How much choice do some of these women have? Same in the Philippines.

How many alternatives do you think they have?

Choice doesn't mean the same in all countries, but you can't judge these women from a western viewpoint.

AllegationsMayVary · Yesterday 13:02

Well The Times article with the exact Qs they are asking shared again by PP in this link states that Buckingham Palace declined to comment under the specific Q what did BP know. They could have a nice clean cut distance and exit if they knew nothing just to say so. H&M were not private citizens and were WRF member when this letter was sent to The Office of H&M in 2019.

That was responding to @Mylovelygreendress at 11.12am.

You can in England.

Ah yes, going through parliament atm. https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/4162

Terrible really. Religion impact, costs the NHS millions. Doubt it'll get through for that first reason.

I do think Harry may use this as a last ditch effort to become under the RF fold again, even if not WRF - security concerns, we will be better inside than out.

The prospect of "if we do not come back, we do an interview"?

Is it a cultural situation where in the US (especially those from within the Hollywood bubble) think the best way to deal with any situation is to speak to the media, whereas in the UK, contacting and speaking to the media is more either say nothing, say no comment, or issue a very short 1 line response to any query?

An interview about what? What more do they really have left to say?

This tawdry mess has destroyed any miniscule chance the Sussexes might have had of being working royals ever again.

I am not judging them, that is entirely my point.
These people - particularly women and girls, are exploited by Western men (and some women) , either sexually or domestically. It's a choice between that and not feeding your family or not paying for medical care?Of course they provide services. It's money that they need.

But as was said previously. BP almost always decline to comment because whatever they say will be forensically examined and two plus two will always make five. Hence never complain never explain

@IcedPurple sorry not clear in my post I meant an interview with the Sun which there are rumours appearing today.

PW played a blinder. Hard to know if BP were aware but I'd say they brace themselves every day regarding HAM

Bloody hell, even I brace myself every day regarding HAM, and I've got nothing to do with the Royal Family!

A clear 'no comment' is the best way of drawing a line in the sand.

Why on earth would BP want to get drawn into the toxic affairs of the Markles? They've never met any of them other than Meghan, and they've not had any real relations with her for years now. This is the Markles' mess. Nothing to with BP, however desperate some might be to make it so.

bluegreygreen · Yesterday 13:08

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · Yesterday 12:13

I wonder if it occurs to anyone in the Markle/Sun camp that they have very possibly scuppered any chance of criminal proceedings against whoever that material belongs to? and if they have, are they proud of themselves?

Yes, @MrsDanversGlidesAgain.

Increasingly I wonder how deliberate that was.

That threat holds so much less weight than it did a few years ago. Now the RF might as well says fine. Fck it, do you what you like. Everyone's a bit desensitized to your blabbing now.

Meghan's got her book to write for a few more pennies.

Whatever.

Silence cannot be misquoted, misinterpreted, twisted or argued with. A very wise move from BP, considering who they're dealing with, because you can bet your boots that if they said they knew nothing, some people wouldn't be happy.

Much better not to embroil themselves in the first place.

If they've selling exclusives to the sleaziest 'news'paper in the land then that is all the more reason for the royals to keep their distance.

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · Yesterday 13:10

The Palace will have no comment as I am sure the are gathering information at the moment; better to say no comment than to say the wrong thing in haste.

This will not bring them back into the RF as they’ve shown they are untrustworthy and refuse to follow advise.

They can do another interview, but they have nothing new about the RF. The more she says now, the more they move towards the celebrity world and away from the Royal one.

Yes I agree and I think the RF really should wipe their hands of them totally, but I do not think that will stop HAM trying!

TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow · Yesterday 13:12

I know we’re talking about Harry and Meghan being out on an iceberg when it comes to the RF but I wonder what the likes of Serena Williams thinks of these goings on and how she views her friends part in it.

But this is nothing to do with BP, Meghan is no longer part of the royal family, she is a private citizen..
KC has never met Thomas Markle , Harry hasnt even met TM so really this is no concern of theirs in the slightest.
Meghan, Samantha & Thomas Jnrs father, their problem !

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · Yesterday 13:13

The Sun is a scum paper. They had to pay DM journalists for illegally hacking them.

If H&M are considering doing another interview, they may do well to consider that AMW thought it was a good idea to do an interview with Emily Maitlis and look how that ended up . . .

bluegreygreen · Yesterday 13:14

"I see the trash rag is now claiming Roslyn wrote that Markle Snr travelled for the "12 year olds", which is clearly appalling if true, but how the hell is the Scum accessing these alleged letters anyway? It's hardly usual for material likely to be needed for a prosecution to be shared with slavering hacks, so what exactly is going on here??"

I don't think the letter Roslyn sent to the Met could be used in any kind of prosecution anyway, which is why its claims were never investigated. It's all hearsay, he said/she said, with no specific allegations and perhaps without indicating any actual crimes. What Roslyn wrote was that Thomas Snr told her he travelled to the Philippines and Thailand because 12 year olds are legal there. She didn't, however, write that did anything with 12 year olds. From the tiny bit of context we have it sounds like they were arguing or something (she had confronted him with some other allegation that he denied and then apparently he said that to her).

In some interview I saw somewhere, Thomas Jr said that he heard that in the 1980s his father - while married to Doria - would travel to Thailand for young women. If this is what Thomas heard, then he may have heard it from his mother, which suggests that the conversation between Roslyn and Markle Sr that Roslyn writes about may have happened many years after their divorce, when she was unlikely to be well-disposed to him.

If Roslyn had real evidence of criminal activity by Thomas Markle then she should have contacted the FBI or American law enforcement, not the Met.

Agree, @BunnyBunbunbun.

I said yesterday that if this is the only piece of evidence of child sexual abuse in the 7-page letter (which clearly we do not know), it does not form anything that a UK police force could forward to an international force as evidence of a crime to be investigated.

It is simply one person's recollection of a conversation in which the other person denied any involvement in illegal activity.
