to move to rota system if virus cases rise

This is my nightmare. Really not sure how I’m going to find the time to teach the kids 15 in front of me and find time to teach online to the other 15.
Oh fuck.

Found it. How depressing that it only took until the second post for the nasty comments to start. Sad
Piggywaspushed · 29/08/2020 09:43

Yeah, and we already have the 'NHS workers', the 'my sister is a lazyarse teacher' and 'whatabout the police'' brigade.

Piggywaspushed · 29/08/2020 09:44

I honestly feel like saying to one of these 'NHS workers','your medal is in the post'. But that would be insensitive.

Piggywaspushed · 29/08/2020 09:48

Someone on the other thread has spotted a change in ages on the new guidance, saying something about 'up to 19', presumably off the back of that report that says children are 'vanishingly unlikely' to die.

phlebasconsidered · 29/08/2020 09:48

She's recovered now, just left with fatigue. Nephew is also recovered but it left him with worsened asthma and there's some concern about heart palpitations. Her other two were fine. They had it in April.

There's so much we don't know. A 15 year old in my village has been left with hypertension and heart issues from it.

I just don't believe anything that anyone "in charge" says now!

Appuskidu · 29/08/2020 09:59

Has anything changed in the guidance about not being able to ask parents for proof of a negative test before allowing them back?

Your poor nephew and sister SadFlowers I’m honestly furious when I hear anyone (on mn or a doctor/epidemiologist) say that kids can’t catch it or there’s zero risk to kids.

I’ve banged on about it enough on lots of threads Blush but ds (11) caught covid back in March and is still ill now, 5 months later (fatigue and recurrent infections and pain).

I’m sure he’s statistically unusual, but kids can catch it and it is not zero risk.

The U4T hypocrites/kids must return to school at all costs lot clearly don’t give a shit about kids like my DS or kids who are similarly affected now or in the future who may not be able to return to school full time because their bodies won’t cope with it.

Aah rant over.

ineedaholidaynow · 29/08/2020 10:09

@Appuskidu no that is still the same

A lot of the guidance seems to rely on people having a positive test and being able to return to school 10/14 days later. This assumes they are absolutely fine and will be fighting fit and raring to go!

What if we get it and are quite unwell?! In hospital? With lasting problems?

I'm hiding here as I have the absolute rage about that thread. Think two posts in set the tone of it. Not good for my blood pressure at all.
noblegiraffe · 29/08/2020 10:16

Schools refusing to admit kids while being unable to request evidence of a negative test is going to go down well isn't it?

Why the fuck would they put that kind of medical gate keeping on teachers?

minisoksmakehardwork · 29/08/2020 10:20

@Ickabog - took screenshots. Am working out how to expose this without blowing my cover so I can continue to monitor the stupidity.

noblegiraffe · 29/08/2020 10:23

Can't you just crop/edit the screenshots to remove any names, mini?

If I get it I won't return until I feel well. There are plenty of threads on here about the lasting effects on people who haven't been hospitalised. I'm going to take advantage of one of the only benefits we have, and that's paid sick leave.

I thought MNQT made it come out of Active as well-like the Academics board!

Agreed. Every day there's a new wave of posts bashing teachers and spewing vile accusations and untruths. I can't see it ending any time soon, heck with all schools going back I expect it will get much worse. I wish MNHQ would realise how this will affect school staff. Sad
