I think the HaM’s desire currently is simply ‘exposure’. That’s the PR brief and that’s their goal. Any old exposure, involving anything and anyone.

It’s all very silly, all very ‘rif et raf’.

They’ve apparently gambled on never losing their titles under Charles III. Beyond this, they may not even have much of a plan. It’s up to the public now whether they respond to them, really, but that in turn will depend on how they are portrayed by the media, and online.

I’m definitely seeing ‘figures of fun’ and ‘derision’ writ large already, along with the jokes last night on Mock The Week specifically about breaching his father’s trust and being a shit son. And H is possibly going to insult the whole UK again as ‘racist’ in the forthcoming documentary with the unserious Doreen ‘the Grenfell Firefighters were racist’ Lawrence, at a time in the UK when such unevidenced allegations are not landing at all well. Also unpopular in the UK is the gender-woo identity politics embraced by, say, Smart Works and elements of Malala’s political philosophy.

A financial scandal or two may also be on the horizon: I wonder if investigations might be bubbling in the Mail’s offices, alongside the Sussex Squad stuff. And/or something on the Sussex-York connections predating or exceeding those already known. In chasing exposure, HaM are actually quite vulnerable to scandalous exposure, whether they accept it or not.

I’m not a supporter of the RF generally, but I can’t see for the life of me what Prince Harry is meant to have done wrong here? I think it’s good that he is supporting nurses.

Insincere and superficial for starters.
He doesn’t have a bloody clue what it’s like to work as a nurse ( or anything else when it comes to it).

Every single video of those kids, is Archie walking, running, biking, scooting ahead and Lili trailing behind. Every single time.
I have never seen any interaction between the kids…ever. Or even interaction of the kids with their dogs.
That’s not normal behaviour

Oh fhs what you see on-line is literally a snap shot. Archie is a little boy, an older brother, running ahead of his sister. That’s perfectly normal behaviour.

None of us have any idea what their sibling relationship is like.

I think you are grasping at straws to try and find things to criticise at this point.

You don’t have to like their parents but I think’s it’s despicable to pick on children as a means of criticising them.

So would you criticise the rest of the RF for giving a nurse an award because presumably they don’t have a clue what working as a ft nurse is like either?

It’s not going to give him much of a reliable income stream though

They do seem to have an absolute genius for generating (mostly negative) attention and then being incapable of monetising it. Like PPs, I do wonder if they look back on their pre-Megxit situation and think it was really quite a cushy gig.

Trust pilot reviews are awful! Many 1 star reviews.

TrustPilot isn’t widely used in US though. (Don’t ask AI, that info isn’t accurate.) I tried three major stores and all 3 had terrible reviews and not many at all.

I sincerely wish they’d leave their children out of it and stop posting these videos for public consumption. It’s reckless at best.

I don’t think we can compare Harry to the institution or individuals working on behalf of it.

I would roll my eyes at Don Jr doing what Harry is doing. I think that is a better comparison.

Noticed that with Lili too .. was probably the 4th or 5th attempt at getting the perfect shot & Lili had enough..
Does anyone know if Meghan posted this before or after the pictures of Catherine & Charlotte on the tube hit the net?

I have hope for Lily and an early rebellion. 🤞

Actually I’m quite surprised that Meghan hasn’t gone down the Hollywood Mum of child star route (though I suppose there’s still time). Of course she won’t want to be outshone by a more beautiful, more successful daughter once Lily is older, but managing a child star should be right up her street, giving her child the childhood she must have longed for.

I am all for the royal family essentially going grey rock with HaM, it’s definitely the right strategy. I’m also all for the two statements released (recollections may vary and then private citizens). What I’m not for is the fact that the pair of them are still on the bloody website. They need a short, sharp and definitive shock, though I doubt it would completely hit home for them, they seem immune to self-reflection. But it would definitely send a concrete message to the public.

They are barely visible on the website. No one will notice them on there unless one goes looking for them.

