Well we have had the attempted upstaging of the Welsh senate …..now the Oman state visit….we all hope that whatever advisors that they still have will not allow any thing to interfere with Aberfan! 🤞

I think that how they talk about their children is incredibly creepy and disturbing.
I have never heard anyone speak like they do about DCs.
I suspect that they are largely cared for by Nannie’s and wheeled out for photo opportunities. They never seem to be seen with other children,
I really do feel sorry for them, it’s such an artificial and contrived environment.

Also Meg said the past 7 years of her life were her worst and she wanted to kill herself while pregnant with Archie, who is 7.

Having narc parents is tough going. Those kids are in for a lot of misery.

I predict they'll be wheeled out soon enough to get some headlines

I have visited the memorial garden and the cemetery in Aberfan. It’s a very sobering experience. The rows of the graves , many of which have portraits of those who lost their lives is heartbreaking.
Never to be forgotten.

I have been there too, it’s a very sombre and peaceful garden, such a poignant place.
i was 13 when the Aberfan disaster happened, our neighbours’ son was a forestry worker in south Wales and one of the people who immediately went to try and save the victims.
He never spoke of it other than to once say that it was utterly heartbreaking and devastating and that it changed him forever.
I’m unashamed to say that it still reduces me to tears 60 years later.
So unnecessary and brutal.

Thank you for the recommendation, but being in the US I can't access BBC/BBC iPlayer.

I don't think even a VPN will do, since I wouldn't have paid the license fee.

I use a VPN from Oman and watch the BBC and I player.

eta - Re the license fee. I hadn’t thought about it before but I do have one in the UK that’s only used occasionally.

I remember it. I remember coming home from primary school with my siblings, and we found Mum on the sofa, weeping. She'd heard the news about Aberfan and thought about the parents whose children wouldn't be walking through the door from school that day.
That's 60 years ago and I have never forgotten her grief.

I've been lurking on this thread (and the previous 2!)
i could have written your post, I came home from secondary school, 1st year, to find my mum sobbing. She’s long gone now but I’ve never forgotten that day

I remember that day so well. Just back from my honeymoon and seeing on TV the map showing where Aberfan is and realising that it was just literally over the hill, in the next valley, from Aberdare which is where all my family come from. We were there last year. Still surrounded by slag heaps although they are all grassed over now. I doubt that makes them all safe though.

I always think of Aberfan when I pass through Aberdare when I’m in Wales.

TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow · 21/10/2026 17:46

My over riding memory of the time was the women in our tenement buildings out on the street with their pinnies on and their faces being grey with shock.

I can't wait to see the drama about Angela Kelly's relationship with the Queen! I didn't watch the Oprah interview, I didn't watch the Netflix series, or WLM, I didn't read Spare - I didn't want to give them the viewing figures or any money - but I will definitely be watching the AK drama!

As for Harry's latest incontinent witterings to GQ, I wonder if another reason for their move is them (but particularly him) trying to provoke the RF into reacting? After all, we've had six years of constant revelations and 'truth bombs' lobbed from CA and the RF's reaction has been ... absolutely nothing. Their lack of reaction is a masterclass in the 'grey rock' technique. Whatever he does and says, however hurtful, humiliating and devastating it must be to hear these things broadcast to the world by professional victim Harry, they ignore him. That must drive Harry crazy, surely?

I think it must be quite humiliating for him by now, surely.

Perhaps HaM have come back to get the millions they are going to need for the kids' therapy when they grow up and read some of the stuff about their parents.

cheezncrackers · 21/10/2026 18:01

I just wonder if in his pathetic little victim head he thinks 'They can ignore when I'm in California, but they can't if I'm right here in Blighty!'

And yet, here he is doing all he can to get their attention and all he's achieved is a bland round robin from the King to the press to re-state that the terms of the Sandringham Summit remain in place and that nothing regarding their status has changed.

I find it all rather amusing Grin

what the monarch can create with the stroke of a pen the monarch can take away

They've done that before too, @AutumnCrowSeesDensePeople
I'm sure we all recall being told that Charles "couldn't" do this and that over Andrew's titles, yet suddenly there it was, done by Letters Patent

HesGotHisTrombolise · 21/10/2026 18:18

AutumnCrowSeesDensePeople · 21/10/2026 17:12

My understanding from the article by Professor Master Graham Zellick is that with regard to titles and styles, Harry couldn’t challenge the removal of HRH and Prince. He might be able to challenge the removal of the royal duke title unless it went through parliament, although of course it doesn’t come with lands or assets so he’s left challenging something he was given as an honour by the monarch, and what the monarch can create with the stroke of a pen the monarch can take away.

Note: Harry’s done many more inappropriate things since this was written.

https://middletemplar.org.uk/to-strip-or-not-to-strip-prince-harrys-titles/

He would still be left as ‘Sir’ as QEII knighted him when he left the army for services to the monarch. That’s one that also sticks in my craw.

Thank you @AutumnCrowSeesDensePeople . And so, we wait.

Spent part of my childhood in that area there were still slag heaps and kids played on them

Starryfifty · 21/10/2026 18:26

Of course H would threaten legal action if titles were removed but who in all seriousness would represent him ?

Perhaps HaM have come back to get the millions they are going to need for the kids' therapy when they grow up and read some of the stuff about their parents.

If I found my mum on record for saying she contemplated suicide while prenant with me, there would need to be some pretty extreme mitigating circumstances for that not to fundamentally change my view of her. Like her having a very serious longterm mental illness, the pregnancy being the product of rape, it being a forced marriage. Otherwise I can't understand it. I had hyperemesis in my pregnancies up until the 7th month, I couldn't keep any food down and barely any water. I was skin and bone, hospitalised for dehydration many times and perinatal depression came like clockwork every pregnancy weeks 8-16, a black cloud would descend and I would feel an overwhelming sense of despair. It was quite unbearable but I was deeply committed and protective of my unborn child throughout. I wouldn't have felt I had the right to end my life while I was carrying them. I know some will say it's not right to criticise her suicide claims but it's something I feel very strongly about. Women have carried their babies through far worse things than I ever have. There are women who lose one of their children or their husband while pregnant. What was so terrible in Meghan's life to excuse her contemplating killing herself and her unborn baby. This will come back to bite her one day and I think she knows it because she absolutely hated it when Jane Pauley brought it up a couple of years ago. There's no way Archie won't ask her about it when he's older.

Honestly I dont think Doria is actually a very maternal person. She seems to have abandoned meghan for a good portion of her childhood. Theres no indication that she has a close relationship with her grandkids, or even meghan. If there were tons of photos of her playing and looking happy with the kids they would have been posted on Instagram as part of their 'happy family away from the cold royals' narrative. I'd imagine that the bulk of child rearing is done by nannies in that household

Things also seemed rather frosty between them during the filming of WLM

Doria didn't like the dish Meghan made for her (and pulled a face)

At the end when Meghan was "hosting a lunch party" - Doria seemed a reluctant participant

When she went through all her MH difficulties, there was no mention of contacting Doria.

He’s like an irritating little twerp, twittering along in the background and getting increasingly more frantic.
it’s like a slowly dripping tap, a squeaky wheel or an earworm that won’t shut up or a background noise just loud enough for you to notice if you stop doing something.
He’s too dim and arrogant to realise that the RF have moved on, he’s irrelevant to them (and the majority of the UK public, judging by popularity polls)
