I've not done my planning yet. Someone tell me to get my arse in gear please. Got English, guided reading and a ton of admin stuff to do.

Sigh.

I will definitely start planning on Wednesday, promise!

I have to say I am in complete denial at the moment...

No planning for me, until I've met the children and assessed their needs and interests Halo

MsAwesomeDragon · 28/08/2017 11:05

I haven't started planning yet, but I have learned the new A Level maths syllabus and completed a lot of the exercises from the new textbook.

I'm going into school on Thursday to sort out my classroom ready to start, and I'll do some planning then.

Iknowacrackingowlsanctuary · 28/08/2017 11:16

Gold star for squirrel ⭐️😃

Classroom is ready with all boards backed etc but that's it.....I'm Year 1 though, it'll take them the first week to remember my name and which class they're in 😃

SureIusedtobetaller · 28/08/2017 11:26

My classroom is done- always do it straight away as I quite like that part! I've made a list.
Maybe I need some new stationery first?

I'm waiting until we get a rainy day...........

DermotOLogical · 28/08/2017 11:45

How do people plan for a term?!

I plan day to day (occasionally 2 days ahead). Otherwise I end up in a total mess.

RogerLimasOldestDreadlock · 28/08/2017 11:58

I have tried not to think about school for the last 5 weeks. (Semi-successfully - I discovered fit2teach)

DS1 is booked into some activities this week, so I might get some work done then.

However, rumour has it out department is still a building site. So any prep/planning might be redundant when we get shoved into IT rooms etc

SureIusedtobetaller · 28/08/2017 13:15

I do one unit of English at a time, a couple of weeks guided reading. I like to get half a term of homework/spelling done at a time as it's just a pain.
I'm making stuff now. Pretty stuff. Cos that will help.

Ooh I like fit2teach thank you!

I'm secondary and we have new KS5 and KS4 syllabi, so I decided to just crack on. Obviously will need to tweak them for additional needs etc but most of it is done. Got some good stuff in there too, imho, I think the kids will enjoy them.

SureIusedtobetaller · 28/08/2017 15:13

Well done Squirrel, I am going to crack on with the admin stuff. You have kicked my bum Smile

That's the spirit! I've done jeff all... but I have checked my NQT has done hers! double standards

jennielou75 · 28/08/2017 15:35

I might have bought a bit of stationary!

PumpkinPie2016 · 28/08/2017 15:49

I've planned Y7 for the first week but nothing else Shock

I really need to get going but spent today with my aunt and visited my Nan so I have done nothing!

I have booked DS back into nursery from tomorrow so I will make a proper go of it then. We are back in for INSET on Fri and kids in from Mon so I really don't have much time.

Fingers crossed I will find my motivation tomorrow!

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 28/08/2017 18:23

I'm working looking at stuff on pinterest

I find it impossible though I've got a 2 yr old and a 7 yr old, we've had a lovely summer with lots of days out but if I try to leave them to entertain themselves the best I'll get is an hour before they start bickering/making a huge mess/doing something dangerous.
I've managed one day when I didn't have them to get some stuff done and it just took ages and I'm still nowhere near done.

My head is firmly in the sand.

jennielou75 · 28/08/2017 20:15

I am going in tomorrow for a bit. I went in the first week and am pretty ready but I like to go in this week to be ready for next week. We have inset Monday and ppa Tuesday so it's a short first week!
We also planned the first week before we broke up so am hoping to be ahead for a while. Hmm let's see how long that lasts!

RogerLimasOldestDreadlock · 28/08/2017 20:25

@Youcantscaremeihavechildren - I feel you, mine are 6 & 1.

@jennielou75 what's that 'record book' and where did you get all those pretty things it, please?

jennielou75 · 28/08/2017 20:30

Amazon is your friend! I got them all from there! Here's the evidence!

All my medium term plans are due in on Friday, I am in total denial.

mineofuselessinformation · 28/08/2017 20:43

Ah, but surely you can use all of the 'first' lessons up with 'expectations' and writing their targets on their books, can't you?

jennielou75 · 28/08/2017 20:55

I teach year two and we have all the plans from last year which we can just adapt. I just hope some of the assessment demands change so I can enjoy the whole year with my class.