Keeping them on the website is complying with the Sandringham Agreeement: they are simply former working royals who stepped back from their duties to focus on other interests and no longer represent the King. Even Princess Alexandra is still up there and she hasn't done anything for yonks. Removing them would make it seem as though there was a big fallout. Yes, there was a fallout but the royal family doesn't work according to the rules of conflict but according to the rules of compassion and care and not coming across as aggressive. Andrew has been removed, but his case is unique.

Except everyone is holding them to the same standard aren’t they?

And its’s unfair because H&M don’t have the same resources or structure around them as when they worked under the umbrella of the RF. Nor do they have favourable press such as the royal rota being deferential about them.

I don’t blame Harry for carrying on doing charity work. He has consistently said he still wanted to serve right back from the Sandringham summit days. His unique circumstances of birth mean he can’t get an ordinary job. And I think he has a knack for it. And let’s face it, he isn’t really trained for anything else.

Later on in his life, I can see him being a ranger in an elephant conservation area in Botswana or somewhere, flying helicopters etc, but for now his children need to be educated which means he has to live in a more urban setting.

No, I don’t think people are holding them to the same standard. We are all a bit shocked at them purposely ginning up so much press.

There is no need for them to keep issuing statements about their activities. If they’d stop that, most of the criticism would cease.

And we certainly did roll our eyes at and criticise Ivanka Trump for trying to fill a role on ‘the world stage’ for which she was not qualified. She embarrassed herself with world leaders, to the world, born of an arrogance based on who her father was.

There's time yet for Momager Meg to emerge if everything else fails!

@ can't remember where I saw it but there's speculation that A&L might be fully featured in their Christmas card this year.
I think they'll have to start revealing the kids soon as after Diana there really isn't anything left of interest now..

The royal rota is just a rota.
They're not "deferential". That's Harry's imagination.
Harry and Meghan chose to walk away from being senior working royals and not have the structure of the RF behind them. So now it's not their fault they don't have it?
How on earth could he be a ranger in Botswana? It's not some bin country for failed aristocrats.

elessar · Yesterday 09:29

I do think it’s disgraceful that Harry is on some documentary about race relations in the U.K.

What has he got to add to the topic? Absolutely zero.

He’s demonstrated racist behaviour himself in the past on numerous occasions. He hasn’t lived in the UK for six years, and never been outside of his extremely privileged bubble.

he has no idea about normal people or society.

This is one (of many) areas where he should STFU and keep well clear.

I’m disappointed to hear that the BBC are involved in this project.

He isn't supporting nurses per se. It's a WellChild award, one of the few organisations that he still has an association with, from when he was a working royal, before Meghan entered his life. All he has really are the leftovers from his working royal days.

I doubt he'd be selected to give an award to a nurse (or anyone really) in the UK for many other organisations other than the ones he only developed an association with because he was a working royal. Being a working royal, in his pre-Meghan life, was the only thing that gave him relevancy.

You're right. However, they have to keep issuing statements because they're desperate for publicity.
They're nothing without it.
They are like 18thC royals, only doing the minimum to get applause, not answering to anyone and trading on titles.

But his children were already being educated in an urban area in California so why pull them out of that settled environment & put them in school here only to pull them out after a couple of days for another school.
Basically why are they here?

Bloomandbust · Yesterday 09:32

For the life of me I don’t see what would be wrong in Harry continuing to do charity work and Meghan earning a living; like hundreds of vicars wives throughout the country nowadays, they appear at church events when they can, but the rest of the time they are busy earning a living and raising the children.

If the RF are going to modernise and adapt, and have enough family members fulfilling their remit; then they are going to have to learn to treat those who marry in with a bit more flexibility. It’s hard enough finding people who want to marry in at this point.

Interesting that this is Harry's gig & not Meghan's. Megahan could be quite good here as apart from the obvious being mixed race herself she is articulate & a good speaker.

How were they not treated with flexibility?
In their short time as working royals, they were given the engagements they wanted and the tours they wanted.
It was all geared to help and support them.
Oh and other royals manage to have happy and successful marriages.
