I'm very sorry @LifeIsTooShort247 that I came across as critical.

I'm not experienced in expressing myself as well as, I've realised, most posters on RF are.

I understand why you would feel I came across as critical ( re-reading my own post) but what I really meant to say was that of course, meeting at a luxury hotel was to be expected, given the circumstances, most definitely.

What I meant, and it was only my opinion, I don't expect anyone else to agree, is that Malala appears humble in dress and demeanor, and I would think has seen poverty and depravation that most certainly her host has not.

Therefore I felt that, given the occasion and her guest, M might have had the sensitivity not to over dress to the point where she laid herself open to being publicly ridiculed for her choice.

M has positioned herself as a dedicated humanitarian, and her actions of the day, imo, don't reflect that she gave much thought to how she would be perceived by her guest, Malala, and by the public.
She has seemingly not yet learned to observe how conscientiously the RF have, and do, conduct themselves in every situation they are in.

Again, my apologies @LifeIsTooShort247 for my clumsy post.
I feel badly that I've made you think I was criticising anyone else.
I would never do that, it's not my way at all.

Why are you apologising? , that poster is a Sussex supporter and is not shy about it , and now you have tagged her!

It seems I have a lot to be sorry for :( @jeffgoldblum , I'm sorry.
So much for my foray into posting; back to lurking safely in the wings!
I didn't know about the SS, I don't think she minded me mentioning M's attire, she thought I was attacking her personally; a misunderstanding.

HoldMyWine · 11/10/2026 17:34

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned but Matt Wilkinson of the Sun is reporting that As Ever is going to start selling in the Uk. Form an orderly queue ladies

I thought with all those outfit details she'd just got lost and came across this board while looking for Style and Beauty.

Don't be a silly mouse! Please come back out to play (some Life's are hard to offend...)

BemusedAmerican · 11/10/2026 17:37

As an American, the initial 92 pounds for tea at Claridges seems cheap - I expected it to be pricier. However, as I own no real jewelry and no designer clothes, I doubt I can darken the Claridges door. If they start serving As Ever spread then I'm not wasting my money on scones covered with that.

I feel sorry for Ralph Lauren. He's such an American designer and doesn't deserve to have his clothes look like crap so publicly.

Also, would it be tacky to ask Claridges for a doggy bag box for the leftovers? I would have taken the food home to share with friends.

No you don’t, your original point was perfectly valid and you should never apologise to anyone for your opinion, you are just as worthy to speak as anyone, you don’t need to apologise to me either , I was just making you aware, please feel confident to post 💐

As I mentioned in my post on her IG post from Claridge's with Malala, she used the word jam not spread, so is obviously preparing to launch in the UK.

It makes it all the more sickening that she was exploiting the issue of girls' education to market her product and prepare for a UK launch.

No idea, I’m not going to do a stealth boast , all I’m going to say is ….just because you can afford something , doesn’t mean you should waste money on something!

It’s perfectly acceptable to ask for a doggy bag. Afternoon tea is a sugar/carb overdose and it takes a lot to eat all the little cakes in one go. I had a fabulous afternoon tea at Browns hotel and they had beautiful boxes ready for you to take home what you didn’t eat.

Matt Wilkinson of the Sun is reporting that As Ever is going to start selling in the Uk.

What will she be offering (that anyone wants) that one can't get in Waitrose or M&S - or even the Co-op? And there's the Highgrove shop if one wants something a bit special for a gift.

billysboy · 11/10/2026 17:55

Can’t wait for Meg to start selling her jam over here so we can all buy a pot and then come on here to slag it off hahah

The whole Claridges appearance is reminding me very much of the Welly wearing pap walk backwards and forwards in front of the DM
offfices. Blatant attempt to draw attention to draw attention to herself 😆

Especially with photos like this. Are the cushions part of the deal ?

I've just read she can't sell the spread of the hamster food .

I thought that the Sandringham agreement included no commercial activity in the UK? That’s certainly what Fergie had for a long time.

Claridges don't care how you dress - I've been a few times, and not a designer outfit to my name.
They also offer to box up any uneaten cakes for you - the afternoon tea really is excellent.

All of the best places are like this. They don’t treat people different based on attire or perception of wealth. They treat everyone with great respect and kindness. It’s a joy!

It's the same with The Ritz, they just give everyone excellent service.
