Imagine so publicly leaving an institution in a tantrum which had all the perks of a house on palace grounds, tax payer security, free staff, free clothing, everything organised and paid for by the monarchy only to come back and desperately try to do what you did before without any of the above, they really are a pair of buffoons 😂

How were they not treated with flexibility?

For a start the Sandringham summit by all accounts was a fait accompli and not a proper discussion with only one version - the RF approved version - of documents prepared for signing.

And the SA tour was in reality quite gruelling when Meghan had only had Archie four months before. H&M had had quite a heavy schedule imposed upon them and Meghan had done well with it throughout her pregnancy with Archie. But the RF always make mistakes with incomers. They get little feedback or thanks from the monarch who is the person that matters. And that’s what led her to complain to Tom Bradby when he asked her how she doing, which was basically what lead to their downfall.

My personal theory is that if one senior member in the RF had bothered to ask Meghan that question themselves, I suspect this whole family feud wouldn’t have arisen and H&M wouldn’t have left.

Gruelling ? I thought Royal work wasn't " work" and it's just a few hours and most of the rest of " us" just have to get on with life in much more difficult circumstances ?

Gruelling my arse. They should try doing the jobs we do, without all the money, status, perks and staff!

His unique circumstances of birth mean he can’t get an ordinary job.

Elsewhere "For 21 years, the king of the Netherlands has flown twice a month as co-pilot while his passengers were in the dark"

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-39946532

...and of course PW held down an air ambulance job, albeit part time, for a while...

Edited

You’re a pilot and pilot instructor, I think @notimagain? Ex RAF? I enjoy your insights and interesting tales from the inside.

One of the things I remember you saying is that while it’s likely H was actually taught to fly a helicopter (as a gunner and copilot, not a pilot in his own right so to speak), it’s very unlikely that he kept up the flying hours after he left the army which would permit him to hold a civilian pilot’s license. Have I got that vaguely right?

I keep harking back to H’s reliance on his military service - and how he accepted that ‘Legend of Aviation’ award at a time when he probably didn’t have a flying license.

It’s a habit of his, I feel, leaning in very heavily in a vainglorious way to the same old personal experiences as if he’s a unique hero when he’s one of many, most of whom did it better anyway.

It's also very dishonest.
Like the Kennedy Award. False pretences.

For the life of me I don’t see what would be wrong in Harry continuing to do charity work and Meghan earning a living; like hundreds of vicars wives throughout the country nowadays, they appear at church events when they can, but the rest of the time they are busy earning a living and raising the children.

If the RF are going to modernise and adapt, and have enough family members fulfilling their remit; then they are going to have to learn to treat those who marry in with a bit more flexibility. It’s hard enough finding people who want to marry in at this point.

That last sentence - is that the case ? What evidence is there of that? Just because Harry was unable to hold onto partners doesn't mean this extends to the whole family. That was a " him problem" .

Will H wear his Nazi uniform while filming the Doreen L documentary?

I'm wondering if his participation is some kind of " Sorry Doreen " for dragging you into this mess.

One of the things I remember you saying is that while it’s likely H was actually taught to fly a helicopter (as a gunner and copilot, not a pilot in his own right so to speak),

He passed wings at Shawbury and was a fully qualified front and back seat on the Apache, so he was very much a pilot in his own right...for a while.

..."Very unlikely that he kept up the flying hours after he left the army which would permit him to hold a civilian*

Ah, now that's the interesting thing (to me)...despite having access to money he seems to have dropped flying like a hot brick minute the army didn't require it...I don't think it interests him but he did it to try and get one up on W...

Even if he was interested in flying continuing post his time in the Army he would have had to work extra hard and take extra effort at getting civilian qualifications, going to the US would complicate that....

Finally any flying job involves a bit of effort and sometimes hard work, even if only part time.

I'm not convinced H does hard work or effort

..ETA ..unless he's kicked....

I think he has proven he doesn't do hard work. He's also very incapable. If he applied himself maybe but hard work is for the little people

Every single video of those kids, is Archie walking, running, biking, scooting ahead and Lili trailing behind. Every single time.

I have never seen any interaction between the kids…ever. Or even interaction of the kids with their dogs.

That’s not normal behaviour

I was thinking the same. In all of these many videos and photos, the kids are not interacting with each other or anyone else. Of course it could be that that's because they're having to be so careful not to reveal too much of their faces, less the great unwashed faint at the sight of the sacred visage of the Hamlets, but the overall impression is indeed odd.

No actually, if you read my post properly, I said Harry wanted to serve, right back from the days of the Sandringham Summit.

And it’s entirely possible to want to do charity work but not want to stay within the RF if his wife was struggling.

Harry's new crest

Interesting that this is Harry's gig & not Meghan's. Megahan could be quite good here as apart from the obvious being mixed race herself she is articulate & a good speaker.

Edited

It’s Harry’s gig because of Dame DL, they’re in cahoots over the Mail court case.

I would respectfully disagree with your other point about Meghan though.

Her speech is all nonsense word salad, she uses a lot of words to sound clever but there’s no substance there at all. I couldn’t agree that she’s articulate or a good speaker.

Also she lived here for about five minutes, nothing would qualify her to speak on race relations in the UK. I grant you she is mixed race, but this is a woman who called herself Caucasian on her acting CV for a while. I think she would be a dreadful choice.

I know!

It was bad enough them going all the way to California and trying to play American royals. But then coming back to the country you flounced out of in high dudgeon, only to attempt a pound shop version of the role you thought you were too good for, really is something else.

Maybe his wife being suicidal was sufficient justification for him to give all of that up?

Fair enough, I am no fan of Meghan so I'm not going to defend her!
Harry is a wild choice though, he has no credibility to speak on any of these causes, is the race relations interview a paid one also?

But as another poster upthread said Harry fecked off to the Hague after Archie was born leaving behind his wife who was struggling with a new born & has spoken of her difficulties at that time.. what type of parenting guru does that?

It just goes to show what utter failures the pair of them are, coming back to replicate a job you flounced from “I can’t believe I’m not getting paid for this” well you certainly aren’t now love! As I said a pair of buffoons!

I don’t see how Meghan would be good at speaking about race relations seeing as she went through life embracing her white heritage and successfully ‘passing’ her African American heritage.

At some stage in her life she chose her identity and it wasn’t her African American side.

"His unique circumstances of birth mean he can’t get an ordinary job"

Prince William managed to get an ordinary job flying an air ambulance helicopter. Did that for 2 years and invited his colleagues to his wedding. The late Duchess of Kent worked for years "teaching music in a Hull primary school, where pupils knew nothing of her royal identity, and where she was known as "Mrs Kent"".
