The royal family

Harry & Meghan - what does the future hold?

I’m not really sure whether I can articulate this very well, but I’ll give it my best shot.

I think I support a route for Harry and Meghan to find a route back into the fold of the royal family, and find that odd and conflicting given everything that has happened.

I found the Oprah interview, the freedom flight, the Spare revelations awful. It felt really unpleasant the way Meghan came into the royal family, was active for so little time and then criticised it all so publicly and in a way that seemed a bit of a cultural miss (I’m not referring to the racism allegations here). I think that her American mindset perhaps did not fully understand the tacit consent nature of the royal family and the constitutional delicacies with which the titles are held. This is why it makes commercialisation and speaking at round tables about ‘power’, jarring.

However, despite ALL of this this, I see two human beings. One man who has grown up, without any consent, in a strange institution, in the glare of the spotless, completely traumatised by the death of his mother in horrendous circumstances when he was a young boy. A veteran too. Although not comparable to this, Meghan clearly has also had a dysfunctional childhood too. These latest revelations around her father mean that from the outside, none of us really know what’s going on.

I would like them all to just be happy. I feel like collectively it would be awesome as a nation if we could give the family the framework to sort it all out by just saying ‘look, H&M, you did some crazy shit, it was hugely damaging and cruel. But we understand that you guys have gone through crap too. Let’s look forward- try and sort it out’.

I’d honestly like to be done with the drama and for everyone to just get on. Does anyone else feel like this? I know it doesn’t really work like this in practice, I’m just trying to get across how I’m feeling.

Please also try and be a bit kind in your responses. I think this is coming from a place where everything just feels really negative/heavy in life at the moment and the need for some positivity,

I don’t think there is a way back to RF, it would completely cheapen RF and be a laughing stock.

I don’t blame H+M for leaving, but I cannot forgive how they did it and how they treated the Queen as her husband was dying. Their choice what they said and fair enough.

Her Father seems to be guilty of all sorts of awful and again they had their reasons and that is ok. This I do not dispute or have issues with.

H+M need to find their own path and not retreat to the Crown, you cannot trust them which is also why California did not work. Their books and interviews alienated them from all the top players inc Obamas.

Im not keen on M, but I part feel sorry for her as H cannot be easy to live with.

The online hate, nastiness and cruelty are unnecessary and could never be productive. That includes the Sussex Squad, doing a good job of reminding us that white people can also be the targets of racism.

When the actions or inactions of Palace are contributing to their mental health in a negative way.. that's an issue.

I also don't think then contacting professionals, is as easy as it would be for you or I. This is something she mentioned on relation to accessing support.

Harry, William and Catherine headed up a mental health charity! You don't think Harry could've called privately on his contacts for help, if he didn't want to go through his office?

And when it comes to Harry and Meghan living life as they choose, as Sussex Supporters insist, shouldn't that apply to the Royal Family too? We might not understand their way of life and their stiff upper lipness, but if Harry and Meghan should be afforded the freedom to live as they please, why can't the King, Camilla, Catherine and William?

Shake all you like. To what would you attribute a group of black women suggesting a white woman has been battered by her husband, is in a coma because she hasn't been seen, doesn't have cancer even though she says she has, and is being cheated on by her husband?

Meghan had been bought a full maternity car3 package at the private Portland Hospital. Do you seriously claim that she had no support from them? Also, H had his therapist on speed dial - why did H not help her? Is he a helpless child with no agency?

They lied and lied. M even claimed the RF nabbed her passport…yet she’d been abroad more than once privately during the period in question, including to a baby shower in NY.

Don’t believe everything they’ve told you.

Remember that Meghan is a miracle worker. She told Oprah the palace removed her passport and yet she managed to travel to New York for a baby shower.

This is gospel truth to the squad, and if anyone on here wants to see actual vitriol (which we hear so much about), may I suggest a look at the hate-site Celebitchy.

I’ve never seen anything like it - those people are sick.

Their problem was / is that wise, classy people saw straight through them.

They were left with the dregs, not the A listers they had aspired to court.

They are ALL living as they choose, or in some cases, as they are expected to live.

