Even if there were a trial, would Markle Senior be fit to plead?

The Phillipines have policies regarding both advanced age of a defendant and mental competency to understand the legal process they are being tired under. Based on Markle Snr.’s advanced age, health condition and now the potential for dementia to be a factor I doubt the legal and practical landscape would allow him either clear his name, or pay for his crimes via a criminal case brought against him in court.

Unless, thanks to some unforeseen forensics or informants, somebody else gets charged for creating, looking at & sharing the contents of the stash in boxes, with the police clearing Markle Snr. of any responsibility in the process , Markle Snr may have to live with the allegations being his final legacy. Rightly, or wrongly.

Lady C set up a GoFundMe for Thomas Markle. Maybe that is paying for the nursing home.

Edited

I suspect that money is long gone if it ever got to him in the first place. Junior had control of it iirc.

I've seen some Sun apologists (incl Tom Sykes) saying that the Parks fellow from the Sun is a highly respected war reporter or some such, so we should believe what they are telling us.

I have trouble following the logical connection there between 'highly respected war reporter' and 'we should therefore unquestioningly believe him'. Plus, he's a Sun journalist.

Thank you. He's hardly going to be John Pilger. He's writing for a very controversial tabloid which hasn't exactly shown a commitment to feminism, among other things.

The Philippine Police say the review of materials will be completed next week - that doesn't seem very long or thorough

The same thought occurred to me, @MrsFinkelstein, and with notoriously corrupt Philippino agencies, the Scum and the Markles involved it's getting to the point where I'd believe nothing until it's actually proved

I see the trash rag is now claiming Roslyn wrote that Markle Snr travelled for the "12 year olds", which is clearly appalling if true, but how the hell is the Scum accessing these alleged letters anyway? It's hardly usual for material likely to be needed for a prosecution to be shared with slavering hacks, so what exactly is going on here??

I don't think the letter Roslyn sent to the Met could be used in any kind of prosecution anyway, which is why its claims were never investigated. It's all hearsay, he said/she said, with no specific allegations and perhaps without indicating any actual crimes. What Roslyn wrote was that Thomas Snr told her he travelled to the Philippines and Thailand because 12 year olds are legal there. She didn't, however, write that did anything with 12 year olds. From the tiny bit of context we have it sounds like they were arguing or something (she had confronted him with some other allegation that he denied and then apparently he said that to her).

In some interview I saw somewhere, Thomas Jr said that he heard that in the 1980s his father - while married to Doria - would travel to Thailand for young women. If this is what Thomas heard, then he may have heard it from his mother, which suggests that the conversation between Roslyn and Markle Sr that Roslyn writes about may have happened many years after their divorce, when she was unlikely to be well-disposed to him.

If Roslyn had real evidence of criminal activity by Thomas Markle then she should have contacted the FBI or American law enforcement, not the Met.

KnickerlessParsons · Yesterday 11:49

I wonder this too. It's very odd for two wives to leave their kids with the father and just more or less abandon them. I know M saw her mother occasionally but she wasn't a consistent parent. Doria was also very young when she met TM. I can't remember if Roslyn was too. He seems to have gone for young immature women who then left him with the child/children.
In addition Thomas never remarried or seems to have had any real relationship after Doria left him and Doria has never remarried and never seems to have had a relationship with anyone else publicly. It's bizarre.

The DM this morning said that TM junior is also with a partner who is about 30 years younger than him, in Thailand.

Yeah I saw that photo. Made me feel sick. poor girl.

If the woman in the photo is 30 years younger than Thomas Jr then she is 30 years old. A very big age gap, but not illegal and she is very far from being a child.

I always remember Ben Elton quipping in the 80s that, if Dante was alive to describe a 10th circle of hell, it would involve a Sun journalist staring up the arse of the devil.

Neil Sean says that Megan is negotiating an interview with the Sun and another media source that is helping to finance it.

  1. Surely any credibility for their position as campaigners against the evil British media is gone altogether if this happens?

  2. another source is financing it? How much are HAM asking for?

Which makes complete sense because that also the first age at which you can consent to getting your ears pierced in Scotland….before that you need parental consent.

You can also marry your cousin in Scotland.

A lot of things make no sense up here.

Your first cousin?

Agree.

And it is a very different world- I do not judge any woman that choose such an arrangement.

How much choice do some of these women have? Same in the Philippines.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · Yesterday 12:54

That's probably exactly what they do want. Mud sticking and trial by tabloid, without the unedifying prospect of a very public court case where the Markle siblings would be likely key witnesses.

If that is the case (and I do realise we are all speculating wildly here) then cynical old me is wondering who's actually pushing this, because that's almost Machiavellian levels of foresight and planning. TMS accused of historic CSA, no trial because they've scuppered it, loads of sympathy for MM and as a side effect, blowback on the RF for not supporting her through all this.

Of course it means shitting on her DF from a great height when he's ill, old and broke for whatever she's decided he needs to be punished for but heyyyyyyy......them's the breaks, right?

Definitely NOT judging the woman / women. Obviously. My vomit was all reserved for markle, and the many men like him (and his dad) in these places.

This if it is true points to serious financial struggles for Meghan if she is yet again seeking money... on the other hand she is a Markle & that's what they do...

I'm sure I saw something pop up (don't think I read it) that Lady C had accused TMJ of draining the GFM

I wonder if BP knew this was breaking.....because from everything I've read (didn't watch, can't stand GN) PW came over very well.

Yes. I was in the Philippines for a few months. Loved it. But I didn't love the many (usually huge red faced) Western men I saw with these tiny beautiful Philippino women.

Yup. One reason why police seal off a crime scene is so that evidence can be collected without interference. Sun and Markles have comprehensively trashed the chain of evidence and should it come to trial, I'd imagine the defence would love that.

PW played a blinder. Hard to know if BP were aware but I'd say they brace themselves every day regarding HAM
