The making it to the end of term thread...

I'll start:
I'm completely wiped out (and have been for about the last month).
I still have Yr10 mock exams to mark, a massive data point to input and a new course to try and get everything in place for - oh, and the joys of policing sports day where the entire school will simultaneously try to be in places they shouldn't.
Anyone else with me in raising a glass and wistfully toasting that it's only a couple of weeks to go? Smile

Ok, so just me then...

Good luck, OP!

I finished on Friday Smile Wine

calzone · 07/07/2017 22:36

2 long weeks and then I leave education forever

ASauvingnonADay · 07/07/2017 22:40

I'm starting to get pretty ratty!

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 07/07/2017 22:44

13 fucking working days until I finish...

thebookeatinggirl · 07/07/2017 22:52

Was in school til gone 6.30pm 2 nights this week, and have had late evenings working at home.

Everything seems to happen at the same time - final edit of reports, IEP reviews and updates, data input and crunching for governors end of year progress trawl, transition day with new class, open afternoon for parents, final performance management form filling for end of year appraisal etc etc

Two weeks to go. I'm exhausted. May even have to resort to a DVD afternoon soon 😉

FrogsLegs31 · 07/07/2017 22:56

Just so far past the point of being able to function properly now... two more weeks.

The students are just past caring about anything and I'm too tired to fight it very hard Grin

Stargirl82 · 07/07/2017 22:58

5 meetings to attend, one transfer day, one trip, 2 sports afternoons, 2 weeks to go! Although today we had a training day and it felt very much like the end of term

elephantoverthehill · 07/07/2017 23:04

Doing Food practical lessons in a room hitting 34 degrees without the hobs on Goodness knows what the temperature was when the students were cooking yesterday and today has helped to wipe me out. I feel like I am clinging on with my fingertips until the end of term. Reports and data done but mocks still to mark. The year 9 students are doing their normal 'Well I'm not taking this subject next year'.

Puffinsnamechange · 07/07/2017 23:38

Fucking year 9 were horrid today, I was virtually crying in class. Kind of relieved to hear it's not just me who's tired and short-tempered (I'm a new NQT)... We're almost there!!

elephantoverthehill · 07/07/2017 23:46

There, there Puffin. If it's any consolation I have been teaching for over 30 years and the Y9s are still 'orrible at this end of the year. 'Light but tight' as one head used to advise.

leccybill · 07/07/2017 23:53

Even my lovely Y7 set 1 were silly and chatty today, I just didn't have the energy to bollock them.
Drop-down PHSE day Monday... joy.

DD in Yr2 came home complaining that her teacher 'didn't clap' her made-up-at-lunchtime dance performance and was a bit grumpy today, after dismissing them at 4.30 after a drama rehearsal. I may have mumbled 'poor woman' under my breath.

BigcatLittlecat · 08/07/2017 11:35

10 days to go! And counting!
#leccybill I had just sat down with my sandwich when my yr3 boys knocked for me to see their breakdancing in the yard! I may have sworn under my breath! Then the bell went. I love them all but just needed 5 mins!

LockedOutOfMN · 08/07/2017 12:19

leccybill, what's drop down PSHE?

Hang on in there, everyone, you're all heroes! Wine

LockedOutOfMN · 08/07/2017 12:19

Pressed post too soon.

Fully agree about Year 9. Hmm

PumpkinPie2016 · 08/07/2017 16:43

Two more weeks until summer hold and I am also wiped out!

Thankfully mocks are done and marked but we have still have a trip which will be a long day, a sponsored well plus lessons - not allowed to show films until the very last day and the kids are starting to climb the walls alreadyConfused

Also got resources to sort for next year and I am moving classrooms as well so need to sort that out!

Just want to sit on the sofa and do nothingBlush

PumpkinPie2016 · 08/07/2017 17:09

Walk not well - stupid phone!

mineofuselessinformation · 08/07/2017 20:47

Glad to hear everyone is hanging on in there!
I marked the first set of mocks today - two more to go....
I may have had a glass God I'm such a liar! of wine to reward myself. Grin

I feel quite organised, oddly. I'm leaving the school and class teaching (promotion) so have quite a lot to sort out. This week I'm only in class 1.5 days (usually 3.5) so I'm hoping that the lovely teachers who are covering are going to keep the kids busy without me planning everything down to the last detail. It's been 30C at least in my room over the last few days and it's hard getting anything useful out of a bunch of over-tired, hot 7 year olds. I banned the word 'Miss' at 2.45 on Friday on the basis that it's always followed by a moan about someone else's behaviour and they are all as bad as each other just now. I said 'good news only please, so you'd better make it happen!'

Griffintoes · 09/07/2017 09:27

Not just you! I noticed I'd been conducting more and more lessons from my chair last week (making an effort to fix that now but it's sooooo hard!). The heat isn't helping, we're all just flopped around the classroom like dead butterflies, and the timetable's fucked because of PE and Music being screwed around for end of term things, and random things happening all the time, and musical rehearsals happening outside my classroom 24/7.

I think the last week will be easier because there's lots of things to do/happening, but next week's the last 'normal week' and is going to be a slog.

noblegiraffe · 09/07/2017 12:12

We've had one annual argument over the timetable (I'm part time) and we haven't been given our sets for next year yet, so there's another annual argument over the timetable to look forward to, as we eye up who has more than their fair share of nice sets.

Y9 were dire this week, more than any other class they whinge about the heat and claim that they can't possibly work because of it. I had one say to me 'Miss, I don't think you realise how hot it is in here'. Hmm I'm in here too, and I'm doing far more than you are!

Acopyofacopy · 09/07/2017 16:05

10 days and counting!

Small blessings over the next 2 weeks include:

The temperature seems to be dropping slightly around here Smile

2 year groups too busy doing PSHE to attend my lessons - 3 extra frees on Wednesday! Smile Smile

Some of my favourite Year 8s away on a sports trip! Smile Smile Smile

SpeakOutMum · 09/07/2017 16:23

Made it to the end - which for us was yesterday - through gritted teeth! An audible huge sigh of relief from some of us, very glad to be leaving the HM behind for the summer or, for the lucky leavers, forever! He is widely described as 'Marmite', but that really doesn't do him justice! So much to love and to miss about our otherwise fantastic school, but unfortunately the HM spoils it for many of us. He is usually at the root of any unhappiness, unfairness and frustration, and it leads to an underlying feeling of stress and anxiety for some staff, parents and children alike. Roll on his 'retirement'! In the meantime, wishing everyone a happy summer and happy futures! SmileGinFlowers

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 09/07/2017 19:10

Dh has a countdown on his phone - he keeps flashing it at me when I start to flag

TheLibraryIsOpen · 09/07/2017 19:52

8 days with students in school and 2 training days and counting!