In relation to Harry getting support via his MH contacts..... that's just not how they were allowed to do things... which they said when asked about getting MH support.

Celebitchy is terrifyingly bitchy. Posters are really imaginative in finding ways to rubbish the Princess of Wales and praise Meghan, although they are struggling with the decision to return to the UK - Salty Island, as they call it.

Harry has stated he had his therapist on speed dial pre-Megxit. He almost certainly would have had his private secretary arrange the sessions – so why couldn't they do that for Meghan?

They just lie and lie and lie.

'Which they said' - so that's HAM's account. What we don't have is the palace's. No way could it be the case that Meghan said 'I am suicidal' and the institution said 'Tough. No help for you. It would harm our reputation if people thought we had a looney in our midst. If you end up dead by your own hand, so be it. That would enhance our reputation.'

Fluffyholeysocks · 24/10/2026 19:10

@SandyY2K - Do you think H is living as he chooses? Or do you think he is taking opportunities as they arise or as they are forced on him? Do you think he chooses to live in another man's house for example?

Not allowed? Ever heard of the Duchess of Kent and the severe trauma that led to her hospitalisation for severe depression back in the 70’s? honestly the rubbish that is spouted on here as fact.

They are horrible people. I won’t repeat the worst things here but they are truly wicked in what they say about Catherine and her health in particular.

They also encourage and relish the bullying campaigns the Squad have carried out against eg the woman who dared to question M’s AsEver trademark (she already had a business with the name) and managed to put her out of business for a while - oh, and the threats to the vicars who gently criticised M’s expensive advent calendar. It’s really another world on there and gives a flavour of what HaM fanatics are actually like.

Aren't there overlaps between the Sussex Squad and Celebitchy's Kaiser?

It’s possible. The posters openly support the Squad and celebrate their campaigns. On MN I’ve rarely seen a Meghan supporter admit to supporting them, and certainly not to being part of it, but they do on Celebitchy.

Kaiser is horrible. And you can’t post anything which doesn’t toe the line on the HaMs - absolutely NO dissent is tolerated. It’s a pathetic echo-chamber of spite on the RF-HaM treads.

I think Celebitchy has blocked me. Ages ago, I tried to correct a factual error about the UK that contradicted a pronouncement of Meghan's and it never got published.

twinklystar23 · 24/10/2026 19:35

Whilst it is less the case in some scenarios it is still how members of the RF conduct themselves towards each other especially in public.

It is part of the customs for the BRF. Which she actively chose to join. She chose to remain (selectively?) Ignorant of many aspects of Royal protocol (archie being denied a title ) I find this incredibly hard to believe given she has a degree in international relations. However anyone could have learnt relatively easy parts like the national anthem a quick Google would suffice.

Nonetheless I think as other posters that there is no way back. Had they not done the interviews, books etc had tried to carve out a life in the US, I certainly think they could reconcile. Alas, not now I'm sure W& C don't want them anywhere near them let alone their children

Same here! I also tried to post to correct some of their stupid errors (that’s being kind…I wouldn’t put it past Kaiser to promulgate falsehoods about the RF and the British, whom she detests) but got nowhere.

They scare me, frankly. I hope they’re a very tiny minority because it’s disturbing to think that people like that walk amongst us.

They are scary. I was tempted to try and post on a similar matter and make a comment about them blocking me because the truth hurts. Then I had visions of them tracing me through my email address and a gang of heavies turning up on my doorstep. I've only ever had such a thought in the case of Celebitchy.

They're in the news all the time. We get their rubbish shoved down our necks all the time. Even the Telegraph insists on reporting their every move.

Here's a helpful tip, just ignore it, I never read any articles about them, just take in the headlines and read some of the stuff on here to try and undertand why they evoke such intense feelings. I am truly mystified by it, it reminds me of teenagers rowing about which band it the best. As i have said before, I think we should abolish the monarchy, it clearly affects too many people in a rather unhealthy way as well as being not espcially good for the royals themselves.

I completely get that!

Kaiser is well-named…or maybe it should be Fuhrer!
