You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

It’s worth double checking the figures too.

Yesterday they said that they rise was about 110 or so but the difference between the total number of deaths from the previous day was actually 300 odd. They said that they didn’t count some of those because of reasons.

Danglingmod · 02/06/2020 17:47

Yes, that was well sketchy (as the kids would say).

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2020 17:51

I know that is true about the added numbers. That is why they have always told us to look only at the 7 day rolling average. Which has gone to shit ! So now also to be ignored.

Asuitablecat · 02/06/2020 17:59

They're totally taking Animal Farm off the syllabus after thisGrin

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2020 18:10

Never been so apt since Communism, has it!!?

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2020 18:21

Hahahahahaha. I am OK just coming here to laugh at a Gallic marine animals pay plans!!

Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 02/06/2020 18:22

Dare I ask which holiday thread you are discussing? Ignored my daughter's excellent advice and popped over for aibu/corona for a looksee but couldn't see anything obvious?

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2020 18:23

In chat.

Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 02/06/2020 18:27

Thanks Piggy, will take a gander and then take the scolding from the much wiser than me offspring.

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2020 18:29

It might just make you laugh.

Mistressiggi · 02/06/2020 18:31

You have to laugh or you'd cry.

Danglingmod · 02/06/2020 18:36

Seriously, though. We do need to stop going over there.

I'd really much rather not get paid now until September than be working at least 1.5 x my normal hours, get RSI from it being 100% computer based, plus headaches and eyestrain from above, be constantly thinking about work 24/7 (how to improve and adapt) - even more than normal - have to be back on the rota for KW children despite my dh being shielded...and now take this shit online?

Nah, I'd rather have three months' unpaid leave (and I'd still respond to emails from the kids telling me what they're up to, thanking me for rewards I've sent home or telling me that they appreciate the feedback I've sent or just saying "hope you had a nice weekend, Miss!"

Asuitablecat · 02/06/2020 19:01

Definitely a marine troll. The pay bit just jumped the shark.

Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 02/06/2020 19:14

You're right piggy, it did make me laugh Smile

Aren't whole class detentions hated on mumsnet? (and rightly so)

But now they're basically arguing that we should all suffer the equivalent.

FlamingoAndJohn · 02/06/2020 19:19

Not to mention the people who refuse to understand teacher’s pay.
Even though their husband was a teacher and they worked in finance.

Mistressiggi · 02/06/2020 19:32

Honestly I'd pay any of you double if you'd teach my children right now.
Maybe we could do swaps - I teach yours and you do mine?

TheHoneyBadger · 02/06/2020 19:44

I am steering well clear.

Ds has finished reading Animal Farm and we did the first lessons work today which was finding the meaning of words like allegory, autonomy, totalitarianism and propaganda and there’s another column for adding examples from the text which they’re meant to fill in as they read but we filled in as we’ve read it already. Given she’s had no work from ds so far I think she’ll be shocked with the level of engagement. Such a good time to be studying this. Squealer would have fitted right in to Tory crew.

We’ve lived under theocracy, a dictatorship and democracy so lots of real life connections to engage with. Hmm maybe parents should be made to travel and take their children around the world in exchange for wanting us to go work in the “real world” periodically.

Back to maths tomorrow sadly.

SallyLovesCheese · 02/06/2020 19:48

Ah, Gallic marine animal... I had a genuine laugh about their pay plan, there. Far from stressing me, it's actually really cheered me! I love nurses and know my cousins who are various nurses have been working really hard now, as ever, but I definitely won't be giving them 20% of my salary for weekends away!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2020 19:56

I think most nurses would rather, y'know and ACTUAL pay rise.

But maybe instead a bonkers PRP deal with a min wage hourly rate and then commission based on feedback form their NHS manager and the patients, and , maybe, their relatives, too. Why ever not?

pfrench · 02/06/2020 20:52

WTAF is this you are talking about? I'm going to have to go and see.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/06/2020 20:53

Don’t do it pfrench

CallmeAngelina · 02/06/2020 21:17

Noooooooooo!
And stay off the 11 weeks one too. I smell a rat.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/06/2020 21:23

I read the first page of the 11 weeks one then bailed. Aren’t people bored of having the same thread over and over. Different title, same old stuff

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2020 21:23

Why would an actual teacher start that thread. FUCK Off would they?!

Piggywaspushed · 02/06/2020 21:28

Oh, not a teacher. Can still fuck off. though.
