Poor Harry. As if his week hasn’t been bad enough he has now had to watch his brother appearing on the best talk show , holding his own, looking comfortable and relaxed, keeping up with the banter, making half decent jokes, telling stories against himself with humour.

Makes Harry’s attempt at tv chatting seem even more uncomfortable.

“Call me William” versus “I am a prince.”

Yes, or jeans and desert boots.

Oh yes! Definitely a case of “Who’s the grown-up here?” Not to mention who’s the future king!

A subtle but powerful message.

He looked sharp. Well tailored 👍🏼

Robert Irwin wore a bow tie! He was so sweet.

Sweet isn't the word I'd use to describe Robert Irwin - he was looking pretty good from where I was sitting 😂

Was that in his suit or his underwear? 😆

Didn't William comment on the snake?

Both 😂

He was so embarrassed, poor love - and then made it worse by trying to make the snakes and spider the focus of the photos, when it was quite obvious that no-one was looking at them!

HamTwatter · 24/10/2026 17:01

Bless him, he was only 2 when Steve died. Young enough to not remember too much but old enough to know that something had shifted very deeply in his life.

He's turned out into such a lovely young man - great work and an effective ambassador for Earthshot.

He really has - and it was great that PW acknowledged that and said that was why he was an ambassador for Earthshot.

Yes, I thought William was great at not taking credit
Some people certainly would have.

Possibly Harry saw it and felt proud.

Why the assumption of competitivemess?

Absolutely

I see that the financial backing for Earthshot comes from a mixture of HNWs around the world. Tech giants, billionaire philanthropists, and DP World logistics in Dubai. Aren't they all great and generous just the same. Well at least it's not our taxpayer money.

I wonder if these backers will get anything from Earthshot, but maybe they are just doing it out of their love of the environment. Who knows.

If you think about the energy company which went from fossil fuels to off shore wind farms, then you have the future there. That's six million UK homes. Also the person making "plastic" out of seaweed. That's got to be an earner. The London Marathon was plastic free.

They get commercial deals out of it

The tech giant funders use massive water and power guzzling data centres. Earthshot approved I suppose.

If you're trying to sneer at Earthshot, don't bother. The data centres exist. Better they use wind power than fossil fuels. At least this is an attempt - so far successful - to get people to work on creative solutions for waste and energy in order to at least minimise what's going on with the planet.

Unfortunately, a certain amount of pragmatism is required when dealing with backers. Data centres are what they are, currently, as far from ideal as that may be. Would you prefer that everyone just wring their hands and do nothing to try and tackle the planet’s man made problems because a perfect solution can’t be found? We have to start somewhere The tech companies are the ones with the money. Upscaling solutions is not possible without backing

leperol · 24/10/2026 17:39

I think everyone should have a questioning and somewhat cynical approach to billionaire backers. Fair enough if they are progressing Earthshot with their money, however there is always a payback somewhere. These backers are not all philanthropists, even though some are.

So what if they're not? At least they're backing something that helps. The poorest people of the Caribbean have to clear tonnes of plastic waste from their beaches. The environment is being trashed. Should creative solutions not be developed? Should taxpayers pay for it all?

Oh I think everyone is going in with their eyes open. William even said on the show last night that Earthshot wasn’t about philanthropy. He said that money would be made. But made through solutions to issues faced by the planet eg the seaweed “plastic” Notpla that pp alluded to

leperol · 24/10/2026 18:28

I wonder did William contribute anything from his billions. Maybe he did.
