The making it to the end of term thread...

I'll start:
I'm completely wiped out (and have been for about the last month).
I still have Yr10 mock exams to mark, a massive data point to input and a new course to try and get everything in place for - oh, and the joys of policing sports day where the entire school will simultaneously try to be in places they shouldn't.
Anyone else with me in raising a glass and wistfully toasting that it's only a couple of weeks to go? Smile

inaclearingstandsaboxer That's brilliant!

Good luck to everyone going into school tomorrow! You can do it!

mineofuselessinformation · 09/07/2017 21:43

I've had people reminding me how long it is to the end of term for the last three bloody weeks.
I really can't deal with it until we're almost there!
I spent most of the day applying for a TLR. I hate filling in forms, but it's something I really want to do. I just hope and pray I'm not the fall guy, like the last time I applied for something and they'd already got someone lined up....

Good luck, mine! Hoping for the best for you.

Ithinkthatsenoughnow · 10/07/2017 14:44

....9...more...days...to...go...

Then our bullying Head leaves and we're all crossing our fingers for better things to come.

I'm exhausted and battered.

Keep going everyone.

Good luck mine

SpeakOutMum · 10/07/2017 15:33

Ithinkthatsenoughnow - Sorry to hear that we're not the only ones to have a bullying Head. Our seemingly Teflon-coated one is unfortunately likely to be allowed to stick around for another year until 'retiring'.

ChinchillaFur · 10/07/2017 18:05

I am knackered too.
9 days to go and I'm definitely counting down.
3 transfer days this week, then a trip and sports day next week.
Still haven't got our timetable for next year yet Shock!

Keep going everyone.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 10/07/2017 18:14

I swear this is the longest summer term ever. It feels like it should have ended now.

I'm vile tempered. I've had it up to here with all my classes. 3 lots of tracking, 6th form and y6 induction. I'm busier than ever and I've still got a whole new course to plsn😭

Acopyofacopy · 10/07/2017 18:55

9 days to go. Even my lovely Y7s and docile Y10s were horrible today. And no let up in sight, because every single lesson counts and we are delivering quality teaching to the last minute...

ChipInTheSugar · 10/07/2017 19:01

Non-teaching staff here, but after two days of vile year 10s giving me grief, threatening to "stick one on" me, and then having to watch them being paraded through my area TWICE by the biggest bully on SLT, I've just about reached the end of my tether. I don't know how teaching staff manage not to swear at the 'orrible ones!

bluechameleon · 10/07/2017 19:02

I am utterly fed up of this term. I have to do a presentation to parents tomorrow about the curriculum and qualifications their children will be taking in September which I really don't have time for. I haven't reviewed my IEPs or written the new targets, I have loads of work for qualifications to get up to date, I have job descriptions to write for 3 staff members who are starting new roles and I have to organise PowerPoints and certificates for awards evening on Wednesday. It'd be fine if I didn't have to teach those pesky students as well! Also I'm 8 weeks pregnant so am constantly nauseous and exhausted! Moan over, thanks for listening.

mineofuselessinformation · 10/07/2017 20:23

Ah, blue, that sounds rough.
Application is in.....

I have lost interest now, but I have so much to do!

swimmingforsanity · 10/07/2017 21:01

I'm at the end too. Nine days to go and then 42 days holiday...

We are in the third week of the new school timetable,so not extra free periods here. We all hate it...just wish they would give us a break. So tired!!!!

pieceofpurplesky · 10/07/2017 21:26

Still don't have a timetable for next year. Loads of marking to do and bursting in to tears all the time.
Would say I am ready for a holiday.

noblegiraffe · 10/07/2017 21:31

Oh god Karla what a nightmare. Last year I didn't have any gained time and it was awful, I barely made it to the summer. Having to do that with brand new classes where you have to be all on-the-ball and with-it to set expectations because you won't be waving them off in the summer would be grim. Cake

elephantoverthehill · 10/07/2017 21:32

For the first time in 19 years at my current school I have a timetable before the end of term. YAY! My legs are giving up the will to support me anymore. I am doing lots of 'group chat' so I can sit down with the students at their tables. Wink

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 10/07/2017 21:32

I'm in Primary, the children have had enough as well.

Puffinsnamechange · 10/07/2017 21:33

@pieceofpurplesky don't cry! I know the feeling very well, but it is a sign that you're not coping (sorry, I mean that in a helpful way). Do you know what your trigger is? For me it's lack of sleep and being hungry. Doesn't mean I can always avoid a wobble, but it helps to know. Have you got anything fun coming up, work or private? Unmumsnetty hugs for you!

elephantoverthehill · 10/07/2017 21:33

Sorry before the end of term not at the end of the summer holidays or on the first day back.

pieceofpurplesky · 10/07/2017 21:50

Thanks puffin. Just one of those SLT teams where however hard you work it is never enough. I hadn't filled in a line of data when son was in hospital, wasn't wearing my blazer to assembly (when it was hot) etc. Just can't seem to do anything right!
Am just totally emotional and menopausal so everything is getting to me. Single mum to a teenage boy and carer to disabled parent to add to it all.
Thanks for the hug Flowers

Puffinsnamechange · 10/07/2017 21:56

That does sound very tough! Has your son recovered? I am finding it hard enough as it is, and our SLT is actually nice and supportive work us hard though. You have my sympathies! Could you write down a positive for each day? Not a positive and a negative, just a positive? I have been doing 3 positives a week in theory and it is really nice to look back at and it actually makes me feel better, both when writing it and afterwards.

noblegiraffe · 10/07/2017 22:01

Bloody hell, piece telling people off for not wearing their blazer is our job. Your SLT have cracked.

elephantoverthehill · 10/07/2017 22:13

Piece and Noble I just put the comment about the blazer down to tiredness, SLT having a go about not getting students to wear their blazers, tuck in their shirts etc. Is this for real? Do you have to wear a blazer? Piece. Why not a gown and mortar board?
