You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

Yes I just googled and they're not great.

I hit a wall of fumes once picking ds up from his after school club.

TheHoneyBadger · 03/06/2020 16:45

359 deaths Sad I’m so glad they didn’t let them get away with reducing the threat levels. Reality v spin.

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2020 16:52

No one on that bleeding thread has read the actual article! At no point did the committee blame or hold teachers, or the accursed unions!, to account for this.

CarrieBlue · 03/06/2020 16:58

@Piggywaspushed my cat did the same in our department meeting with a mouse, me screaming to the kids to lock the cat flap was the most exciting part of the meeting!

RigaBalsam · 03/06/2020 16:59

The ignorance that some posters think all schools have massive leafy grounds and fields for port cabins. Angry

minisoksmakehardwork · 03/06/2020 16:59

@NeurotrashWarrior, yes they are permanent but that seems to escape some people who go "oooh! pretty colours!" and don't think of anything beyond that. As attested by our guiding district at an event where one group were using sharpies to colour pictures but had nothing underneath the paper... Someone was eventually despatched to get their professional floor cleaning products to remove the very stubborn stains.

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/06/2020 16:59

Shock why were you deleted on that thread pfrench?

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/06/2020 17:00

Riga, my sons school has so little outdoor space I considered sending him elsewhere. It's just v close.

pfrench · 03/06/2020 17:04

Was I deleted? I think I said something like "No, she made it up to win arguments with bitches on the internet" when someone questioned Appuski's comment on how many teachers in her school were shielding. I'm guessing that was the deleted one. Haha. I'll probably get deleted here now too.

Anyway - today we've told all our BAME staff to stay home. All of our LSAs are BAME + 5 teaching staff + all of our lunchtime supervisors and half of our kitchen staff. We're definitely not in a position now to take any other year groups back, we only have 3 spare staff in total (of which I'm one).

pfrench · 03/06/2020 17:05

(That's my 10 minutes commenting on the bollocks on other threads done for the day, I'm staying here!)

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2020 17:08

Anne Longfield actually seems quite left wing. But she has given up on bemoaning cuts and the end of Sure Start. She clearly thinks she can only win with the government on summer schools and reopening schools.

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/06/2020 17:10

Yes I think it was that P.

I'm glad to hear that re BAME people.

pfrench · 03/06/2020 17:10

This is the outdoor space at my school. For 450 kids.

Loads of room for portacabins and marquees for teaching. HAAA.

Not even a tree for shade if we're told to go outside in the summertime.

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2020 17:16

Does anyone know what dear Gav was even yabbering on about here in an attempt not to answer any questions or accusations

This innovative online tuition pilot is an important part of our plans to put support in place

Is he taking credit for Oak and calling it a pilot??

TheHoneyBadger · 03/06/2020 17:17

Not quite the leafy fields they imagine.

Ours is leafy field and our metal fences are green at least. Much less land than there used to be but still very lucky.

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2020 17:17

You can have all the portakabins you like : you need the teachers in them!

RigaBalsam · 03/06/2020 17:25

Riga, my sons school has so little outdoor space I considered sending him elsewhere. It's just v close.

Same with the primary I attended as a child. Its all streets.

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/06/2020 17:26

I asked this recently; an engineer friend said there isn't enough portacabins in the U.K.

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/06/2020 17:27

Aren't.

My brain is fried.

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/06/2020 17:27

But yes, it's the staff!

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2020 17:29

Ah, all we need is to shut all the old , infirm teachers away and have young ones (so long as fit) bound into the classrooms to protect our children. I seeeee...

Piggywaspushed · 03/06/2020 17:29

Retirement for teachers at 40? 45? YAY to that.

TheHoneyBadger · 03/06/2020 17:44

I’m up for that. Early 40’s and knackered already lol
