And the late Queen saying, have a quiet start to the marriage, don't rush into anything, live quietly and below the radar. No chance Lilibet Senior!

I can't help wondering if HM knew about anything about the Markles. I have always assumed that some vetting of families takes place when people marry into the RF just to check if there's something nasty in the woodshed.

The other thing I saw over the weekend was what was said in Meghan's 2020 copyright/privacy case against the DM, where it was argued that the DM harassed TM in order to stir up a dispute between MM and TM, and that the only thing that had come between MM and her father was harassment (of him) by the tabloids. That now appears not to be the case by Meghan's own account.

Court case, magazine articles (People and The Cut) NF docu, sit down interviews….

All maintaining a story to blame the press for the breakdown of their relationship, which obscures the truth and protects Markle Snrs reputation.

Why do they think they will get away with this?

BunnyBunbunbun · Today 09:30

Passingthroughagain · Today 09:17

Richard Kay saying in the DM that the Royals don't know how to handle their response, because if they reach out to M, they can't be sure it will remain confidential.

Which reminds me again – can we assume the 2019 letter was never shared with the King or William, even though the allegations potentially could cause a massive scandal, as they have now?

I'm pretty sure that the royals know exactly how to handle this situation, which is to make no response and just keep things as they are. Why on earth would they want or need to reach out to Meghan?

If ( and it’s a big if in my opinion) M is in cahoots with TMjr , she is playing a dangerous game as on several occasions he has alluded to M’s alleged unsavoury past and I am pretty sure he would turn on her if he felt like it , for instance if the money ran out .

IME it’s more helpful to view this kind of family dynamic as a pinball machine.

Many balls may be bouncing around in play. Two may seem to travel together at certainty points when bouncing around. But with the sheer number of of obstacles as some other point they’ll clash. One will probably bounce into another of the balls, one will shoot off in another direction and one will eventually end up shunting a ball they previously seemed to be in line with into the loser’s pocket.

How the balls align and travel is a case of external forces, gravity, obstacles, reactions and chance. The more balls there are the more moments there will be when some of the balls appear to be moving in tandem. Until they are not. It’s usually less conspiracy and more coincidental same direction of travel, until the next obstacle is hit.

The only way not to play is to refuse to enter the table as a ball.

I don’t believe in 360° free will. But there is always an angle of opportunity where you can choose to go low or go high, as far as the angle allows. So rise above as far as you can. Even when your angle feels unfairly acute while some other fucker has a massively obtuse one. Accept you cannot control your origins, your genes, the environment you were raised in. But also recognise you can grab your locus of control and drag it (kicking and screaming if necessary) as internally as you possibly can. Learn the difference between what you can control and what you cannot. Preferably coming to the conclusion that YOU are the only sure thing you can control. Including your ability to choose silence even when it stings so deeply not to defend yourself.

Keep a sense of perspective about other people’s family flaws, because you know on your own skin just how flawed things can get. Be grateful for what you have when it is more than you need. Be grateful for your current problems because they could be so much worse. Focus on ensuring anybody you create who may inherit genetic traits from you has the most stable and shock free environment to grow up in. So those traits aren’t activated into a known wrong direction. Model non-destructive behaviours those traits can be directed into. Make your North Star being the last in the line of that specific kind of plural generational dysfunction.

That’s the far from easy, not necessarily obvious, but available way to NOT be a ball bouncing on the table of tit for tat and how very dare you. You might “win” if you play. Especially is you’re a bigger, better, more powerful ball. But you and those close to you will still get bounced around and badly bruised in the process of “winning”.

They would have had to do their due diligence. Perhaps they told Harry and he ran with it anyway. They couldn't stop him marrying her and if they said find but you can't be working totals ....rage would ensue. Racism !

@AtIusvue oh my goodness, you’re right!

We do know that Markle Snr on reviewing the letter immediately shut up. There were no more pleas for Meg to reach out.

