As teachers are key workers then all the teachers initially in primary schools will have to send their own children to school so then the schools will have to have more staff in to look after their children and have even less space to socially minimise. (It is certainly not socially distancing in my setting)

Lulu1919 · 11/05/2020 20:59

Wear a face mask in enclosed areas.....but not in a school !????

GrimmsFairytales · 11/05/2020 21:03

The person who wrote that document has never been to a school when there are children in it.

Indeed. I especially love this

use halls, dining areas and internal and external sports facilities for lunch and exercise at half capacity... and adequate cleaning between groups between groups is in place

Dinner time already takes us over an hour, with staggered year groups, and a quick wipe down between each setting. A more thorough clean, and staggering settings even more will takes bloody ages.

PicklePig31 · 11/05/2020 21:04

@OceanOrchid oooo they could have a whole day of maths... as long as their class size is 15 and under... Hmm

pfrench · 11/05/2020 21:06

OK, it's project work right?

Just do a project about the Anglo Saxons. No learning journey, just some art or writing or whatever on whatever days you're in school. Oh, you've coughed - don't come in tomorrow. You've not finished your shield design? Ah well... by the time your test result is negative, we'll have moved onto a diary entry of a warlord. Soz.

SallyLovesCheese · 11/05/2020 21:08

Who is doing all this extra cleaning? I'll be buggered if they think I'm going to sit with 15 kids while they eat lunch then make them wait patiently while I clean all the tables/stools for the next group.

GrimmsFairytales · 11/05/2020 21:11

Who is doing all this extra cleaning?

You mean your school doesn't have a team of cleaning fairies on standby for a situation like this. Wink

Honestly there are more holes in the guidance than there are in Swiss cheese.

Getoutofbed25 · 11/05/2020 21:11

Our younger years is complete open plan play based learning

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 11/05/2020 21:14

Hands should be washed more regularly while restricting the number using toilets at any one time and supervising the hand washing of children too young to do it thoroughly themselves.
Presumably while not mixing groups.

What happens to the key worker kids? If you’re supposed to have half class sizes and aren’t supposed to mix those small groups even on subsequent days, do they end up staying as one mixed age class?

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 11/05/2020 21:14

No public transport!! You couldn’t make it up! I work in a school the size of a small town. The carchment is huge, and then there’s the ones from outside catchment.🤷🏼‍♀️

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 11/05/2020 21:19

@GrimmsFairytales - what a great idea, cleaning fairies! Let's get the 'huns' in to do the cleaning, that way they can learn about the curriculum at the same time - that must be a win-win for us Grin

When I go back my union poster will be going on the wall and I will spend the first session with all my students talking about unions. I am becoming so militant because of MN that I am starting to forget the photocopier codes.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 11/05/2020 21:21

I’m hoping the unions intervene before we go back

GrimmsFairytales · 11/05/2020 21:22

When I go back my union poster will be going on the wall and I will spend the first session with all my students talking about unions.

Not sure Reception would understand, but it's best to start them early. Grin

StrawberryJam200 · 11/05/2020 21:23

@StaffAssociationRepresentative thank you for providing a much needed 😂

LoisSangerAteMyHamster · 11/05/2020 21:30

*My favourite line:

"Parents will not be fined for non-attendance at this time."*

I’ve read the document a couple of times but I can’t see this. Where in the document should I be looking? I maybe missed it because I was crying so hard!

cantkeepawayforever · 11/05/2020 21:30

Just because this is a safe place - I think - to express my bafflement...

So the initial 3 year groups will be in half class groups, needing, therefore, 2x the amount of rooms and 2x the number of staff.

Then what happens when the rest of the year groups are meant to return 3 weeks later? Does that mean we go straight from groups of 15 to full class groups AND more than twice the number of year groups, because we're certainly not finding a double set of classrooms from anywhere??

Just not quite understanding it. And what about breaktime outside? Does that have to be staggered? Or not??

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 11/05/2020 21:32

We can’t social distance with halved classes. It will break the 2 ft rule as the class sizes were massive in the first place.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 11/05/2020 21:33

So wear a mask, social distance, 2m rule, can only meet one other person, but all this is ignored in a school

Grasspigeons · 11/05/2020 21:34

The children can look at but not touch the outdoor play equipment

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 11/05/2020 21:39

And then there’s the classes that are over 30. What do you do with the ‘spare’ children. Just hope they don’t all come in?

HeffalumpsCantDance · 11/05/2020 21:40

Anyone mooted the idea of tents pitched on the grounds of those schools that have the space? Like MAS*H?
Didn’t think they’d let us SD or wear masks in primary, thought that weeks ago. No clapping for us.

Streamingbannersofdawn · 11/05/2020 21:46

Hi everyone. I run a pack away early years setting, one room. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling that this advice is a shambles. Groups? Mine move in packs. Oh and my favourite line is the one about avoiding soft furnishings and hard to clean items....presumably like books, mega blocks, threading items, castles...oh dear...I'd take them outside but...

Just shuffling in for a bit of a cry.

wantmorenow · 11/05/2020 21:49

If checking for high temperatures is not a reliable way of seeing who may be coming into building with covid, then why are NHS staff checking everyone using this method before seeing them for non-covid medical appointments?

Fucking nonsense. The whole document.

wantmorenow · 11/05/2020 21:50

Oh yeah. Airports too.

They think we're brain dead.

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 11/05/2020 21:57

It's ok your class of 15 will have to self isolate for 14 days when you test positive for covid! But you only need to be off for 7 days.

What do you do for the 7 days before your class is allowed back?