With this coming out, he could have denied it. Say he has dementia. He’s probably too ill to go to trial. He might even be gone by then…

They could have pinned it on TM Jnr making money etc… TM / TM Jnr / SM could say what they like to the papers. Ignore them.

By introducing the letter Meghan has inserted herself into the story making it 100 x bigger. I mean, SHE is saying her dad is a…

This would all have gone away in a puff of media smoke. She should have styled it out, been pictured looking sad on a walk with H.

He sort of says that in Spare. The late Queen seemed reluctant to agree, but realised she couldn't stop it.

Her brother has said he was "loyal" to the wrong person for 9 years - this to me indicates wars going on within this family. I will be loyal to the person who pays me the biggest bucks. He obviously sees this as Meghan now. The usual verbal diarrhoea but with splatter because it begs more questions.

Not possible with Meghan. She has to be the one in charge - bossing people about on stage as to where they stand , moving Harry on from talking when she decides it's enough. She has to do it.

Starryfifty · Today 09:37

It's incredible how much Meg's appearance has changed. 8 years is not a huge amount of time tbf. She looks like a completely different person.

And ignored your family members who said that you know nothing about them. Your brother fighting with you over it. He was bloody warned.

I often read about young, wealthy men finding dating hard because they aren't sure if they trust a woman to love them for them or for their money/status/land/lineage. That the second son of the future King of England (etc.) rushed into marriage without even meeting the brides father is mind-boggling.
And the fact that no one could stop him shows that all the talk of the controlling RF is, frankly, total bollocks.
You just have to curtsey to the hierarchy, and women should cross their legs at the ankles not the thighs, wear tights and have a weighted hemline. That's it. Those are the rules.

SiegfriedSassoon · Today 09:38

I do think that with regards to the HaM engagement, the RF hands were absolutely tied because of her heritage. If she'd been a markle without a black mother, I do think they'd have made attempts to deter Harry.

HoldMyWine · Today 09:39

The irony is, if HaM hadn’t flounced off and trashed the RF, they would still be in the fold and this whole drama would have been carefully managed by the MIGS in such a way that M would be seen as someone to be sympathised with, for a situation that was not of her making.
Unfortunately, after years of drama and accident, no one believes a word that HaM have to say, for me it’s a case of ‘ here we go again/ whatever next?’.
Harold really couldn’t have married into a trashier family. What a fool he has been.

mysoddenbananabread · Today 09:40

SiegfriedSassoon · Today 09:12

I can't imagine Harry is coping with all this very well at all. I cannot believe that he isn't starting to feel like he's been played for a fool.

Also, all those photos of Meghan that are being shared from 7/8 years ago, I'd forgotten that she was beautiful. We've all aged in 8 years but she actually looks ravaged by time and it's quite a shock to see how much she's changed. I wonder how much is due to stress and bitter thoughts.

Well it's certainly fucked up his plan to be the Prince of England out on his philanthropic mission in his life of service. No one is talking about that now.

Well HAM will end up destitute if they get into bed with Tom J. He will bleed them dry. He hinted in the past about Meg's shocking past and apparently has proof she had a hysterectomy 🙄

Surely not. Meghan working with her brother and The Sun??? That seems very far fetched, even for this sorry old circus.

Getting into bed with the Sun was a bad move. It’s obviously been choreographed, the slick responses and “evidence “ to find out over several days as and when Meghan decided to press go.
Aren’t these the tabloids Harry keeps taking to court for invasion of privacy? I also agree Harry’s been blindsided in this too.

Quite right: his title is the Duke of Sussex, not the Prince of England and remains so at the present time. Harry's vision of a public life of service was clearly disrupted by the split with the institution. Whether you approve of his choices or not, that is a separate argument from what his title happens to be.

Yes, and the Sun is now Meg’s preferred publication.

If so, she's riding a tiger, as they say!

Yes, she shouldn't have believed her awful brother, the pernicious Martin Bashir, nor become friends with and hung out with the very questionable Al Fayeds.
Oh, and worn a seatbelt.

Are you suggesting William didn't marry for love? How ridiculous.
